Oh capitalism... Sad to see regular people focused so hard on the profit of a single corporation (including the entire stock exchange, which is basically like betting on horse races). Also sad to see that corporation focused so hard on its own profits, neglecting quality or ideals where it doesn't make them more money.

I'm sure you have no quibbles with the taxes generated from capitalist profits that fund all your fav gov't entitlements.

Booo Hoooo, Those bad republicans won't give me a free handout, booo hooo!!!! I want "rich people" to give me their money, Booo hooooo!!

Wars for oil?? Boy you are a real brainwashed loser aren't you??? Enjoy your life renting Michael Moore movies with the money you get on your public assistance check..

Pfffttt

No one demanded free handouts, but since the wealthy are not building roads or power lines, nor are they paying the police, teachers or anyone else (with the exeption of their Mexican nannys and gardeners maybe), it would only be fair to demand that they pay at least the very same percentage as the middle class, right?

And what else do you think wars are waged for other than the geostrategical interests of the US? Since the US economy is absolutely super-dependent on oil imports and not able to produce enough on their own even if they drilled like crazy in the entire gulf and the Arctic, reliable oil supply is very high on that list. If you don't realize that, you are extremely naive.

There is a middle ground between Michael Moore's blatant and silly propaganda and plain ignorance towards the issues of unregulated capitalism and an outright aristocratic political system. (The US is the only Western country where you HAVE to be wealthy in order to gain any form of regional or even federal political power.) And, it's funny (and worrying) how quickly the biggest crises of laissez faire regulation are forgotten. That includes the oil spill, which has already reached a point where people other than locals stop caring.

iPod touch + Phone?

does Apple needs to get a approval from ATT it apple has to release a iPod touch with Phone (with out cellular data access)

will this device is part of the ATT and APPLE 5 year agreement?

i think ultimate is iPod touch becomes some form of phone; eventually it is a phone with iPod or smart phone with iPod

i know current iPhone does everything... there will be more sales if there is no mandatory data plan requirement and 2 year agreement and reliance on Network providers for the agreement.

countries like India there are more prepaid subscribers than a monthly post paid customers; they just get the phone in full price;

with $699 iPhone 5 is no go
with $299 iPod touch +Phone might be definite Hit

Well, the Canadian economy and the CAD look brilliant right now. Especially compared to their Southern neighbour. Also, what does it matter who is a superpower these days. It costs a boatload of money to maintain, and it seems the US can't even use that power for anything else but to look stupid.

Lets see, new product launches.

I can see the trackpad that just passed the FCC launching with new iMacs in September/Oct.

I can see new displays, a new 24" and the long rumored 27" being launched when the new Mac Pros are launched.

My bet is the iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac Book Air get launched at the same time some time around the end of this quarter/beginning of next.

MSFT will post a bigger profit number. I'll gladly suck that down. :D

That's this year. Market expectation is that Microsoft will be stagnating, while Apple continues to grow. And Google is preparing to take a huge chunk out of Microsoft's software revenue. Next quarter could be the last one ever where Microsoft posts more profit than Apple.

The Soviet Union had a far worse record vis-a-vis the environment then the United States. Also Europe burns a lot more coal then the USA. Let me know of some socialist utopia which has wondrous environment with no pollution.

Who cares about the Soviet Union. This is so typical. We are no talking socialism here, but all you teabaggers can come up with when it's about sensible and careful regulations is the friggin Soviets. We are not in 1985 anymore, hello?! Who in all seriousness would want to be in a place like North Korea?

By the way, you are flat wrong about the coal consumption. Americans consume more than Europeans, both in total and per capita (both are dwarfed by the Asians). Look at current numbers here: http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9023786&contentId=7044482
Far more relevant is the fact that Americans produce twice as much CO2 per capita than Western Europeans. At the exact same standard of living.

Generic Jive Turkey ('70s term) Critics

The proud open coder: Apple is one big corporation! Evil capitalism!

But Android, on the other hand, is also made by a gigantic but noble corporation, that pays for its searches with ads, and sells your info to ad agencies which it also owns.

No "evil capitalism" there.

The best case for capitalism you can make is to compare the U.S.S.R.'s computer industry to ours. Did they ever make their own home computer?

You don't like Apple's style. Okay.

In the U.S., the richest 10% pay over 50% of all taxes. They would love to only pay only their 10% share. BTW, their 50% share of all taxes ends up paying half the salaries of the police, public school teachers, etc.

One time they tried to sock it to the rich by highly taxing their large recreational boats and yachts. Didn't bother the rich that much, but it put thousands of boat builders and dockyard workers out of work. So who was paying all these workers before this tax fiasco?

It would be interesting to know what percentage of Apple products the top 10% in wealth buys (and thus funds that percentage of Apple R&D for new cool products for you).

Not by much, and considering the margins MS makes on software compared to Apple with hardware, what Apple has done is even more impressive. But, as they say, haters gonna hate :)

Agreed. I am not spending years worth of precious time in college to make money for other people. There is a sense on entitlement in the United States for those that have to give to those that have not. If I make a boat-load of money, it is my money. If I want to share my hard earned money, then i will.

Once you or someone you love becomes sick (I truly hope not) and can't work anymore, you might see that there is another side to this story. Also not everyone has parents with enough money to buy them college education. I bet you had.
This is not about giving free money to every slacker round the block, but to the ones who actually need it to survive, and maybe to give people somewhat equal chances. Also someone has to build the roads for your car, the power lines to your house and the police to keep your neighbourhood safe.

Let's hope they spend all that money wisely and a lot on R&D so we will see more new brilliant products next to the desktop and mobile devices they already make .

iTunes store rev exceeded $1 billion.

holy crap!

Yea, thanks for the reminder. I saw that and originally thought the same thing. Then the data center distracted me.

I don't know if they are reporting the breakdown of that revenue. It would be really interesting to know how much is from Apps, songs, TV, movies, etc.

???

What the hell is going on here? Why exactly are we talking about politics? Take your @sses to the comment section of some political site. Or leave the left vs right sh|t at the door yo.

It's really a shortsighted argument to demand lower taxes for the wealthy just because they pay more in total...with that kind of reasoning the tax would need to increase with lower incomes. Truth is, the top 10% earn and own well more than those 50% of all wealth. The top 1% already own 35%, while the "bottom" 80% own 15%. So much for "fair share" of taxes. The ones that are really screwed are the middle class. They pay more taxes per $ of income than the rich, it hurts them much more and still they don't really have a chance to rise into the ranks of the wealthy.

Yeah, the boat story, I'm in tears. The only problem with it is that the wealthy rarely employ that many people, companies do. And companies don't require the existence of wealthy people.

To be clear: "wealthy" doesn't mean making $100k per year. It means making or owning a hundred times that much.
