Is it just me, or is anybody else bored of Apple? Apple Watch, the first truly new product Apple has released in at least 5 years, was a huge let down. All Apple does these days minor refinement of existing products. I was looking forward to a new Apple TV announcement because that product is in desperate need of a big change, but rumors about that seemed to have died completely.

Other companies are doing VR or AR and making self-driving cars, mapping under oceans and coming out with voice activated home assistant products and set-top boxes that play games and respond to gestures and voice. Apple seems to be in maintenance mode on what seems to be an increasingly boring lineup of products. So they make a computer thinner or a tablet or phone thinner, so what. A touchpad that buzzes, big freaking whoop. They changed the shape of a battery, wow, stunning. Music subscription, join the club. The biggest thing Apple has done this year is global Radio, but really meh, I have been listening to online radio streams from around the world for a decade now, Beats 1 is nothing. The last WWDC keynote was boring as hell and all it did was show people how much catching up Apple has to do when they start bragging about things like snapping apps to the side of your screen.

Even the rumors on this site have become mundane and centered more around the day to day operation of Apple or announcing that someone is putting up a poster in an Apple store. I used to get excited reading blogs here when there were new and amazing products coming out including dramatic new re-designs of products. Now it is kind of sad really that people get excited because an icon changed on an OS beta.

Apple has a ton of money and simply no vision. Tim Cook may be a good janitor, keeping Apple running, but the loss of Steve Jobs is starting to take affect. Apple hasn't excited me for years now and other people I talk too about Apple are just as bored.

So Apple comes out with new colors for iPod's for a dying product market? Wake me up when this company does something great...or even something NEW again.

Not too surprising, knowing how in Apple's history they've been best known for their successful and great computers. Hasn't their company been known as Apple Computers before? Anyway, I see what you mean about them not making anything interesting. But do they need to? If their specialty is in computers and handheld devices, why ask them for something else? I guess what I'm really trying to say is APPLE, JUST GIVE ME THE DARN 6TH GEN IPOD TOUCH ALREADY :D

Because I'm an optimist for things like this, I'll still hope for one soon, but it looks like today isn't the day...

Now we need to figure out what's up with those colors?

Well guys, in this time, iGen was wrong, the new iPod isn launched this day, keep waiting ;)

Well, it's still going to happen soon, meaning later today or later this week - something like that. Not a month from now. They don't run down the stock in their stores for no reason. As I said before, right now, in the nation's 2nd largest metro area, when looking at 20 stores from L.A. to San Diego, no one has nanos in Space Gray or Red. Only one store (~the most rural) has Silver, and only they plus another have Blue. Stores with other colors? Pink 9; Purple 9; Green 7; Yellow 6. So at a minimum they're 85% depleted of nano stock around here (probably much more).

Maybe they're just waiting for virtually all the colors to run out of stock. After all, there's no event, and no official announcement date, so they can quietly release it when most current stock is depleted. iPods don't get enough attention for this to cause any PR problems.

I just hope they're not waiting to sell all the pink and yellow touches first, or we could be waiting a long time! :D

^^ that's what it looks like. Think about the current stock of iPods, they'll become dust collecting bricks as this long, long awaited update should be a major update. Who'll want an iPT 5?

Even if the iPT doesn't have big numbers in terms of profit, Apple has a huge problem with the AppStore. Too many apps, if they get rid of old junk and make everything compatible with the latest OS, they'll clear out a lot of old junk.

Apple prides itself on % of upgrades to the latest OS, getting rid of old stock will help keep these other numbers up.

Ok, maybe I'm biased here, but I'd really like to see a FULLY upgraded iPT and iPMini.

disappoint news - just like apple tv
and no apple tv
now new ipod then none ipod

so this fall ipad pro we know that no ipad pro -

maybe no iphone 6s either-"

This price difference is a good point, but it begs the question: why is an iphone6 $650??...
I'm sure some of the reason is that it is the market price - people are buying them as fast as Apple can make them so why should they cut the price?

I think another reason is that mobile telephony has a whole lot of patents that Apple (and/or their chip suppliers) must license. An iPad with an LTE receiver doesn't hit as many patents because it's a data device, not a phone. I don't think the entire difference in price is due to patent royalties, but it probably is a substantial amount.

Unless you know, you place or receive calls to people who don't have those. Like businesses, landlines, older relatives, etc.
As was pointed out, Skype can make calls to ordinary phone numbers. You can also get a phone number that will ring your Skype account. You need a paid Skype account - it doesn't work with the free accounts, but the capability is there.

There are other voice apps as well that can make calls to phone numbers. I don't know how well the ones for iOS work, but I've been using a softphone on my work PC for a few years, and (assuming you have enough network bandwidth), they usually work well.
I am excited with the news. I am planning to do a trial of 32GB iPod touch for home iPhone replacement ...
1. Can it take pictures as good as iPhone?
2. Can I use Apple Music?
3. Can I use Apple Pay?
Depends on the model iPhone :) An iPhone 6/6+ has an incredibly good camera. It would surprise me if an iPod Touch will be that good. But it might well be as good as the prior generation iPhone's.

Apple Music should work. It's part of the iOS Music app. I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Apple Pay is not going to happen. It requires TouchID and an NFC transceiver. Maybe the new iPod Touch will have these, but the rumor didn't mention them. If NFC is added, then you can bet it will be for Apple Pay (since it isn't used for anything else on the iPhone).

why do people still bother ipod when we having iphone - everything iphone can do that ipod do

Well I know when I only had android smartphones I didn't want to buy an iPhone but I did want some apps and that we're only available on iOS at the time so I use to use an iPod for that. Also if you have kids you might not want to spend money on an iPhone for them so an iPod touch is a good purchase for them.

Me personally I still like to have my music on a dedicated device. My music library would take up all of my storage if I were to put it on my iPhone 6+. I could definitely see myself buying an iPod touch granted it has 128gb or more storage.

Why don't we have hopes to have the new iPods be released tomorrow or later this week? Is it only because the rumor was pointing today's date or any other particular reason? I mean if the new device is produced already, they won't keep it for themselves for sure..

The rumors all pointed to today, but I don't really know why. Plus, the leaked images of iPod supply restraints increase hope. I still think it's plausible for a release later this week.

It's because the date on the iPod touch in the leaked pic was the 14th.
