I have actually tried some. I just never found anything actionable in the data provided. Great, there's the data. What do you then *do* with it? I've never found a good answer. I'm certainly curious to learn what you actually do with the data and how you use it to make modifications/improvements. Note that I have a pretty regular routine, with only slight variations due to circumstances.
1st, I get the hours & quality I've slept. I don't have regular days or nights at all. I need to track my sleeping, so I get enough.
I can feel like I've slept good but when I'm working on something, existement can be bigger then sanity for what I know I would need of sleep.
2nd I can see what kind of depth/quality/movement of sleep I had. And more....
Polar is adding even more info in their newest software/watches.
I'm sure there's apps that do maybe the same to AW, now and/or coming.

Apps speaks for AW for sure, I'm not stuck on a certain company's apps but can choose.
And I of course love .
But charging every day for +1 hour???
Maybe wait for AW4...instead?

Tracking sleep is the same as to track running. Of course I know how good a run felt, but see how and when I was peaking my HR and for how long. How HRMax gets better, how HR gets lower while you get better etc.
When I recognizes how things affects my sleep I can get it better too.

Sleep affects workouts, and vice versa?

Still reading up on AW, apps....will give it an additional few days to consider what the heck is best for me right now. Forerunner, a new Polar or AW3 (no LTE needed)?
I'll guess I'll sleep on it a few nights, answer comes :D

That's the first actionable use of data that I've seen. Thanks.

Me? I have a specific time I get up six days a week. The other is "sleep in" however I like most times. As such I have a specific time I strive for lights-out. If I'm tired, whether from poor sleep the prior night for whatever reason or whether from a lot of work or stress during the day, I go to bed earlier.

While I'm sure the AW4 will make incremental improvements, don't expect something like the battery life of the old Polar RS200SD.

BTW, what do you currently do with your phone? Does it not need to charge every day?

Tracking sleep is the same as to track running
When out on a run, I use the watch to help keep to particular pace range. Or to maintain a particular %HRR zone. Or even just running off in a particular direction and turning around when I see I've covered half of the intended distance. I'll use intervals functionality (AW doesn't have last I checked) to signal do interval repeats. All of this is about helping tune/adjust the run while in the middle of it. Not looking at data afterwards. Sure, that review is important in training to help gauge planning for runs and so on, but my biggest focus tends to be functionality while out on the run itself.

I'm unsure how I'd utilize a sleep monitor to make adjustments while sleeping. :D

Never mind, just noticed that there is a more appropriate thread to complain about the hideous red dot. ;)

Cellular radio transmissions are fundamentally no different than wifi, so seeing as you're already bathing in that all the time, I think you'll be fine. :) Also, please note that there's no scientific basis for believing that these transmissions would have any harmful biological effects - or basically any effects at all really.

One would also assume that whenever your phone is in range the cellular hardware goes to sleep in your watch, so there's that as well.

(Not really my choice) but we’ve removed all WiFi from our house, so I only get what’s coming from the neighbors :p

But yeah, the “science” is dubious at best, but remember that more doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette!

Stuff has a funny way of coming and biting us back in ~50 years. I’m sure eventually they’ll find ways of making WiFi and cell reception using a fraction of the radio power it takes now.

What actions do you take based on this data?

Awareness of everything changes how we approach most things.

Maybe not an immediate action. But something that changes over time.
You move towards getting more sleep if it haven't been enough hours or enough deep & restful. You see the pattern. It's easier to see it, and comparing it with how you feel.

For instance, I have meditated for a long time.
If sleep isn't enough deep in balance to workout, I might meditate more, do more yoga & tag down on intensity a bit & being more receptive to what disturbs my mind during sleep.

I have found out during life, how immensely important it us to find the balance I NEED.
That is of course different for everyone. And especially different during various situations & processes in life.
To be aware of our internal life, emotional & mental processes & reactions to accomplish & live better.

Sleep is very much part of it, as that is an 'unconscious' time. To understand what's going on during that time in various ways is to become more aware of what goes on in our conscious life too. Subconscious space is very interesting.

All kind of training, I've found out leaning towards wanting balance, and keep it.
Sooner or later.
Sleep tracking is just in the beginning, but I like how that is taken into consideration more & more on training watches these days. Breathing, stress, meditation....all towards a training that is more about balance & away from only 'physical accomplishment' part. But the wellness of our whole being.

I'm unsure how I'd utilize a sleep monitor to make adjustments while sleeping. :D
Hmm, neither do I, not yet, but I'm working on it :D

I honestly thought that 3.0 Apple Watch would've had more sensors tech and a form factor redesign. A little disappointed in the new hardware all around, Apple. I will sit out for another year or so on my purchases.

Okay so I already preordered the AW3 and found out after the cellular is $10 a month for AT&T which kinda sucks but if its true that I get 6 months for free then maybe I'll actually use it. My only question now is if i say go to the gym without my phone and have cellular.. can i hook up my beats solo3s to my watch? All the pictures of music just show the apple headphones.. no real explanation on listening.
[doublepost=1505488333][/doublepost]Also, do you think cellular is free for anyone with a cellular model for 3 months or is it free AFTER you sign up for it. I'd love to be able to test it out for 3 months before i decide if i want it.

So I don't know if this was discussed already but why does the new watch only have Bluetooth 4.2? The phone has 5 now, but the watch is stuck at 4.2. Any reason for that hardware wise?
