"We are thrilled to have sold more Macs and iPhones than in any previous quarter," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We've got a very strong lineup for the holiday season and some really great new products in the pipeline for 2010."

Apple tablet!

Amazing numbers. My AAPL stock has served me well.

I find these number most interesting. Look at desktop and laptop sales. (First column is Q3 209, second is Q4 2008 and the third is Q4 2009)

Amazing numbers. My AAPL stock has served me well. Up almost $2 in after hours trading. $200 by mid-December.

So desktop sales are down to even lower than they were a year ago.

I think even just a price drop would bolster sales through the holidays.

Hoping that means apple will reward it's loyal customers with some better prices & a little more computer. All & all I've never seen any other computer maker do that well.

Hats are off to Steve Job & apple, take a bow. :apple:

Does that mean no new macs until after the holidays?

That's exactly how I read it. Apple will go with what they've got and wait til the next year. Which on the Desktop side is less than great…

Does anyone know if this is the first quarter of the new subscription accounting rules? Might account for some of the record breaking numbers if it is. But then again, the 3 million mac is still impressive, no matter how they count the beans.

I'm sure Steve Jobs is at home watching TV, hearing all about the recession. And is talking to his spouse and asks "What's this recession everyone is running around about? I just earnt $1Billion..."

Jobs is in Cupertino awaiting the earnings call I'm sure. Ever since he got back from the transplant he's practically lived on campus.

The man is on a mission from God. He wants to make the best computer stuff before he dies.

And he's gonna do it too.:D

If you read the full article, you will see that these numbers are using the GAAP numbers. The non-GAAP numbers are even higher!!!
