That's a very good point. Sadly brand fanatics only want their brand to succeed (sort of like football fans). The problem with that scenario of course is that the logical consequence of such lack of competition = lack of innovation.

Some people say that within Apple this position has already been reached. One day soon someone will make a commercial in which some freedom loving chick hurls a sledgehammer through a projection of Steve Jobs :apple:.

Oh I agree 100% but sadly, most people on these forums fail to see this at all. *shrug*

Q: Does the iPad compete with netbooks?
A: It's a no-brainer that someone would opt for the iPad over the netbook. The netbook doesn't do anything well.

This kind of statement is a marketing lie to cover Apple's reluctance to make a low margin product - the netbook. Apple has every right not to make a netbook if they won't profit. But to say a netbook doesn't do anything well is absolutely not true. If anything, iPad 1.0 is the more hobbled technology.

I know doctors who run practices on netbooks. No way they could do the same on an iPad.

There's always a "Debbie Downer" in the crowd isn't there.

Well, yes, but he has a point. Since the TV market jumped straight to 1080p, it's kind of a given. More so than 1080p, I wish the movies you buy/rent off of the iTunes store were higher bitrate.

I have been begging Apple to get a clickwheel remote for Apple TV for forever. It's a medium that would benefit from it. Of course if you're already controlling your Apple TV with an iPhone, it's kind of a moot point I guess

...and Wall-Street was questioning Apple's board of directors hahaha.

Way to go Apple 

Wow. Steve Jobs. You surely are the most egotistical person ever. I enjoy my Ipad very much. But a laptop does a million more things than a iPad could ever come close to doing.

Another really bad day for the Apple-haters.

That'll change.

I know doctors who run practices on netbooks. No way they could do the same on an iPad.

That's already changing.

Vaporware and references are not nearly enough to run a medical practice. Even your lame Google search says "there's no evidence of a surge of medical applications or adopters."

I know it must be frustrating for you today. I totally understand.

That is a whole lot of cash. I'm really curious what they are going to do with this amount of cash they have been building up.

Q: Thoughts about iPhone distribution?
A: Three main markets where still exclusive: U.S., Germany, Spain. We've moved a number of markets to non-exclusive and seen unit sales and market share improve. Can't say that will work everywhere though.

Interesting that Japan is not listed as "exclusive". Up until now, Soft Bank has been their exclusive retailer (I got my 3GS there at the beginning of this year). I wonder if DoVoMo and/or AU will begin to sell it.

The continued arrogance regarding lack of Flash Support is astounding. Maybe, over time, websites will abandon Flash, but at the moment, sorry Apple, Netbooks still have the Flash advantage.

Oh, by the way, Netbooks also have the COST advantage. It's ridiculous that the cheapest iPad is more expensive than most NetBooks.

I'm an :apple: lover, but I REFUSE to blindly accept whatever the executives say.

Your extent of what it takes for doctors to run a medical practice is limited to internet searches. You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Your schtick is to patronize. You do a very good job at it. But an expert you are not.

I know doctors who run practices on netbooks. No way they could do the same on an iPad.

I know doctors who run practices on typewriters. No way they could do the same on a computer.

I know doctors who run practices with paper and pencil. No way they could do the same on a typewriter.

Etc.

Welcome to the historically doomed world of the technology naysayer.

But a laptop does a million more things than a iPad could ever come close to doing.

A million things a billion people who are interested in tablets aren't interested in doing.

Of course Jobs is going to slight netbooks and praise the iPad. He doesn't sell netbooks. He sells iPads. That's not ego, that's business.

Another really bad day for the Apple-haters.

There seem to be a lot of bad days for them recently. Which is why they are turning up the volume.

A tiny amount of unbiased critical thinking would be very welcome.
