This is really well done. I think Apple solved a lot of issues that other VR headsets had. Again, this will be the best VR headset by far, from what I have seen. Coming next year though. Interesting.
Umm, have you not just seen the Quest 3 on what it can do at a starting price of $500?

Has ANYONE in this forum ever used VR before like Meta Quest? I have, and I promise you, you'll buy it and use it a few times for the coolness factor, and then put it down and never touch it again. This doesn't add any benefit besides maybe watching a movie alone once in a while and playing a game here and there.

Watching movies on the plane is probably the coolest thing.

Who's going to use Adobe Lightroom on this??? 😂

The Quest is terrible. Seriously Meta has no idea how to design software and the hardware is uncomfortable and the experience makes you not want to use it.

I've always said you can't judge AR/VR until someone like Apple implements it. I hate using the iPhone analogy but remember smart phones before iPhone? Let me just state I am not saying this is an 'iPhone moment' for Apple but I surely will not let Meta be the ones to dictate how implement something this complicated.

So every time my prescription changes, I'm expected to buy some new Zeiss lenses for this thing? They couldn't just make it compatible with eyeglasses?

Clearly designed for people for whom money is absolutely no object.
I'm sure this is not nearly as overlooked as you're assuming.

Yeah with virtual desktop Wi-Fi VR on the Quest 2 it’s the PC doing the heavy lift game rendering so I’m certain it will be possible on this too, if someone figures it out .
They literally showed it interacting directly with a Mac - there isn't much to figure out with that connection already established.

Suitable for a person living alone, useful while flying, or using at work. My son is an adult now but I can’t imagine going to a park with kids and I’ll be wearing this!

Haters: Apple doesn't innovate. Apple: introduces something new. Haters: Stupid! Overpriced! Vaporware.

lol.
Thats the thing about haters. They dont care about being entertained and enjoying technology like the rest of us. Theyre looking for reasons to hate something. Yes it’s expensive. About the price of a spec’d MacBook Pro. Does that mean less people will buy it? Yeah. Does it mean some people WILL buy it and love it and their lives will be changed by it? hell yeah

$3499 for something that does even less than a Quest 2 headset. Ouch.

"But just think of the costs of buying a TV and surround sound alone"... A) Pretty sure I could buy both for less than that and B) How are other people in the room going to watch with me? Do we all just want to live alone in a one bedroom apartment? Is that the end goal? It's so depressing.
Can you elaborate on “does less”?

As to the social impact, yea that’s gonna be a problem, but isn’t the whole gaming VR crowd basically proud of embracing that? This is a problem that only Apple has for some reason?

10 years from now this stuff will be regular glasses, this is how we get there
