I wonder why both the Solo 3's and the Power Beats 3's have been released but not the Beats X?
What's the diff?

It's quite horrible to realize that the point has come where I begin to GREATLY enjoy bad news from Cupertino, but not because I wish them harm, but because this is the last thing I have any hope for to correct Apple's course: cold hard failing.

The more and faster the better.

Cause I'd really love to get back to no-brainer purchases from this company.
They are awesome when they don't suck and do all this slacking, penny pinching, etc...
They really are.

Glassed Silver:ios
You know what? I didn't fully understand that I felt this way until I read your post. I've been really railing against Apple lately, and kind of enjoying the bad news as well in my own weird way. They've bragged about themselves for years. Their keynotes are so pompous sounding now. "Only Apple can do this, only Apple can do that, it's magical and courageous, blah blah…" It gets to be so annoying. I want them to taste failure because I hope it lights a fire under their backside to do better. I want them to be punished for neglecting the important things so that they fix them and make better products. The worst thing a company can do is fail slowly. If you fail quickly, you have time to react to what is happening before you lose your key employee talent, hurt your brand image beyond repair, and water down your entire product line which takes a lot more effort to replace. Failing slowly means people there become apathetic and deaf to your customer base. It's the worst thing that could happen. As you say, the more and faster the better.

I find myself wondering if I can upload my iTunes music library to google music.

Yes you can. I have 2 iMacs (a late 2012 that dual boots OSX and Win10 and a late 2015 Retina) along with a Macbook Pro mid 2014, along with two iPod Shuffles, an iPod Touch, two Apple TVs, Two Time Capsules, and an Airport Extreme. So I think it's fair to say I'm fairly well into the eco-system. However, I made the decision after trying them to go with an Android smartphone when I got my first one. I based that off a choice of wanting to be able to set up the homescreen how *I* liked it, so it worked the way *I* wanted to to work, as opposed to the strictures put on my by iOS (I'd been using an iPod touch for a couple of years by that point, so it was a decision based on experience). Since then I've stayed Android as I've found it's by far better for me (YMMV).

It's very simple to load all your music up onto Google Music. I have it set up so as soon as I add anything into iTunes it's automatically added to my Google Music library too. It can also sync playlists. I split my listening between streaming from Google Music when I'm in the car but sometimes use the iPod Touch. Search out Google Play Music Manager.

Since I've just got my Pixel, I'm trialling the full subscription service from Google. I may drop it after the 3 months is up, but the jury is still out on that. What I *can* say is that it works well, and since my £16 SIM-only with 3 gives me unlimited data & no roaming charges in a host of countries, it's one of the better deals I've managed to set up!

THIS. I hear a lot about "but I'm too far into the Apple ecosystem"--but that's usually from people who have never tried stepping outside of it, even once. The truth is that no matter what you use (PC/iPhone, Mac/Android, etc), the software and hardware of any device you get has matured enough to the point that it will work well with each other.

So please tell me what the hell all the people around the world working for Apple do? Because it sure isn't developing hardware of any significance. They can't even find a few lost souls to keep the Airport up to date. Let alone make a pair of stupid headphones that work. THIS IS PATHETIC!

This forum has been invaded by a seriously bad wave of negativity in recent months and the critics will seize any opportunity to criticise Apple and Tim Cook, regardless of whether they have any personal stake in the issue or not.

You might be right in that these are different people, and it's honestly getting pretty tiring to go to any new topic and instantly get overwhelmed by the whole tide of negativity.

Don't the whiners here have anything better to do, or at least take the time to type out a more well thought out response?

As Winston Churchill said “Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body; it calls attention to the development of an unhealthy state of things. If it is heeded in time, danger may be averted; if it is suppressed, a fatal distemper may develop."

So you are happy with planned obsolescence, laptops are lasting longer and longer these days. Moores law is coming to an end.
I'd imagine if I was to look through these threads there are lots of people saying they have another 3 years out of an Apple laptop and here you state they are ready for the bin. Which is it?

Here is some news for you things change. I asked you to tell me how all these points don't affect the user experience and all you can come up with is its my fault or i am holding it wrong?
Say I get a new camera and I need more storage or I start to edit 4k video files. You think it is a good experience running a drive near capacity
or plugging in external drives when I can get a better experience just swapping in a shiny new SSD?

Really good experience being 'forced' to by extra insurance and what happens after 3 years? I still have a dead laptop if any one of SSD, RAM or Battery goes. What a great experience.

Really? Is that all you can come up with?
If I need more storage or ram on my current laptop, I don't need a new one, I just to the shop and buy an SSD/RAM stick. these are almost consumable items.

Yes I hear that a lot, lets save space at the expense of experience.
Poor argument you have lets market a pro computer at non pro users. Thats what the macbook is for.

We want to be able to use the computer, we want storage, ram and connectivity. We don't need paper thin devices.
Also like you state, thin does not equal light.

You are thinking about it all wrong, its about the experience of being shafted when you go to an Apple store and they tell you its a new laptop you need when your $500 RAM goes because it also has a $1500 SSD and a $300 WIFI card

Again where is the user experience today? I have no USB-C devices, I do love USB-C and will get devices, but heck, give me a single/2 USB-A port to plug in a permanent USB-A device (Backup Thumb Drive, Mouse dongle)

I give up 5 usefull ports today for 4 useful ports tomorrow. I live in the today, not the tomorrow. Its also a strawman argument.
Apple could have given 3/1 or 2/2 on USB-C/USB-A

And Apple taketh away the magsafe. One of the best inventions ever.
I can also dock on my XPS.

Again crap experience

Not for a long time until they added multitouch to the mouse.
Also it has to be the most unergonomic mouse out there, do you agree?
I never see people using Apple mice.

I just told you I do charge and listen at the same time. I'll give you one example, I am using Waze on my phone in the car and listening to Audio over 3.5mm AUX and because the navigation sucks battery, I need to charge it.
Again crap experience.

No, perhaps in quicktime pro, but that would be a poor experience let alone having to purchase another piece of software, but having to export and spit clips would be like eating razor blades, yes it can be done but why would you want to.

Aperture was Apples Pro Photo management software that was a competitor to LightRoom.

You have a valid point there but on the face of it thats what it looks like.
But its not counterintuitive. People on here are pissed at Apple.
I used to be in your shoes defending Apples decisions at work. Now I am on the other side.

When all Apple gives you is lemons...I'm sure there is some kind of meme in there...

I used to love Apple, I used to watch every second of their keynotes and salivate at what I wanted next.
They could do no wrong, I would shrug off when people would say at work, "And how do you copy files on to and off an iPhone?" etc

Then Apple comes along and takes A LOT away. Much of what they take away is in the name of thinness these days.
On balance, Apple has taken away more than they have given me.

Yes there is a lot that Apple has given me and they do make sexy products, but their brand sucks to me at the moment.
2nd all o that.
What the 3rd gen fanboys don't get, is that the majority of "negativity" nowadays is delivered by 1st & 2nd gen fanboys. We used to defend Apple in the 80s, when PC was serious business and the Mac "just a toy". Then again in the 90s, when product sprawl and lack of vision nearly killed Apple. Then in the 2000s most of us loyal supporters were finally vindicated when we saw broader adoption of Apple products into Fortune 500s.

There was a lot of cheer and very little criticism at each new product launch or product update. I watched each keynote with great anticipation even after Steve was gone. After the last 2, I'm done. I just sat there smh.

It's like that feeling when your favourite team finally wins after years of being the underdog. Then they keep winning until one day, they decide to change coach, manager and players. The malaise set in. They're still playing in the big leagues, but you've stopped watching their games coz there's nothing left to cheer for.

Mine works great. I'm loving my 7 plus with $30 Bluetooth buds I got on amazon

Er... Yeah, it works just fine with any of the literally THOUSANDS of bluetooth headphones available on the market. From $5 to over $1,000, with wires, with headbands, neckbands, no bands, there's a model for everyone. Yes, I'm disappointed the AirPods are not shipping yet, but for ****'s sake it's not the end of the world.
If you have to have a W1 set, get the Powerbeats 3. They're available now at the same price. Yes, they have a wire between the earbuds. No, they're not as cool. But they have a really long range. Otherwise, there's a plethora of excellent bluetooth headphones that work perfectly with the iPhone. Chill.

Neither of these posts have anything to do with what I said. I'm specifically referring to Apple products.

Context clues.

Wrong. It was specifically replying to your post and everything to do with what you said.

What a joke. Remove the headphone jack and your flagship headphones can't even work properly in time for release. What a wonderful way to propel us to a wireless future.

The Iphone 7 comes with headphones in the box, plus thousands of Bluetooth headsets available now in every price point that work well with it. Including beats which is (arguably) apple.

If rumor is true that they are converting to Bluetooth 5, they may be the best buds out there. Worth the extra wait to fine tune a better product. If you want rushed products, go Samsung!

Tim is just failing, Apple Watch is a failure in its intension of becoming a highly desirable fashion item. Mac range is a joke for price over performance and now even Headphones have delays. Least the new campus is running on time ;)

Maybe that has to do with the fact that someone other than Apple is leading the construction? :D
Now that you mention it I wonder if the Macbook Pro (which isn't very "Pro" BTW) was priced to pay off the new campus?

Wrong. It was specifically replying to your post and everything to do with what you said.

Apple sits on the board of the BT SIG and helped develop BT 5. I would be surprised to learn that they fabricated a custom chip that was not firmware upgradable to full BT 5 standards -- which will surely be backward compatible to the current 4.x standards.

Courageous enough to remove a ubiquitous port like the 3.5MM jack, but not courageous enough to have flagship accessories ready to support the change at launch.
For anyone who doubted the importance of a visionary at the head of Apple, 2016 has confirmed the fact that Job's was Apple and the new regime lacks true leadership.

They also have terrible audio quality--I prefer the Bose.

And if they are BT 5 capable, what device they connect to could benefit from it? #FakeNews

Clearly you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I am pretty sure based on the massive protesting on this and many other forums along with the many interrupted use cases, that the decision to drop the 3.5mm jack was rushed as well.
