Way to go Apple…launch a $3500 AR headset in a recession. Even in good economic times this thing would be a failure at that price.
Considering the rumors pegged it as a device intended for early adopters/developers, it sounds about right. I wish it were less of course. Notice the "Pro" moniker. Suggests a non-pro device at some point with reduced features & price.

The battery pack looks dumb.

"We can't wait for you to experience Apple Vision Pro..."

At the $3500 STARTING price... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... I will NEVER experience it, except MAYBE an in-store demo that four hundred other people had on their face before me (not excited for that).

Also, I really don't think I want to spend hours with goggles on my face. From a purely tech-geek angle, this thing is kinda nifty, but... just... nah. This isn't going to be in my life.
At $Free I will not have one. The world will be divided into the masses that zombie out in these things, and a tiny underground minority who refuse them... until they are hunted down and eliminated.

Only zombies will remain.

The Quest is terrible. Seriously Meta has no idea how to design software and the hardware is uncomfortable and the experience makes you not want to use it.

I've always said you can't judge AR/VR until someone like Apple implements it. I hate using the iPhone analogy but remember smart phones before iPhone? Let me just state I am not saying this is an 'iPhone moment' for Apple but I surely will not let Meta be the ones to dictate how implement something this complicated.
It's not about the device... it's about the usefulness of it.

There are ZERO use cases Apple presented that are compelling that the Quest can't already do (movies and games). You completely missed the point of my post:

NO ONE WILL USE ADOBE LIGHTROOM ON THIS

Or any other "app" for that matter.

My son has a Meta Quest. I've used it extensively. You can put every app in the world on it and make it have perfect vision. At the end of the day, I still don't want to strap something on my head that covers my eyes.

I think this is opening new doors for new generations of this product be more and more compact to the point we'll be able to use it outdoors and everywhere. Apple planted the seed today, let it grow. A great, great product, indeed.

Yeah no. I don't think they did enough to sell that price. It has a few party tricks sure, but other more established VR kits cost significantly less and can do most of this.
Is this a VR device? Did anyone ever mention VR on stage?

Right, but like I said, I thought the other examples go without saying, but most every case they showed, who really wants to do that?

The Dad and has kid? The guy in the office?

People aren't going to do any of those things at any of the scale a successful Apple product has. Like I say, at most 1% of iPhone users will add this, unless it changes dramatically.

Let me ask you a question.

Do you think in 100 years when we are all long gone and dead some implementation AR/VR(googles or not) will be a popular thing?(assuming we don't blow ourselves up before then)

Apple has lost the plot, it will fail, it’s not even proper vr headset and way to expensive, don’t get it, this keynote has been a huge let down
What were you expecting? We got new laptops, new desktops, new OS revisions and a new product. I guess they didn't show as a farting unicorn, what a let down 🤪

This will be great on flights. I did not think about it until I saw the ad. Airlines could buy them and rent them if they figure out a way to sanitize them. People might not pay $3500 for one but would probably pay $50 to use them on a longer flight. At 100 or more per plane they could sell tens of millions just to the airlines.

I wish Apple (and Facebook) would just concentrate on making a glasses-free 3D display, as well as a 3D display option for iPhones and iPads. I don't get it. My 2015 HTC Evo 3D phone still gets the "Wow!" treatment whenever anyone sees it. The 3D is optional, and you don't have to strap something on your head. Apple should buy Looking Glass Factory instead and work on goggle-free immersive and holographic technology.

2 Hours is not enough! Means you have to have it plugged in the whole time.

Possibly hot swappable? some time of power onboard or something. Would need to be.

Nothing is going to change with that price. It won’t change how we use tech, with that price. Almost everyone could afford iPod, iPhone when they came. This is more niche product than Airpods Max.

Well of course it. this is the pro. the Vision ( non pro ) will arrive in a year or 2 for $999

My wallet is safe for the remainder of the year… gotta move a whole lot more $$$ into that savings account to get one of these
