Can they paint the AirPods with this so people finally stop complaining about what they look like?

(For the record, I’d stick with the white ones so I can still find them between sofa cushions.)

Although there are other options such as skins, Apple has never offered a matte black MacBook.
My first Mac was the black plastic MacBook and it was matte black. Definitely not glossy as far as I remember.

Yeah its true. And, the Powerbook G3 in black was a gorgeous machine. If this ends up feeling like that I might be in.
The black first gen MacBooks were really good looking too. I always thought it's funny how the logo is upside down on the Powerbooks and early iBooks.

Long live this wonderful Black MacBook that I had... running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4!

I used to have one of the Powerbook 3400c. It died in a horrible accident. I dropped it when entering my office once. I still feel the pain I felt that day.

Yeah I liked how those looked too. Way better than the white. Damn top cases wouldn't stop chipping through. One of Apple's all time worst fails was that top case.

This is unnecessary BS. Quality anodization of aluminum is extremely durable and looks great. Bicycle component manufacturers figured this out 30 years ago. If Chris King can do it, so can Apple.View attachment 1686759

Apple knows how to do color:

The issue is it's not that durable. Bike wheel hubs are actually a pretty protected component, but they still get pretty scratched up. A large flat slate of aluminum would show scratches easily.

I always get silver ipads and macbooks precisely for this reason. The scratches are more hidden since there is no anodization.

One of the most important hw consideration is thermal. Having a body that absorbs all visible light = heating up really fast.
The case also radiates heat from the system and, though it depends on how it’s colored and how the surface is affected, black heat sinks generally perform better. I’ve seen numbers in the 6-8% range.

Indoors, black may be a net win thermally.

At the equator, at noon, the Sun is about 1kW per square meter across the full spectrum. That would mean if this is truly black across all wavelengths, a 16” MBP lid would absorb about 88W. I suspect here black would be a net loss since the internals generally dissipate less than that.

Have you found that the Space Grey Macbooks finish wears easily? I have pretty acidic skin so don't want to wear out the areas where my palms rest but always gravitate towards black/dark colours for my tech.

"Although there are other options such as skins, Apple has never offered a matte black MacBook." Really? Whoever wrote this obviously is too much of a n00b to remember the aptly named BlackBook.
