I'm looking at the Chinese version of the website, and I can't seem to find anything in Chinese that mentions anything remotely similar to this, so I'm inclined to think that it's an issue with their translation.

Come on people, it's just a name.

No matter what they are called - you'll LOVE THEM!

I wish Apple would make a WIRED version (lighting cable?) of the AirPod Pro (called EarPod Pros). Seems like a no brainer to make.

I kind of see your point but is there a market for wired now? With 60 million pairs of AirPods sold in 2019, I think not. Everyone seems to want wireless earphones & headphones - myself included. I always managed to get one of my arms caught in earphones cables :)
Apple has wanted everything wireless for years.

The stupidity of this, if true, is really hard to fathom. What’s next - AirPods Pro Lite Max S? Apple’s marketing team should be let go, immediately.
I agree, first thing in the morning cut them all loose. We can’t have rumors like this 🙄

I would just want the shorter stem design to come to regular AirPods

Are we heading towards heaving a very basic AirPod that will come with the iPhone to replace the wired one? May be needed if completely wireless phones are to happen...

Digitimes feeds are serious clickbait.

How can anything branded "Pro" be washed down to "Pro Lite"?
It sounds so bent out of proportion it is ridiculous.

It is a stripped down version of a flagship product Apple could possibly try to flog to you so you can be a junior member of the Pro Club.

But we are talking rumors here.

But wait a minute..... if Apple could offer a "Mac Pro 7,1 Lite" ... what do you think the reaction would be of many MR posters here?

Reminds me of something South Park did a few years back.

the fact that you guys would be surprised is more shocking. Tim Apple has been splitting up the product line as much as he can.

I’m all for this! I’m personally not a fan of the in-ear buds Of the AirPods Pro
Supposed that there is no AirPods in-ear, why are these being marketed by Apple as Pro. When did in-ear be associated with Pro. Or am I missing something.

“pro lite” what’s next? iPhone XS Plus Minus?
Considering its asian language translating to english thats not an official name to take seriously.

When the iPhone 6 Plus was rumored the original rumors said it was called the iPhone Math.....because of the + sign.

I highly doubt this rumor. But I’d true it would be consistent with Apple confusing/congesting a product like, as they’ve infamously done with their laptops. Instead maybe just retire the original AirPods and call the alleged “AirPods Pro Lite” AirPods.

Regardless of whether this rumour has any real merit, it does actually make sense.

If Apple replaced the existing AirPods with AirPods Pro “Lite” for the same price, they could simply leave out a key feature such as ANC.

Apple would benefit from having a single set of tooling. No need to maintain machinery to build original-shape AirPods or cases. Just one production line which can either install the ANC circuitry or not.

its a mistranslation. Should be AirPods Pro Light. Its a new accessory for the AirPods Pro that adds powerful flashlights to each earpiece. No doubt @AngerDanger can put together a mock-up for us.
I already use my watch as a surprisingly bright flashlight. To have an option to have twin beams from either side of my head as well? SURE!

Cool then you can use it with those Teledoc apps so they can see in your ears. :D
