Absolutely, yes!

Choice is good and thankfully there's a low-cost Mac available for those with modest needs/requirements, providing Apple with a larger customer base, driving more sales.

I'm sure they make a good profit on those low-end iMacs. Those mom & pops, schools, or just that student that wants to do simple homework on. SSD is the last thing on their minds.

Steve Jobs felt that if you make product that people love you will make lots of money. I don't feel like that's what Tim cook is doing. I think he is making products that have high gross margins. It will remain to be seen how long people continue to buy them.

Have to point out a certain irony in this remark. Steve Jobs liked to talk about how it was all about love, but when it came to making these lovable products profitable for Apple, he turned to... guess who?

Everything remains to be seen. ;)

This is an insane amount of cash and marketable securities to have on hand.

"Apple has $268.9 billion in cash and marketable securities."

Too bad Apple didn't use more of it to buy its own stock last year (or even better, the year before that).

They are in the odd position of never being able to buy back enough shares to fully satisfy investors. Could always have been more. The time is ticking down to where they will not be able to avoid a large one-time dividend, especially if they get a "tax holiday" on overseas retained earnings.

How come there are results of the fourth quarter if it is yet to finish?

Apple's fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30. They started the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2018 last month.

These numbers do not include iPhone X and only a couple weeks from iPhone 8 and Apple Watch 3.

Any questions haters?

Expectations were $1.87 and Apple did $2.07. Unbelievable.

Guidance is $87B for Q1...projects to almost $1B in sales DAILY.

Still undervalued and they’ve bought back close to $170B at an average price of around $90.

And apparently a tidal waive of cash coming in next quarter. Possibly tax relief to repatriate cash coming. I could see Apple bringing it all back to U.S. And crazy as it sounds they could issue a $100 billion special dividend. Which actually is what I want them to do instead of succumbing to the temptation some day of buying some other huge company for cash and thereby distracting from core competencies and changing the corporate culture.

500 to 1, huh? You have any numbers to back that up?
If you had looked lower in the same quote you would have seen the numbers. To back up the fairly obvious hyperbole.
Continued from above: 98% of people think all DOOMED posts should be doomed. This was confirmed by a stringent scientific poll survey conducted 15-20 minutes ago. Poll was sponsored by Leningrad Polytechnika... Go Polar Bears.

The reason why the doomed comments are funny is because of the naysayers repeating them for years and always being wrong. These posts wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the actual “doomed” predictions previously being made against Apple. Or do you think they just spontaneously started happening without any reason?
Used to be funny. Now they're sad and unimaginative. Belongs in the same category with "you're holding it wrong", any type of -gate, and "Steve would have never". Those comments are from a bygone era and are lazily brought up by people with no creativity of thought. This has also been factually proven to be factual by fact based fact finding fact finders factually finding it to be true 100% of the time in 98% of the instances it brought up. I only quote these facts to avoid you asking for more numbers from obvious sarcasm. Two instances of Poe's Law in the same thread might cause a singularity 83% of the time.

Ha. We are on the same page here. That is what I think is coming. I do believe Republicans will get some sort of tax bill passed. The repatriation is in their proposal released today. While much of that proposal won't get passed, the repatriation tax holiday is low hanging fruit that I don't think will be found objectionable by too many.

Cook said the 8 and 8 Plus became the best selling iPhones at launch and have remained there every week since. Tell us again smart ones on the internet how no one wants an iPhone 8...
And wait until everyone returns their X to get an 8!

They really need to get something else earning money. The 55% on one product, the iPhone is a bit scary. I would love to see Apple do more in the Services space. That is not driven by reving the same product over and over.

Yes. Just as TouchID was going to flop.

With some people actually thinking when it was introduced years ago that there would be street criminals who would accost you for your phone, slice off your thumb with a knife, and then run off with both your iPhone and thumb.

Just checked Apple stock after hours and it’s up less than 3% even though Apple’s forecast for the holiday quarter was very bullish. Amazon, Google and Microsoft release good numbers and their stock is up 5-10%. Apple puts out good numbers across all product lines and the stock barely moves. Google PE is 38, Microsoft is 31, Facebook is 40, Amazon is 278. What is Apple’s? 19. I’m with Jim Cramer. I think Apple is undervalued. And don’t trot out the BS about the law of large numbers. All those other companies I mentioned are mega cap stocks at record highs/valuations.

The price of Apple stock had already priced in earnings near these. It a common pattern for the stock. Sort of like, "oh you dropped off another gold bar. Just put it in the corners with the others."

Also, it is largely based on hardware, that the market knows is very susceptible to their product failing out of favor with fickled consumers. Google and now Microsoft, are service companies. They make a lot of profits from services like advertising-Google, cloud - Microsoft. These are business customers that buy year after year. And both markets are expanding rapidly.

You need an SSD no matter what because otherwise, your drive is going to eventually die. It's also a PitA to use the latest macOS on an HDD. Just ask my mom with her iMac that's high end in every way except the 5400RPM HDD.

Market Capitalization 11/2/17
1) AAPL: $826.2 Billion
2) GOOG: $712.87 Billion
3) MSFT: $649.57 Billion

Cook said "[Through carriers in the US,] you could buy an iPhone X for as low as $33/month. So, less than the cost of a cup of coffee at those nice coffee places."..

Uhmm... is it that expensive to buy coffee in the US?:D
Yes, in San Francisco. I work there but don't live there. I avoid buying anything there.

Apple's P/E has always in recent history been low, I think because of how their business model works. Low growth, high profit margins, at least compared to loss-leading corps like Google.

No, I quoted Apples guidance, which history has proven to be extremely accurate.

You claim Apple is a phone company. So how are they going to hit that $84-87 billion unless they sell a TON of iPhones? Specifically a TON of the iPhone X.

You last sentence makes no sense? I was being sarcastic,

I sure hope so. Smart move and priced right.

Wrong move, ripping customers off. But perhaps your a share holder? So of course it’s fantastic for you.

Anybody else find it disturbing that Apple's services are bringing so much revenue given the very high costs of their hardware?

They charge what they need to maintain roughly a 37.5% to 38.5% Margin. With the X Apple has introduced a new standard entry point of $999 for a phone. People complain about the price. However, it's really setting the new entry level standard that should be of concern. :apple:

Period! this is the last profit for apple. I am not seeing innovation than repetition. You will see next Qtr!
