That's like saying 'Nobody ever seems to be able to state a rationale for making it in the color red, beyond they like red things'.

It's something people are going to wear. They want to adorn themselves with things they like. Period -- end of discussion. No other rationale needed.

Actually, it isn't at all like that. A stoplight is red not because it's a pretty color but because it has meaning. It would be easy to come up with innumerable other examples of why things are shaped or colored as they are. So, no, your inability to provide a more sophisticated answer does not end the discussion.

Finally thought of a good reason, for me, to get the LTE watch. I take my 7+ to the gym and use bluetooth headphones with it. I get sick of lugging the phone around from machine to machine. I need to be reachable for work and I like to listen to music. An LTE watch will cover both of those things.

I've had a black aluminun with sports band series 1 since day one. Think I'll go silver aluminum with the loop sport band this time.

Dear Apple,

When are we going to see an Apple Watch SDK??

I mean, Jessie and Buzz are cool and all, but, uh, I’m an adult.

I called ATT, said it was $25 activation fee and then $10 a month and first 6 months free! :)

Yes, Apple Watch has always had bluetooth as that's how it communicates with your phone. I would hope that it will bluetooth into your car so you can use it like you do with your phone when making calls...don't see why it wouldn't work?

Thanks! shows you how much I've been following the watch since it came out ;)

I’m probably in the minority by I’m glad they are still making a WiFi only version. No sense having cell phone radiation plastered on my wrist 24/7...
Cellular radio transmissions are fundamentally no different than wifi, so seeing as you're already bathing in that all the time, I think you'll be fine. :) Also, please note that there's no scientific basis for believing that these transmissions would have any harmful biological effects - or basically any effects at all really.

One would also assume that whenever your phone is in range the cellular hardware goes to sleep in your watch, so there's that as well.

Useless if you want to track sleep too. Just as important to me as the training.
No, Apple are not there yet if you want to have the watch primary to training.
Not enough in AW3 for training and sleep tracking.
Yes, it will be a Garmin or Polar now, very soon. :D

I went to bed last night at 10:00pm and my watch was at 65%. I get up at 6:30am. It would have easily worked overnight while sleeping and I could've charged it in the morning.

Did anyone notice that the Stainless Steel version of the Series 3 is only available for LTE models?
This is a deal braker as not everyone needs LTE, and worse than that, the LTE version won't be available in many countries in Europe, like Portugal (mine).
Just a shame!
Seriously. Most of Europe is stuck in the dark ages again. Only France, Germany, UK and Switzerland support the cellular version.

This is what I do. I've slept with my AWS2 every night for months. I put it in Airplane mode when I go to bed, and it barely uses any juice overnight. It still monitors my HR all night, and it can download all the data to the phone in the morning. A few quick charges during the day at work, and it works around the clock. (I have the original charger at work and an extra charger on my nightstand.)

Goodness! Yet more disappointments for me with watch series 3. :(

If I would like the Gold Aluminium case I have to buy the pink sports band, and then purchase the band afterwards that I would actually like. Or buy a band that is less cheap, loud and nasty looking than the pink clashing with the gold case. The crown with a red dot completely lacks any sense of aesthetic.

I wonder if Apple are trying to get rid of their stockpile of cheap and nasty bands that few people would buy through choice? No amount of carefully selected CGI images, or lack of watch images with the red dot, on the Apple website take from my impression at the moment of this watch being aesthetically ugly. Ugh! What would the Aluminium Gold case with red dot crown and bright pink band look like?

Being optimistic, perhaps Apple might change the bands again this time next year. Or, I may persuade myself in the coming weeks that the new watch combination is not as ugly as it appears. Alas, I fear we are stuck with the red dot. At the moment my thoughts are shamelessly aggressive marketing from Apple, (which of course any company is entitled to, and will do).

And yes, before it's pointed out to me, these are my subjective opinions with which many will disagree.

You don't do outdoor activities I presume? I'll enjoy running without having to take my 7 Plus.

I’m always doing outdoor activities that’s my job lol I just take my phone with me I probably think it’s cause I don’t wear watches

I guess if you have a pair of AirPods, it would work pretty nicely. But I don't have them.

Yeah that’s true!

Hmm, you're saying...but still charging everyday, huh?
Can I turn off GPS on it to let battery last longer. Especially on winters a lot of indoors-workout.

GPS is only really active when it is turned on by some application such as when going for a run. The various workout apps typically have indoor-workout options which don't turn on the GPS.

In all the previous years I've worn wristwatches, I took them off and put them on my nightstand when I went to bed.

With my AW2 I continued to do the same thing. Only difference being that I set it on the charger on my nightstand. I don't bother with any sleep monitoring; when I wake up I don't need a watch to tell me if I slept well or not. :)

If that's how you reason you don't need a watch for running either, you'll know if your run was good

I still obviously haven't totally counted out AW3 totally as I am surfing for info and still in here talking, reading, still... ;)
But it seems to be a Forerunner235 or Polar A370 at this time. Ordering doesn't start until 15th on AW.
See where it goes. I would like a watch that had yoga programs & recovery status too....

I’m unsure if you’re trying to make a joke or if you’re just never used a GPS/HR running watch before. The two are completely different scenarios. For example, a GPS/HR running watch provides actionable information that is used during the run itself.

The FR235 is still a substantially better running watch than the Apple Watch 2. I've not looked carefully at WatchOS4 yet so I don't know what improvements it will bring.

I have used a few GPS/HR running watches. I know. Half joke

But you have obviously NOT used sleep tracker. It helps me in many more ways then just to know if I've slept well.
Getting to know our sleeping patterns are great especially if we have somewhat different routines than ppl who go to bed early evenings and up early mornings. It's just as important to me as track how my workout looks.

I'm sure FR235 is a better alone running watch, Garmin watches are great for running, if not the best.
I've had them before.
But I'm looking for a lot of more tracking this time.
The apps on AW is evolving so that's why I'm still in here. But charging it every day isn't appealing.

I have never done a launch day pre order. When they say Friday the 15th does that mean 12:01 AM? Does the site normally hold up in terms of traffic load?

Yes, 12:00amish Pacific time.

Store is usually really slow. Weird it's both iPhone 8/ATV4K/AW3 at the same time. But with the X coming later it might not be as busy as it usually is.

I have actually tried some. I just never found anything actionable in the data provided. Great, there's the data. What do you then *do* with it? I've never found a good answer. I'm certainly curious to learn what you actually do with the data and how you use it to make modifications/improvements. Note that I have a pretty regular routine, with only slight variations due to circumstances.

I'm sure FR235 is a better alone running watch, Garmin watches are great for running, if not the best.

Garmin also has its annoyances. Displays look nothing like the advertising makes you think they look. Software is often buggy or doesn't fully vet out features claimed. Still, they remain among the best choices.

I used to wear my FR235 all the time. (Had other previous Garmins too) Then I bought my AW2 Nike+ watch. I've kept my FR235 and use it for runs. I also wear my AW2, using it more for playing podcasts to my bluetooth headphones. The AW2 software hasn't quite gotten to where I'll leave the FR235 behind.

As for charging the AW2 it every day... I just put it on my nightstand when I go to bed like I've usually done with previous watches. I suppose if I were to want to wear the AW2 through the night I'd just pop it on the charger when I was getting ready in the morning, showering and dressing, then put it on a charger button sometime during the day in the office sometime when I'd be at my desk for a while. I had the same concerns before giving it a try, and found it's not a big deal in practice; it just tends to seem that way until you start doing it.

How about WiFi radiation? Cell signals are in 1800MHz(1.8G) carrier waves, WiFi Signals are in 2.4GHz and 5GHz carrier waves.

WiFi emits more power than your cell signal. Anyways your body is bombarded with lot of signals around you in this wireless world. Don't worry your body would have created immune shield by now :D

This, in my opinion, is what the first-gen Apple Watch should have been like. With LTE it grew to a device able for stand-alone use like listening to streaming music while running, having to pair it with a phone was kinda against its use case. Still, the chubby design with a way too small display for its case makes it a no-buy for me and I'll wait for the eventual redesign before thinking about getting one.
