If we have not heard any rumors of a new version of the H2 chip, I don’t expect anything other than an updated case.

I’ll wait until the pro 3s come out to update my original pros.

Shame they didn't move AirPods Pro 2nd gen to USB-C last year, considering the USB-C Apple TV remote was unveiled at the exact same event
Totally agree!

I wasn't planning to upgrade to APP2, but my first gen eventually died so I did get the APP2.

Here is hoping that they introduce a full range of USB-C accessories (including Mac keyboard). I'm ready to be done with Lightning.
Same, I never understood why the Mac accessories were lightning in the first place. It makes kinda sense with AirPods and iPhone accessories, but no Mac ever had to use Lightning. Those accessories should have been USB-C when they were introduced in 2015

Everything usb c now finally the iPhone gets in and the AirPods as well that’s just awesome, no more stupid s** cables, slow as f*** and little water and they don’t work for hours finally over for this stupid lightning cables.and also so many times you had to have like 2-3 different cables just to charge your apple devices, can’t understand who things that’s a bad thing probably only people which have one iPhone and that’s it.
I understood none of this but I agree with every word of it.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never thrown away a working cable and I’m not sure why anybody would in this case, considering there are billions of Lightning devices out there.
Going by the amount of trash that gets sent to landfills every day, it’s fair to say that the vast majority of folks are not like you.

And, as Apple releases new phones every year, selling over 200 million of them, that’s at least 5 years before a billion devices are sold, maybe less. And, since many do have multiple old cables, 1 billion discarded cables will occur well before 5 years.

I can dream, but it would be nice if Apple could match some colors to the Airpods Pro lineup as well!

thanks EU for this environmental disaster. could have kept using billions of perfectly functioning lightning cables but nope.

it's clear EU has no idea what they're doing. look at the annoying cookie popups for further proof. anyone who thinks otherwise are in absolute denial.
Ah yes, more “Let’s keep the 30-pin connector!!” logic.

Still can. I'm not rushing to get rid of any of the many Apple things I have that charge via Lightning (keyboard, trackpad, mouse, remote, iPhone, iPad Mini). And even if I did sell or give them away, the next user would need to charge them too.

When a new connector/charge cable comes out, it's not like everyone just marches over to their trash can and throws away all their stuff.

See also, USB-A. That port was ubuquitous for decades. It'll get phased out over time, but with billions of devices and cables in service, I guarantee you'll be stumbling across USB-A stuff 10 years from now.

As far as I know, your lightning AirPods case will still work after the September 12 event. Just stick with that if you prefer this port. Or use wireless charging.
You will need to use duplicate cables now with the iPhone upgrade.

This is why I hope they also update the AirPods Max. I do NOT want to have duplicate cables. Right now my headphones share the same cable as my phone.

People have already called you out on this nonsense several times before yet you keep spewing it. All those perfectly functioning lightning cables will still be needed for all the perfecty functioning iPhones prior to the 15 series. Nothing changes about that just because a new phone is released that uses a different cable. There is nothing environmentally disastrous about it. Is this too hard for you to understand? Seriously 😂

Of course there won't be any new features.
Apple likes to bleed its customers dry, first to buy the new version with solely a different charging port - and then introduce a new product to catch them again.
I know right? I don't want to buy new AirPods but unfortunately the Apple Police will be showing up at my door and marching me at gunpoint to replace mine. Really sucks.

How exactly? If I upgrade to iPhone 15 I’m not keeping my current phone. So my dozens of lightning cables are now pointless.

And if the don’t upgrade everything (AirPods Max) to USB-C, then I need DUPLICATE cables. It’s a mess.

You could also just keep your phone

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't happened yet. Wasn't the iPhone 8 and X wired for this ability and it just never got the software support for it? I have no idea if the later MagSafe iPhones are wired this way too. This really needs to happen though. Apple really likes to drag their feet.

All MagSafe compatible phones do support reverse wireless charging, but ONLY with Apple’s MagSafe battery pack.
