I am not sure why soon many of you guys this apple is somehow married to att for life!? You guys are foolish;)

I'm a Verizon customer and an Apple computer user. If iphone came to Verizon I would be ecstatic. I'm also an Apple stock holder and as someone else said, there are many customers out there waiting for the iphone to come to another provider. To me it doesn't make sense to have one carrier.

But I will not believe any of these rumors.

When Apple and another carrier than ATT announce a deal, then I'll accept it. Until then I'm sure there will be 4 or 5 (or more?) of these rumors about the iphone coming to some carrier during some month and each will be wrong.

Nothing to see here folks.

T-Mobile USA will get it before Verizon Wireless ever does.

However, this could mean that the iPad is finally going to be available for all regardless of carrier.

I would like to see a T-Mobile iphone! T-Mobile now has the fastest 3G in the US, The rolled out HSPA+ :eek:21Mbps

Good Luck att! Att is still at 3.6Mbps to 7Mbps

AT&T has already moved to downplay the risk to its bottom line posed by the loss of its exclusivity for the iPhone in the U.S., noting in its latest quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it expects no "material negative impact" from the expiration of its exclusive handset distribution agreements.AT&T also reiterated its position that AT&T customers will not defect to rival carriers in large numbers once the iPhone goes non-exclusive, claiming that 80% of customers are on family or business plans that make it difficult for them to switch.

Note, it didn't say anything about people actually wanting to stay. So, whether people leave in Jan or leave in a year, they're still leaving.

Of course, I've heard so many rumors of Verizon getting the iPhone that I'm going to take a wait and see attitude. Also, I remember hearing of the Apple table device rumors for 3 or 4 years before it actually came out.

Good old AT&T. We'll keep our existing customers, not by giving them good cell service, or good customer service, or competitive prices, but by making it incredibly expensive and difficult for them to switch to the competition.

Exactly,

Business as usual at AT&T. This is their culture, their philosophy and their practice. I could care less how good AT&T's service is compared to Verizon's. I wouldn't give them a red penny of my money. Why would anyone reward a company for publicly proclaiming, "The only way we keep our customers is at gunpoint."

these VZW iphone rumors are increasing in frequency and more and more facts seem to be coming in that point the same direction...

im currently on verizon and was considering jumping to att for the iphone but if it came to VZW that would be great.

My contract is up at the end of november so we shall see what happens then....

Omg, I'm praying that it'll come out this Dec., I can't stand AT&T's atrocious service. Maybe by the time it'll be released, they'll simultaneously release the white iPhone. Double plus :)

I'm planning to buy an ipod touch if a new model comes out that I like. I would then purchase a Verizon mifi with no contract. (I've had no contract with a cell provider for over 5 years now). I plan to test skype using this combination of mifi and ipod touch. If I like it, then I will end my current phone plan and use the ipod/skype system for my phone. If it doesn't fit my needs then I think I will only activate the mifi on months I travel and need access and keep my old "non-smart" phone.

I really haven't played around with skype much really. I tried it once for computer to computer, but I haven't used it to call a phone. It would be great if I could transfer my current cell phone number to a skype account. I'm not sure if that's possible though. I guess I should look into this some more while I wait for the next ipod touch model to arrive.

Could we resist the need to post ignorant comments.

You know, USA, you CAN actually agree on _one_ mobile standard without commiting the ultimate sin of Socialism.
Think about it...

First off the various protocols have nothing to do with socialism. Second CDMA had some technical advantages that work well with the geographic challeges of the US. Lastly without the development of these various cell phone techniques the knowledge base required to do things like LTE would never of happened.

IPhone on Verizon can come or go, what i want is an unlocked iPhone.

Preferrably one i can use world wide. If Verizon wants to get my attention they should offer up an unlocked iPhone with a multimode chipset. That is give me a phone that can work anywhere on this planet with a Sim chip swap.

To be honest it is the only complaint i have with respect to AT&T and the Apple alliance. AT&Ts local service is as good as Verizons and frankly they are a lot better to deal with people wise. The thing that turned me off in the past with respect to Verizon was the used car salemen mentality you had to deal with when walking in to one of their stores.

Good, maybe I'll be able to get one on my parents' plan to save money. That being said, Verizon is UTTER GARBAGE around here. My current Verizon dumb phone has a single bar of 2G, and zero for 3G. I go anywhere in any direction and it gets better in ~10 miles, but here? Next to useless.

I heard they're planning to build new towers, and they can't come soon enough. Don't believe me that Verizon is useless here?

Check the comment at the bottom. That person is 100% right.

Unfortunately it's probably going to be some time before they're installed, but hopefully it'll be around the iPhone launch.

Verizion aint getting anything. att's contract ends 2012. and this rumor has every bit of evidence since the last 100. att can do more than Verizon and apple isnt gana let their phone loose features. steve hates Verizon just as much as flash and could careless about the few thousand that care about Verizon. he is selling iphones and ipads like hotcakes at a porn convention. Verizon needs control over the phone unlike att and apple likes att cause of it. att is faster and better and is doing everything for apple and apple likes being catered to. Verizon isnt gana do that. it's not happening.

America likes to be difficult. VZW and Sprint are CDMA unlike the rest of the world on GSM. Although that water is getting muddy lately with 4G.

Everyone bashes on the US for CDMA, but yet there are plenty of countries that use it. Plus for CDMA vs GSM, CDMA is the superior technology.

Logical arguments are not well appreciated by most MacRumors forum readers.

You really need to stop making sense and start spouting nonsensical B.S. about Verizon getting the iPhone first after the AT&T exclusivity agreement expires. And emphasize that T-Mobile coverage is non-existent, too.

The fact that Apple has always migrated to another GSM-based carrier when it gave up market exclusivity is totally irrelevant.

Please stop using your brain around here. You are making a spectacle of yourself.

:p

Why no discussion of iPad, timing would be more appropriate..

Am thinking this rumored purchase would be more for the next gen iPad rather than a phone.

I've always felt this way.

Verizon was approached first, and ultimately turned the deal down.

Advantages such as speed, simultaneous voice+data, roll-over minutes, etc. would ultimately be forfeited, and it's unlikely that Verizon would be willing to relinquish that much control.

If Verizon eventually does carry the iPhone by 2012, I'll be sticking with AT&T, who's service has been excellent - reliable, fast, courteous, and above all, unburdened by excessive fees and covert charges.

Hopefully, for those who do have coverage problems, it happens sooner, though 2012 seems evident.

"Few thousand that care about Verizon" Are you counting that after subtracting 89.99 million people? And I think Steve Jobs cares about doubling the market for potential iphone buyers. Please think to yourself before posting useless and false information.

I'm holding out on my upgrade...
I like HTC but I'm having issues with it -_-
Let's go Apple and Verizon!

I'm sure Verizon will feel a strain on their network much like AT&T did in the beginning, due to so many people buying an iPhone as well as those that are going to "jump ship" from AT&T.
This could actually be a blessing for AT&T since some people will leave to Verizon, freeing up some of the strain on their network.
I could care less what carrier has it. I'm just glad to see there will be some competition for the price of the data plans. Hell, Sprint is selling unlimited EVERYTHING for $69. I only wish AT&T would do the same. I pay $69 for unlimited voice alone, $30 for unlimited data, and $20 for unlimited texting. That's $119 a month (before taxes), $50 more than Sprint for the same damn service!
Hopefully the iPhone does go to Verizon and prices for these plans will start to drop and get on par with Sprint.
I only hope...

The advantage of Verizon is a larger nationwide 3G map. I can tell you that driving from NY to FLA is a pain in the butt! If my iPhone was a Verizon phone, I'd have 3G coverage the whole way.

An interesting counterpoint:

CNN said:
Verizon Wireless smartphone customers use 25 percent more data than AT&T iPhone customers, thanks in large part to new Verizon's new Android smartphones, a recent study indicates.

ATT just offers poor nationwide service.

Verizon must first change their logo

The Verizon logo looks like a 2nd grader's first experiment with a crayon and a ruler. Too ugly to go on an iPhone.

Sorry. No deal if Verizon insists on putting their logo on iPhone 4.5.

Yeah, I've had 3G kick into Edge while driving south of Virginia. For what it might do, I've been using the AT&T 'Mark the Spot' app to draw more attention to 3G dead-spots.

3G coverage seems to be improving, albeit incrementally.

I wish there were an app which could piggyback off of Verizon's network in spotty areas - just a thought. ;)

Android data numbers

"Verizon Wireless smartphone customers use 25 percent more data than AT&T iPhone customers, thanks in large part to new Verizon's new Android smartphones, a recent study indicates."

It's because all the Fragdroid phones are sending their users' private data to Chinese hackers.
