I think these look pretty amazing. I’m a little surprised by all the hate.

Ahh, what am I saying, this is MacRumors, everyone is going to crap all over it, but it’ll still mysteriously fly off the shelves and be on back order for months.
Apple haters stalk this forum like they do on Twitter. They are obsessed with hating Apple. I don’t understand it but it takes all kinds…

Yeah, after hours of setup and teenagers trying to figure out how TCP/IP works.
Good. They learned things and worked as a team to solve issues. Team building at its best.

And cheating looking at other people's screens.

Let’s admit it. It was a fun thing to do. How many “how the heck did you know?” were pronounced …😂

i think it looks really cool, assuming it’s supported. But the reality is likely they’ll have to sell very few and keep going before it takes off. $3500 probably means £4000. I appreciate what it can replace, but only for one person. If you have a nice tv. A nice surround, want a real game console, have a nice computer - this is a very very exoensive personal experience. In ten years I can see this evolving to something spectacular, but will it last that long?

It’s not just about selling headsets - if people don’t buy it, developers don’t sell apps.

For everyone saying that they are disappointed, what the hell did you expect? I would want real answers not "Apple Sucks" or something similar. It appears to be a full blown computer, headphones, video screen that is capable of interacting with computers, streaming services and wireless phone systems that is apparently as easy as current individual devices are able to.

I DON'T KNOW if that is true, and I can't personally justify buying one right now but looking at the incorrect information people are putting into their replies here ("how can someone see your eyes") being a common one I don't think you either watched or at least didn't pay attention to the presentation.

I still think its too expensive for me but unlike the original HomePod which wasn't stereo and couldn't connect to most streaming services when released it looks like Apple at least learned something from that experience. POTENTIALLY, it could replace multiple devices, including a home computer *** and a streaming device so although expensive someone who wants the latest and greatest might want to buy one, and as long as there are no 'gotcha's' it may sell enough to catch on, eventually.

*** How much memory does it have and is that why it STARTS at $3499 because adding memory is really expensive and do all of your connections need to be wireless and what if you want to watch a stream (say Netflix) WITH someone else in your household....there are a lot of questions I would have but its not the obvious boondoggle that I thought it would be. Maybe it IS a not very obvious boondoggle but who knows?

Has ANYONE in this forum ever used VR before like Meta Quest? I have, and I promise you, you'll buy it and use it a few times for the coolness factor, and then put it down and never touch it again. This doesn't add any benefit besides maybe watching a movie alone once in a while and playing a game here and there.

Watching movies on the plane is probably the coolest thing.

Who's going to use Adobe Lightroom on this??? 😂
Agreed. I mean a very large TV, sound system, and a decent in-home theater will cost MORE than this. So I will wait for the reviews next year and see how good it is for at least watching stuff.

I see Apple haters on other social platforms too. It’s not Twitter exclusive. 🤣🤣

Looking forward to ordering 1 to see how it works! I'll be an early adopter!

Lol people here don't get it. This is going to be my next monitor for sure. It will replace a monitor, a TV, an iPad, or any other screen anywhere in the house (I won't wear this outside) and you can make it as big as you want. Infinite workspace. Gaming anywhere on a giant screen (yeah there no games yet but streaming should be possible right). On top of that you get cool VR capabilities.

I haven't been this excited for any Apple product since 2007.

Facetop? Seriously, this is something you have to experience IRL I think. But I can see the issue of bright screens close to your eyeballs.
I think i'll wait until they make a hologram version with no headset 😀

Another disappointment, this is just a big screen, no VR really it’s just a big screen
All the sensors are there - Lidar, multiple cameras (left, right: forward, down) - it's just the matter of using VR software programs.

Will there be an option that integrates the AirPod Max into the Vision Pro...?
I was watching while wearing them and was curious why only AirPods Pro were shown. Maybe the bands clash or interfere. Let's hope works, though by the time Vision Pro launches in Europe my APM will needs replacement surely (just got them).

1. When you say it's bulky then my question is compared to what? To other VR headsets? Not even close. They did the smart thing by not having the battery in the headset.
Not compared to anything. Just bulky. It's not a value judgment, just an observation. Bulky things tend to be less comfortable, heavier, etc. They've obviously put a lot of thought into design and fit and comfort, though.

2. Price is very high but I suspect since this is called the Pro version there will be a cheaper one in the future once they iron out kinks and things get cheaper. I think the idea here from Apple is this is the fully loaded device as they know if they cheaped out with a bad user experience this thing was DOA. They need to wow people.
I agree. I also think it will take several generations before we see a significantly cheaper model. They're not going to be able to simply reduce the number of sensors or cameras or use a cheaper display panel. They're going to need to bring costs down, not release a less loaded product.

The presentation around this product was technically impressive and the use cases were at least interesting ... some very interesting ... until the price was revealed. With that it was also revealed that it is a toy for millionaires. I mean not someone with a million or three in assets and a little money on the bank ... but people with hundreds of thousands in the bank and a ten million or more in assets. In other words, financially the top 8% of humanity.

The second challenge is that I don't see this product doing anything better than let alone replace any of the devices people use every day. I could envision maybe buying if it could at least replace for half a day my desktop monitor ... used as a super flexible external display of my MacBook Pro or iMac, physically tethered to it. But it seams it does it through AirPlay ... its not just good enough for it.

This alone exposes how this launch is nowhere near exciting for me as it was the iPhone launch in 2007. Beyond the way more sensible pricing of the iPhone also packed with future technologies and concepts ... back than it wasn't just potentially better than the smartphones let alone feature phones of the time ... it could fully replace them.

Anyway, the future looks enticing. But it is not as close it I expected it to be in this context.

Cheers.

PS: I may buy one, never unpack it, and sell it on an auction 15 years from 10 times more :)
I think that's pretty much the consensus.

I'm at a bit of loss on that part. Marketing it to the average consumer but with a price that more average consumers cannot afford.

But Apple doesn't make products that flop....according to plenty on here.
Ahem, Apple nearly died before they adopted the strategy that made them who they are now...most of these other companies are still doing things the way that led to those types of failures. This product obviously has had far more work put into it than anyone had expected, calling it a flop this far out from its launch is just absurd.

Anyone over 25 with a real job. Especially single guys in their 20s and 30s with a large disposable income. $3,499 isn't that big of a deal.

It's not meant for teenagers living at home with their parents, or in college. There are other demographics where a $1,000 purchase is done on a whim. $3,499 is choosing between a 1-week cruise, going to DisneyWorld for a week, or forgoing those for these. Then going on the cruise or DisneyWorld in 2 months.

Quite a niche demographic then. I’m 40 with a good job and I decent amount of disposable income but then this comes down to what people are interested in. This type of product for me is a gimmick and has been for the last 30 years since we were told on BBC Tomorrows World in 1992 that VR would be commonplace by the year 2000.

I highly doubt Apple are aiming this product at the general consumer, wealthy or not. This is more aimed at developers right now. If they are establishing it for the mainstream market, you can knock another £3k off this price.

The problem is how to get an IMAX cinema in your living room, now sorted where not only do you have an IMAX, but an IMAX on a beach (your beach if it overlays with pano shots) if you so wish!

Yep, complete with sweat dripping down your face and eyes from having a headset on, and having anxiety whether the $800 AppleCare will cover sand and saltwater getting into the headset. Beach use? Sign me up!
