I’ve said for years that I want a 65” iPad. The only thing that’s changed is I’d now like it to be 85” please.
Reminds one of the TV dramas where they have a large display that you can use swipe movements to navigate though online information. There is a commercial marketplace for larger information consoles a person could use for guidance/information in stores, transportation centers, and so on. Like the early smartphone industry just needs someone to take the lead.

I could see the rumored 14" iPad Pro coming to existence but holy cow a 16"??? 😳

Can you imagine the pricing on one of those? I do know if I wanted a new 12.9" iPP, I'd get the 1TB version with the cellular connection and just the iPad alone would set me back TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. For an iPad. Now add in the almost mandatory keyboard attachment and it goes up even higher.

As much as I adore iPads, I don't know if I could stomach the price on a 16" version. I'd assume one built to the specs I listed above would get real close to $2500 (not inc. keyboard) and that's 16" MBP territory. In what world would anyone choose an iPad over a MBP in the situation for that kind of money? iPadOS just doesn't compare to macOS at that point. Not to mention a MBP has so much more to offer.

I've actually found myself using my iPad less and less since I picked up an M1 Air, it's just much nicer to use for almost any situation. A larger iPad is interesting in some ways but the price is enough to keep me away.

Who the hell wants or needs this??

It will run an OS clearly unsuitable for a large screen and will be horribly expensive.

I suspect only Federico Viticci would buy this monstrosity as he seems to spunk off the iPad in general.
the person who posted just above your post maybe and countless others in industries you appear to have no knowledge of.

Ah, no. I've held my brother's 12.9" iPad Pro (2018) and that was already unwieldy to hold at times. Maybe 14" iPad Pro, but definitely not a 16" iPad Pro.
As someone who upgraded from a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 to a 15" Samsung Galaxy Ultra, I would buy a 16" iPad in a heartbeat.

Seriously, anyone who thinks a 16" tablet is crazy, go to Best Buy and play around with the 15" Ultra. That size is GLORIOUS, to me at least.

The macOS and iOS platforms are largely interchangeable now...

There's no reason why macOS software couldn't run on iPad.
Yeah, until I downloaded Ventura on my M1 MBA, I had no idea how much overlap in the UI there is now.

To me this says the report of MacOS lite coming to the M2 iPad Pro is correct. Apple is finally letting the iPad Pro grow up.
Why not to the M1 iPad Pro? Or do you mean coming to the M powered iPads?

tbh if this is geared towards artists/creatives, it shouldn't even be an iPad. Just a standalone tablet display like a Wacom tablet.
Yes I could see something like this more as an accessory to be connected to a MacOS or Windows computer, then just being a larger iPad. Thats what a lot of artists/creatives utilize. Another possibility. :)

At the moment they are both, and are used as such - why would a larger one suddenly omit the benefits of having iPadOS and its apps built in?

How about a larger non-pro iPad. For those of us who aren't creatives and don't give a hoot about pencils.

My mom uses her iPad as a full time computer and doesnt care about any of those things, yet she is forced to use an iPad Pro to get the largest screen.

Cost and versatility. Consider with a USB-C you could have that larger accessory connected to a iPad Pro. This is a assumption that we are not even discussing a 16" iPad based on this rumor.

Good point. I'm sure there's a market for an entry-level 12.9" iPad
