They put last years processors init and are surprised no one upgraded to the same thing they already had. Lol
It’s foul Apple using last year’s chip on a brand new iPhone 14. Most non-techs people don’t care but how is that ok?

Imagine buying a brand new vehicle with last year’s engine.

Apple needs to stop trying to milk its fanbase - just give us a really decent iPhone 15, not Pro, not Plus, not Mini or anything else - hark back to the days of Steve Jobs - there was just one iPhone (okay already it had differing storage options...)

Apple has grown far too large for this kind of "one size fits all" thinking to work. Apple doesn't make multiple models of everything because all buyers choose only one. They sell at least SOME of everything they make. If no one purchased some stock config, that one would be quickly discontinued.

Would those buyers buy any one config of something different than what they've chosen when given choices? Some probably would but others may not. Apple wants every penny. The days of small Apple- where single choices of some things was all they could really handle- have long passed. A more complex product mix is part of the price of trillion dollar valuations.

As if there is such a thing as a “Pro” phone anyway. Honestly, it is a terrible naming convention.

Even the average consumer who isn’t tech-savvy like is here know better than to purchase a 14 Plus for $899
My wife did, her reasoning - it looks the same and I save $200 and don’t have to wait :p She’s not exactly wrong, to the average user it makes almost no difference, they could careless about that island whatever.

The mistake is apple made the price gap too narrow, at $200 most people will just say screw it and get the pro. If the gap is $400 I bet the regular plus version will sell very well. If I were apple, I increase the pro plus by $100 and decrease the regular plus by $100 to hit the $400 gap.

Whole Apple line up too complex.

Should be easier to find what you need.

iPhone
iPhone Pro
iPhone Pro Max

MacBook (which is the current Air)
MacBook Pro 14
MacBook Pro 16

Mac (replaces Mac mini but in a keyboard form factor like Apple II)
iMac
Mac Studio
Mac Pro

iPad (which is the current iPad Air)
iPad mini
iPad Pro 11
iPad Pro 12

Done.

I go full Gorden Ramsey on the menu.

I got rid of the iPhone Plus and I renamed the two Air products, got rid of MacBook Pro 13, and got rid of the out of date tapered iPad design. I get rid of all this SE models.

Slightly off topic but I’ll never get used to 6.1” as the standard size. I miss my 12 mini.

Remember when Apple made a commercial which essentially argued that 4” was the perfect size?

I’m convinced that if they replaced the SE (4.7”) with the mini form factor (5.4”) at a reasonable price, it’d sell so well that it would eat away at higher-end iPhone sales. Hell, if the iPhone 12 had 120hz, I’d pick that over my 14 Pro.

I really, really hope it sells even worse than the mini. Maybe we'll get a mini for a reasonable price then.

With the economy stagnating for at keast 2023, the "middle class" will probably not want to afford a premium phone for a premium price. While most people who are still able and willing to buy a pro will probably still do that.

Apple should consider bringing back the iPhone Mini with better battery life, camera, and so on. Call it the iPhone Pro Mini.

Also, the non-pro iPhones should strictly be reserved for the Apple event in the Spring.
I feel like just adding the “pro” moniker to it will probably lead to better sales 😂

… I’m only half joking, too.

It was extremely dumb of Apple to get rid of the mini from the line-up and replace it was a giant phablet no one wants.

Except people want the that giant phablet when it comes to the 14 Pro Max. People just didn't want the 14 period it seems. The same with the 12 and 13 mini. Few people bought them at all.

They should have just done the 14, then the 2 sizes of the 14 Pro and Pro Max.

I’m sure the uncertainty of 2023 (psst recession) has absolutely nothing to do with people skipping this generation. /s

The perfect lineup, if you give up the little Air (previously, the Air was almost thicker than the Pro, and the difference in weight was really small)

Base: iPhone SE, iPad SE (9th), MacBook SE - current Air M1
Regular: iPhone, iPad (based on the current Air), iPad Mini, MacBook (based on the current Air M2). Or if they really must then the MacBook based on the current Pro M2 and Air as is.
Pro: iPhone Pro, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Studio, Mac Pro(?).

Simple, clean with no creatures like the 10th generation iPad.

Simpler times. Presenting "iPhone". Now it's a mess just to see every size, color, non pro, pro, plus, se. lol.
