Scalability and flexibility?Yep, a shame that Apple can't set up their own data centre to host their own services.
Google are loving the business though!

It's all encrypted, so while it's on Google's servers, they don't have access to it.So Google has my data? Great!
not sure how I feel about that. Hope they follow the privacy guidelines like Apple does.
This. Why do people want Apple to do everything in-house? They don't run their own fabs, they don't make displays, they don't build all their own datacenters. Why? Because those are commodity services that require massive investment and have short lifecycles. Apple is much better suited as a customer that can resell the value they create from those commodites at high margin.

It might have something to do with the fact that if you go out of your way to not use Google products, and spend more to get their competitor's product, you still end up supporting them.Apple does not provide third-party cloud storage providers with the keys to decrypt user data stored on their servers, ensuring a strong level of security.
Google doesn't have access to the data. What's a shame?
They do build and operate data centers…but you have to understand the sheer scale of data these days.I thought Apple was going to be investing in their own data centers years ago. I can imagine that this route, with a deal, has to be significantly cheaper these days. I get the security and all, but not terribly happy that some of my $ goes to Google.
That said, iCloud has been working really well for me and my family. Been using it as my primary cloud storage for years now. My whole family is nearing the 400GB mark.
It's a shame that they don't anticipate growth as they keep marketing their services and build their own data centres.Apple does not provide third-party cloud storage providers with the keys to decrypt user data stored on their servers, ensuring a strong level of security.
