So if this is true we would have iPads in sizes from 8.3" to 16" (almost a factor of 2). In the meantime MacBooks available only from 13" to 16".

I was thinking of both also just now. larger MBA's and larger iPads, is there durability/ruggedness issues? The current 12.9" iPad Pro is .25"/6.4mm how would that fare at a 16" size? Would you be more likely to damage either product compared to the current sizes? Seems both would need to be thicker and heavier. Also larger screen consume more battery, so larger batteries also.

12.9” is already huge IMO, but that size has existed for iPads since 2015. It’s time to go bigger. The biggest iPhone back then was 5.5” and now we’re at 6.7” (ever since 2020). I’d consider it for a portable TV basically, that does a lot of other things too.

macOS on an 8.3” screen would be horrible. It was barely worth it on 11” screens. iPadOS scales much better.

I never buy Apple's attachable keyboards. One of the big advantages tablets have over laptops is that the keyboard *does not* have to be attached to the screen, allowing me to find a comfortable position wherever I am seated. Airplane tray tables, for example. Or the ability to raise the tablet closer to eye level while having the keyboard remain at a comfortable typing height.

I have an ancient BT Apple keyboard--the one that takes AA batteries--and it works just fine.

A 16" iPad is one of my fantasy Apple devices. I would find it very hard to resist.

As someone who upgraded from a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 to a 15" Samsung Galaxy Ultra, I would buy a 16" iPad in a heartbeat.

Seriously, anyone who thinks a 16" tablet is crazy, go to Best Buy and play around with the 15" Ultra. That size is GLORIOUS, to me at least.
Still no. Unless Samsung throws some sort of stand with the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra for free, it's still too wieldy to hold.

14" & 16" iPad Pro tablets with OLED screens...?

Landscape camera array & Apple Pencil 3...?

iPadOS/macOS hybrid operating system...?

Procreate, Affinity Suite, & DaVinci Resolve...!

Add Blender, World of Warcraft, & Xcode to the list and I will be good to go...!

You've picked it up? The 15" Samsung feels lighter than my old, gen 3 iPad...
It's not the weight per se, but just the sheer size of a tablet that big. I found the 12.9" iPad Pro a tad unwieldy to hold due to the size of the tablet itself. Going to something even bigger like the proposed 16" iPad makes holding it by hand nearly out of the question (in my opinion). I still remember when I picked up the original 12.9" iPad Pro at an Apple Store way back in 2015 and I wasn't comfortable holding it like I do with a smaller iPad.

If the 13" iPad Pro is $300 more than the 11" iPad Pro, then the 16" iPad Pro would be around $300 more than that.

11" 799 USD
13" $1099 USD
16" $1399 USD
The 12.9” is 37.5% larger in display area than the 11”, which is almost exactly the price difference. 16” would be about 54% larger in area than 12.9”, which for the price would point to $1699. Area increases quadratically with the diagonal.

It wont even with most backpacks at that rate, hell I always have a hard time trying to fit my 12.9” while traveling, nope no 16” for me lololol

Because a 9.7” calculator looks stupid
They don’t have to render a simple calculator with giant buttons. There could be graphing and other scientific functions, or even an on-screen “clipboard” with a calculations history. It could be full-featured and intuitive like the iPadOS Weather app. I’m sure Apple, if they ever do bring Calculator to iPad, will go in more of that direction so as to differentiate themselves in meaningful ways from the plethora of third-party options out there.

Lots of envy from Mac entrenched people here. MacOS lite=mode to run MacOS apps?
I’m thinking it’s not a “mode”, it could just run macOS and apps from outside the Mac App Store. For folks that like the iPad form factor, but want to install stuff from outside the App Store.

I disagree.

An extra ~15% larger screen does not cost Apple $100 more, and since Apple likes to hit $100 price points they will likely round down that small amount to $1399 instead of rounding up to $1499.
