So if iOS is “dumb” and better at ram management, and faster. What does that make android??

It makes Android a proper OS that does its best to support whatever the user wants to run, whereas iOS just says nope can't do that.

iOS "manages" 1 app at a time.

There's nobody in my personal circle left with android. For business use there is a cross-platform application.

That's funny because everyone in my circle uses a galaxy and we have no problems using the built in video right on the phone caller.

I'm not the one who said iPhone has FaceTime. it only works on iOS.

You seem to disgard that Android has it's video calling on there platform
Is that why android users have to justify which app they use to call other android users....because there is a standard app?

And how again do you call iphones?

Here is the standard Samsung phone dialer.you see the simple video icon on the bottom?

Samsung is the world leader in phones sold and there standard phone dialer has the video built in just like FaceTime

Maybe you missed this part, which is the point of the article...

"Apple is believed to have authorized carriers to discount XR models more heavily due to lower-than-expected demand for the XR in the country. Apple iPhone dominates the smartphone market in Japan with about 50% of sales, but it seems demand for Apple’s latest models was lukewarm."

Anyway, not going to argue here.

Cheers.
Link to the agreement between Apple and carrier? It’s normal for carriers everywhere to offer promotions on iPhones. Sprint, Verizon, Att do it all the time for years in the US.

Apple’s margin has been consistent and this is just more normal business ops. It’s lukely the carrier wants the customer on their network and the 2 year contract forces them to stay.

It’s a way for carriers to entice switchers and new customers.

Apple just put up 34% revenue growth in Japan, so Japan was not struggling as of the most recent data.

Xr also is the best selling iPhone in Apple’s lineup since release, so the iPhone 8 isn’t outselling it as reported by this fake news.

Looks like it's happening:
"iPhone XR price drops by ~$100 at Japanese carrier over two year contract"

ahem: As rumored, iPhone XR price drops by ~$100 at Japanese carrier over two year contract

"Apple is believed to have authorized carriers to discount XR models more heavily due to lower-than-expected demand for the XR in the country. Apple iPhone dominates the smartphone market in Japan with about 50% of sales, but it seems demand for Apple’s latest models was lukewarm.

Rather than switching to Android, Japanese customers appear to be buying iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in large volume, which has impacted sales of the XS and XR in the region.

Do not expect to see price cuts instated worldwide for the iPhone XR based on the changes in the Japanese market. Apple is careful to apply discounting practices selectively in specific markets, where it deems it necessary to boost sales."
This speculation piece has no way of knowing overall iPhone mix. It’s just stupid to even report? “Appear to be being iPhone 8” is PURE speculation.

Again, Apple just put up 34% revenue growth in Japan, the best region for Apple.

We just heard from Apple themselves that the Xr is the best selling iPhone, so we at least know the 8 isn’t outselling the Xr overall and Japan is probably no different.

Carriers run promotions all the time with zero impact to Apples margin. Look at the reporting...Apple has a GM of around 38.5% consistently.

What does one use on a Huawei?

Hey "buddy". Please keep up with the convo. The OP threw a comment in about Android not Samsung. You made it about Samsung. By the way which company takes 80% of the smartphone profits. Not the company that sells the number 1 phone. That what iphone users use to answer the diss about IOS.;)

Why do you need video calling programmed at an OS level? So it can be used for covert surveillance?

Just use one of the numerous apps like Skype, viber, Facebook Messenger... that request access to your camera and internet connection

The reason I said Samsung is the number one seller is for the case that it's version of FaceTime is the standard Android video calling feature.

Way over your head and nothing to do about profits.

Facetime is a lot easier for most normal people to use though.

You're not following the convo. Is that why android needs 10 video calling apps when iOS needs one good one that includes group calling?

Skype backdoors, Facebook messenger. Facebook enough said about that. Viber? The comment was more about a solid standard. Why do you believe facetime is used for covert surveillance?

The standards are camera APIs and TCP/IP

We don't need proprietary, patented software methods for every single phone function

But then Apple are the ones who block bluetooth on HomePod because they can't lock down the audio source then

I might almost agree about standards if it weren't for the DCMA.

Apple is entitled to develop it's technology the way it wants, and customers are entitled to decide if they want to purchase apple products.

As far as the homepod, if you want a bluetooth speaker there are many to choose from. Apple's use case is the homepod is not a bluetooth speaker.
