And the best thing about Windows 7 is...it's less sucky than the last one???

"Windows 7: Sucks Less!" - Microsoft

LOL, nice one. That's exactly the reason Windows 7, people will take anything remotely better than what Vista is.

Interesting how Apple's competition uses the exact same tactic.

Don't mind them, they sound like a bunch of bloody hypocrites.

They are the same dudes who go around the forum telling us Dells are cheaper than Macs, I guess that isn't lame.

Good Ol' Steve-O

Do you think that Ballmer fires up his Dell or HP or Acer or Fujitsu or Asus or whatever in the hell they have over there at Microsoft and as he reads the headlines about Apple's profits, this word leaves his mouth - "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

Not to sound cliche here, but, 'Hey, Steve-o - how 'bout them apples?'

Yes, I meant each and everyone, as in every person featured in the ads. How ruthless and insensitive can one be, to dismiss a character, such as Lauren, to the banal category of "which doesn't make sense?" Keep adding insult to injury...

Then your mistake was to type "everyone of" instead of "everyone in".

I don't know if they're hiding it so much as they're not making it easy to find. Here is something but it is not current.

Thanks for the info jessica.!

I consider that info qualifies as "hiding it.";) If they release new AppleTV hardware and consider it "successful" I guarantee they'll break out the numbers so they it's very easy to see.

I guess everyone but those iPod Touch users can get upgrades for free then.
Apparently, subscription based units, such as the iPhone, have the cost "factored into" the paid subscription service. I do wish that this were not the case - that upgrades were free of charge for all, across the board. Unfotunately, with the advent of bizarre accounting laws, this is not the case.

I completely understand. In my line of work whenever it is not clearly noted whether it be a note or an actual line item then yes, it's intentionally hidden. My guess is that steveo and his infinite wisdom of calling it a hobby would allow investors to forgive him when he fails to clearly show how unprofitable or profitable the "hobby" really has been.

Agreed.

"Everyone of" happens to be perfectly acceptable English, FYI.

Yes, if "everyone of" is followed by a reference to a group of people, like "everyone of the actors". You used "everyone of the [commercials]", so "everyone in the [commercials]" would have referred to the actors, not the 30-second spots.

Your blatant hypocrisy, however:

Actually sarcasm, which you totally swallowed. I don't care about your typos.... ;)

I sit on the Mac and PC side of the fence. Not to burst your bubble, but have you experienced Windows 7 and seen what Dell is developing? Companies are getting smart and following Apple's style. MS might be acting desperate with the Ads and new stores, but it is getting them business. PC people have some nice products coming there way, new OS and better looking laptops.

Most will never get what your saying... There is a lot of brand myopia on this forum... Apple will never overtake MS with their profit markup, pc selection & os restrictions. Don't get wrong Apple is doing well & does well at what they do, but it has it limits...

Yes, "striving for cheap" happens to be the basis for the "alleged" actors as well.

LOL. Sarcasm, huh?
nice try though.

Nah. Vista's pretty good and certainly better than XP which is horrible and needs to die. W7 looks really good though.

Personally, I loved XP and never upgraded my old Dell to Vista. XP was much easier to deal with and wasn't largely bloated like Vista is.

About the whole iphone vs ipod touch upgrade thing:

Here in Belgium iPhones do not come with a contract, so from that point of view iPod Touches and iPhones are the same, and YET apple still charges iPod Touch users for updates over here and gives away those upgrades for free for iPhone users.

Clearly here apple is not required to charge for the iPod Touch upgrades and they do it anyway. Maybe because of technical problems, maybe because it's just more money for them.

What? Microsoft is going to announce earning tomorrow but in the last quarter Microsoft brought in $13B in revenue that quarter ( versus $8B for Apple this one) and approx $3B in profit (versus approx $1B ) for Apple. They probably won't set a quarter record for themselves, but will still most likely have made twice as much money. That's all pre Win7 release which should recharge the margin growth a bit year-over-year.

If Microsoft could make their internet division profitable they be crushing Apple in terms of earning power. Baller needs to either fix that or cut it loose. Step 1 would be stop trying to do dumb things that would damage Yahoo more so than leverage it.

Also silly because more units of Macs sold typically means more copies of Microsoft Office sold so means more (or exchanged Win vs. Mac version) money for Microsoft. Apple has no real software equivalent. Their windows software offerings are all free; which is primarily a cost to be covered.

Apple is doing well, but to say they are putting a large, permanent dent in Microsoft is comical. Their problems with Vista were much more self inflicted than anything Apple did. Dependence upon your competitor to screw up to win is dubious.

All of this reflects little on the state of their static shares for the past decade, however. Perhaps having the majority of its revenue generated from OEM sales seems somewhat uninspiring for investors.
