It is definitely selling but how hot is questionable.. There are no lines and most places have stock. 10% drop in overall sales across all items might explain 10-15% stock correction.
Obviously, I have no inside information, but we have seen supply chain information taken out of context many times in the past.

The Xr's availability and the reported cut in production doesn't necessarily mean that sales are soft. It could mean that Foxconn, Wistrom, and the component manufacturers had very few problems cranking out parts and phones that weren't that difficult to produce (seeing as how they had a whole year of making the X and the parts for the X). If the production line built 10,000,000 more than planned and can keep up with a high demand, it would make sense for there to be a lot of stock in stores and for Apple to cut excess production.

Or it could mean that the Xr isn't selling and neither is the Xs/Max and that Apple is in big trouble.

The truth is probably somewhere in between. Unfortunately, we'll never officially know how many they will sell this quarter and for how much. It would be fun to see how far off these analysts are with this.

You actually believe this? And from the notorious wrong Nikkei? Same thing is reported every year. Usual bearish AAPL news while the stock is weak so shortsellers can manipulate the stock.

I hope it goes even lower so Apple and Buffett can buy more.

No one knows except Apple. All these articles have proven time and again to be nonsense. The supply chain is too complex for any "source" to understand fully.

Same thing was said about iPhone X last year.

BTW, this is how AAPL is manipulated. This fake news comes out during the buyback blackout period, so Apple can't buyback shares until tomorrow...knock the stock down more than would otherwise be possible.

Warren Buffett has a lot of apple stock because he believes in the isheep in continuting to buy iPhones.

He "likes the technology giant because of its devoted customers" - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...e-apple-says-iphone-is-enormously-underpriced

What breaking news is this? He's right. He understands consumer behavior and they aren't "sheep" for buying what they like. If Android were good, they could get more switchers.
Android has come along way and it’s pretty good, enough people buy Android phones and with Huawei for example making what appears to be good phones at a price that offers value for money plus all the features of flagships from both Apple and Samsung et cetera

I think more will swap as Apple need to realise that aesthetic‘s don’t always equal value and phones that cost over £1000 or $1000 when you can get a similar phone experience on android for $400 to the average buyer who are not OCD tech heads or privacy advocates, well Apple is going to lose out. People want value for money and when you buy iPhone and you can’t really see a huge difference between the one you had and the one you’ve got now you are on a slippery path downhill. That’s just my take,

I purchased the XS this year and it’s not a stunning update I have to say. Also and the new iMac last year was over £3000 and Apple are still charging that iMac at full price when its old tech now. If I were to buy this year I would buy a Windows computer and I would get a lot more for my money, I would also probably buy a Huawei mate pro 20, because it’s a good phone and does what I want at what I see as a reasonable and sensible price and they include the fast charger in the box! Not as an extra at £49

I wanted to get the new iPad Pro and it’s not the fact I can’t afford it but the iPad is just an intermediate device between Phone and computer it won’t replace my Mac and the price is truly eye watering and I fear I will see it as a mediocre upgrade no matter the benchmarks because it’s still held back by iOS. After all I wasn’t stunned by the iPhone XS after updating to it. The phone hasn't given me any more must have features really than my old iPhone 7 to be honest.

I could’ve been happy with the old iPhone it’s not that the new one is nothing special it’s just not in my view worth the price. What I see now is greed rather than value for money sadly, as I said that’s just my my view on Apple. A view that has changed considerably in the last few years and not for the better I have to say

First of all, there are several Android phones at, near, or over $1,000. Let’s not act like Android is the low cost option for iPhone competition. Sure, there are $200 Android phone, but that’s not what we are talking about. Feature for feature, you’re going to have to spend 7,8,9 hundred or more dollars to match the iPhone features.

Then there is the software. Android is not an appreciably better experience or even better at all, so no one on iOS is going to switch for the same, worse, or even slightly better experience. It had to be A LOT better for people to change or they won’t.

Many like iOS a lot more, so silly hardware specs aren’t going to help and Apple already has the best silicon.

Apple can always adjust pricing, But they have pricing power. They are currently taking advantage of that. If android had pricing power, they would exercise it too And the only reason they don’t, is because they can’t in general. The Note, Pixel, Galaxy S, etc are all nice phones, but not cheaper by a meaningful amount or even at all vs iPhone.

I agree with a lot of this. I’m not at the point where I say enough is evough yet but I can’t see myself putting up with the price creeping for much longer. I’m still paying because I prefer the Apple ecosystem but even if you are into specs and tech you can still get better android phones for a lot less. I’ve never had a good experience with windows computers but £1,100 for a MBA and it doesn’t even come with an i5 chip.

I don’t use my MBA a lot so there’s no way I could justify a minimum of £1,100 for a new Mac when the time comes to replace it.

Likewise I won’t be replacing my 2017 iPad Pro anytime soon. I can’t ever see myself using an iPad for more than content consumption and that shouldn’t cost £1,000. At the same time there are compromises with the budget iPad, such as a non laminated display and lack of quad speakers.

Well in my country I can get a 512GB note 9 for the price of the base model Xs max. However the base model note 9 only costs £899 for 128 GB with the expandable storage compared to the £1,249 I paid for my 256GB max. That’s £350 cheaper and hardware wise it beats the max imo. The max is better because of software and the ecosystem.

Also note these are the rrp from Samsung. This doesn’t even include promotions, trade ins and the usual reduction in prices after a few months which happens with all android phones.

The Max has a better screen (displaymate), better cameras (DxoMark) and the a12 destroys the Snapdragon 845. Then you have the software and support.

Note, I didn’t say the Max has a higher resolution screen, but DisplayMate said its a better overall screen.

As far as price, I think you have to compare base to base. $1099 for XS Max and $1,000 for Note 9.

Yes the max has a better screen but the one on the note 9 is excellent too. The A12 is a beast as was the A11 and the A10 before that but there’s still nothing to take advantage of all that power. At the moment the £350 extra for the max is worth it because of iOS and the ecosystem but if Apple keep increasing their prices exponentially then it gets harder for me to justify. My currency isn’t in dollars so I compare the prices in uk pounds which is £899 for the note 9 and £1099 for the base model of the max. That’s a £200 difference and you get more storage on the note 9.

In my country I can get a Mate Pro 20 with Android 9, 128GB which I could expand to 256GB, with a huge 4200mAh battery, 3d facial recognition and a built in underscreen fingerprint reader, a 40W charger, it supports wireless charging and uses a 7nm chipset which is faster than the Snapdragon 845, with download speeds if your network could ever support it of 1.732Gbps, The camera looks to be superb with a Ultra Wide Angle Leica Triple 40MP+20MP+ 8MP Camera, and a 24MP f/2.0 Front Camera and a OLED screen and USB C all for £899. Its got Android 9 which is a good OS, Android really has come a long way, and I do wonder how many users slate it without having used the latest versions. That £899 with the fast charger is very tempting compared with a iPhone XS 64GB at £999 or the 256 at £1149 without Applecare.

Now like others I'm not prepared to throw in the towel yet, but that phones specs are good, yes it has a few issues with tint on the OLED, so does the iPhone XS but its a better deal with fast chargers thrown in for the cost price, no paying extra. That s good value, and if Apple keep pushing the envelope of high price without things like fast chargers in the box Huawei will take up the slack in many countries I could imagine. Alas it wont make it to the USA I believe but here its very tempting. I'll stay with Apple for now because I love iOS but with this kind of competition Apple need to look at not only the pricing structure but also what's in the box I feel. Excuse the review, I detest YouTube reviews but it shows the phone and what it can do.

It can even wirelessly charge other devices. It’s a very compelling phone at a reasonable price.

That is a innovative feature, missing from this years iPhone but I bet its in next years along with USB C and a yet another price hike. I will keep my 256 Xs for as long as I can because if prices keep rising my next phone may well be a Huawei at some point in the furture as I cannot justify the price going forward when other companies are rising fast and I can get great specs at £2-300 cheaper I have to look at what I get staying with Apple going forward. The same goes for my 2017 iMac, its a beautiful machine but I could have gotten a greater machine spec wise for the £3338 I spent including Apple care in the windows pc world, even though I really like macOS. Also no way should a a 0.8 m Thunderbolt 3 USB C cable cost £39!

How is it spyware if it’s your choice to use the OS and accept the terms?

Do you know what is spyware?
Most people likely don’t understand it’s spyware. I wouldn’t even put a Huawei phone in my house.

All OS's, browsers and apps are reporting back to some mothership these days, Android, macOS, iOS and even Google gives you enough control these days to limit what's reported. Hell your iPhone is telling Apple where you are and what the traffic is like if you let it.

That is just ignorance on your part. Read the terms next time. It is not spyware unless it explicitly does something you did not accept.

The people that are complaining about privacy invasion don’t read the lawyer written terms of service and license agreements. Sure Google obfuscates where and when you accept those agreements but it’s all there.

Haha...“It’s all there” in language average people can’t understand and too long for anyone to read.

They’ve done plenty users don’t expect, even against the terms no on reads.
