OK Captain Obvious. What product isn't better or cheaper few years down the road?
2026 we get metamaterials and metalenses… THAT is the real target for mainstream market. This is developer technology.Forget that. One day we'll have ARVR contacts
Yupp. What Apple has released is less of an Oculus rival but more of a re imagination of the Mac + a large TV/Projector.This is incredible … the end of an era has started … this like the iPhone is paving what AR is … so much comes in my mind as what I can do with this thing … bye bye TV set bye bye computer screen bye bye iPad on a plane …
I love playing on my quest pro with controllers and integrated battery. apple's vision is diferent. These aren't age groups that generally are going to have $4000 (after tax) left for VR headsets after buying their gaming PC's and consoles. Not only that, no compelling games were announced.

I bet this is going to be flop.
Too ugly, too expensive, niche device, small market. Not an everyday device.
The problem here is that normal glasses will never give you an immersive experience like the one shown.Time to go scuba diving or skiing. 😂
I think this tech will be great once you can have normal glasses that can blend seamlessly. It will happen at some point.
Yes, almost certainly.
It will either involve something like this where the glasses are no more obtrusive than eye glasses, or where the displays are projected rather than worn.
This reminds me way too much of devices used in stories where we *have* blown ourselves up. Ready Player One, at least one Star Trek episode comes to mind, though I can't remember all the details. An alternate, dystopian version of the ship, has lost its holodecks and stuff, they are using a (still much smaller, wireless) device like this to escape their dystopian reality. The alternate captain wears it . . . in his death scene, while the ship blows up around him.
Ok and? One is 4000 euros and the other 500.
It's a computer don't think of it as an accessory. That is the price computers used to cost before we went with cheap Dell and hp crap. IBM PC's and PS/2 were 3-4k themselves...and compared to an iPhone...price is fine....infact I excepted 8-10k so I was pretty much excited and happy with the 3500.It does make us ask who is this device aimed at? Businesses, developers, rich consumers? It just seems such a left-field price for something that has a fairly public release. There’s alternatives on the market now much much cheaper and I’m struggling to even be the least bit curious.
Unless.. the strap is sold separately? If it replaces that ridiculously priced Apple Display, you're already there lol.
Existing products sre nothing like this capability. There is nothing on the market now much much cheaper. Nothing even close. It does make us ask who is this device aimed at? There’s always a sell-off after the WWDC keynote. Has nothing to do with what was said. Certain investors only ride the wave up to the keynote and then hop off.And predictably, AAPL stock falls like a rock. Thanks, Tim.
Please show me where I said the device has a clear front window? The very nature of AR versus VR means field of view is not "completely obscured". Words. Please show me where the device has a clear front through which you view reality.
You can sit down now.
First picture is one for the history books.
