I don’t think OLED will be for the iPad Pro.

mini-LED:

☀️ Higher contrast ratio
🔆 Higher brightness
🌑 Deeper blacks
🔋 Power-efficient
💣 Less prone to burn-in than OLED
🛡️ Uses inorganic Gallium nitride (GaN), won’t degrade over time like OLED
that "deeper blacks" is missleading....mini-led still have backlit...while oled doesnt lit the pixels on black
so Oled has 0 black level
the rest is spot on, you can add that oled will always have blue pixels fade away faster

What a rip, apple tricked everyone into getting the sham mini-LED technology, then flips the table with OLED.

smh
What?? Nobody had to buy. Everybody is fully aware that the next thing is always on the horizon when it comes to technology. So I guess nobody should ever buy anything in your opinion then huh?

Wow that's something I definitely want. Mini-led blooming gate is not looking good. While an proven cheaper tech like OLED would avoid that. And tell me when was the last time your iPhone OLED screen burned-in, you would likely replace your iPad before that could happen!
Enough with teh 'gate's' please - literary and figuratively (Bill & Melinda) ;)

OLED has infinite contrast ratio and it has deepest black (pixels are not even on) your comments are misleading. How is miniLed able to have deeper black? It’s still a backlight?

I think it’s time Apple focus on something more challenging than another improved ‘square’. Human teleportation perhaps?
well ... it'll be a stand-off of the future ....

Those that trust brain-interactive implants, a-la Elysium/Elon's implant or Watch+AR Glasses.

What would be stronger ... a Human rendered a zombie with no sensitivity to heat/cold extremes no pain and fully remotely controlled or a Boston Dynamic's automaton? Hmm.

I really doubt Apple poured so much hype and marketing into the XDR display only to abandon it a year later. There are clearly some aspects of a “pro” display that Apple believes can be best accomplished with an LED vs OLED display and mini-LED is the next interim step in the LED evolution.

I’ll be glad when Apple can consolidate on MicroLED.
I doubt it will get abandoned. The most likely scenario is that the 12.9" will stay mini-LED while the 11" (and perhaps other models) will go OLED. There are trade-offs between the two technologies, and I suspect fabrication limits what size gets each tech. Also, since microLED is stalled, perhaps Apple is hedging their bets to see which tech matures faster.

Do you really think miniLED provides higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks than OLED? You’ve got to be kidding.

Bottom line, oled is for casual users, mini-led for prof users and productivity
No prof user will work in dark room ,in non proper light up environment
Bottom line is Apple's anti-reflective coating is industry leading. As they point out in the video, that's a big reason for the difference. Just like LCD displays are different, but all still LCD displays, so are OLEDs (in fact maybe more so!).

Apple waited to implement OLED in the iPhone until they could do it they way they wanted (for a price they wanted to pay). I suspect the same is happening with the iPad. I'm sure it isn't a coincidence that Samsung and others are ramping up production of (larger) LTPO OLED panels as we get closer to the release of the long-rumored OLED iPad.

mini-LED:

🔋 Power-efficient

That's not entirely true, I have to correct you alittle

Higher contrast ratio, Thats is false,, Oled win
Higher brightness,, for now yes, that is true
Deeper blacks,, Absolutely NOT true
Power-effcient, Hmm, it depends on a couple of things

These OLED iPad Air rumours have been around for many months, since before the mini-LED iPad Pro was released. Furthermore, the same sources predicting the mini-LED iPad Pro were also the ones predicting OLED iPads. This shouldn’t be a surprise to those who frequent MacRumors.

We have yet to see micro led. That might be best. OLED may not be the future, even thought the tech is outstanding. OLED is simplest, but this simplicity may be it's undoing (or something like that :D. Sounds good?)

Both display techs have their distinct advantages over the other. As with all thing is comes down to what one prioritises given the typical conditions we each use our devices. While I use my tablet in the day it isn't my typical usage… as such the additional brightness of Apple's mini-LED isn't a particular advantage. But if I were to predominantly use it in the day then it would be a distinct advantage.

It's interesting how reflective Samsung's S7+ OLED panels are vs how non-reflective their top end QLEDs are.

Personally I think the vast majority of people would be happy with whichever tech Apple went with. Although, having said that I wonder how Apple would "sell" the loss of overall brightness if they were to go OLED. Unless of course next-gen OLED comes with significantly greater brightness and we just haven't seen it yet.

Not if price matters. Given the dimming zones available in today's iPP, vs say Samsung's QLED Neo TV, I doubt micro-LED is going to be that much better to warrant such a significant price difference.
