That is way to reasonable and normal of a corporate type of operation. Apple did not become the most valued company in the world by doing what everyone else is doing.

My take is the Apple Car will rock the transportation world just like the iPhone did. Look at the archives of this site and you'll see hundreds of posts with "Apple has no idea about the cell phone business, Nokia, etc. will beat the **** out of them." from reasonable voices.

With Apple stock down a bit, it is a good buy. I'm putting my money where my mouth is and buying another South Bay house with the Apple Car comes out and the stock skyrockets.

The problem is you can see why its a bad idea, Apple putting all its research dollars into the Car, and its existing product line is suffering as a result. The Car is a drain on Apple resources because it is so far outside their traditional realm of expertise.

Now what happens if the car fails? The Mac lineup, the phone lineup and the tablet lineup will be years behind the competition and Apple will start to look and behave like the company it was in the 1990s.

Take a look for yourself how much trouble the project is causing Apple:

How does anybody know this information? Or is it just more speculation?

Same thing was said about the iPhone almost ten years ago. You need to bet the shop to grow. Playing it safe just creates stagnation. With this stock downturn -- which I'm sure Apple predicted -- I consider it a good long term buy in a few months.

There was also a hiring freeze when Apple was assembling its secret team for the iPhone. A lot of Mac OS X releases were delayed due to the lack of talent.

We shall see.

All of your cliche comments are vapid. None of you are saying anything worth a damn.

Quoting on low specs? Please, they are the first dual core cpu on a phone, the first high res screen, etc.... nickel and dime specs... you mean like all the other tech companies, fewer products? What are y'all talking about their line is THIN literately and with products. Just a bunch of haters on a band wagon. Let's see any of you smack talks rake in BILLIONS in pure profit.

This BS is simply corporate attack via stock market. Every year Apple rises and falls, it will rise again and then the reports will be how great Apple is. This is just a scam to cause a the stock to lower so the rich can buy low and then sell when it's high again.

Only the tools comment like this crap is legit.

Let the Apple-hater feeding frenzy begin!

I guess as a 30+ year Apple customer, I qualify as an Apple Hater.

Cook and Co. are destroying Apple. Despite the objections of the customer base, iPhones have been getting so thin that the headphone jack is now in danger. News flash -- I don't need to scrape paint off walls nor have any desire to use my iPhone as a spatula. I do however appreciate long battery life.

Cook has no passion for the products or user experience. iWork has been dumbed down to iOS levels, Aperture and iPhoto have been replaced by Photos and OS X is being uglified, become more user abuser and has taken a back seat to iOS. Jony Ive is out of control making uglier and thinner phones, Laptops so thin that there's no room for RAM sockets, turned the Mac Pro into a non-expandable joke and basically degraded the rest of the Mac line into nice looking but disposable appliances. Tech support has gotten so bad that my two main problems are 18 and 7 months old and no resolution in sight. And it took two calls to customer relations to stop tech support from closing the cases!

It's no surprise customers, especially long time users, are becoming disillusioned. The Jobs years are over and the Sculley/Gassee/Spindler years are back. Apple only knows how to gouge its customers and make poor decisions.

The BOD is doing nothing when they really need to be shaking up management. I doubt Apple will really find itself in seriously dire straits again, but things will get worse before they get better. I'm glad I sold my stock when it was in the $120s because I don't see it getting anywhere that for a long time and for the first time in three decades, I'm wondering if my next computer will be a Mac.
