I bought an M1 24" iMac last week, so it'll include the M2 24" iMac. I hope you appreciate my sacrifice, as there was no way they'd do it if I hadn't made that purchase...
It would be a big mistake, to launch MacBook Pro with an underwhelming M2 Pro & Max, mind u they did it with iPad Pro, can they be that stupid again? I suspect it will be the mini
Apple will make its first product announcement of 2023 through a press release on its website tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17, according to Apple leaker Jon Prosser. MacRumors can corroborate an announcement is expected to take place this week.

The announcement could be one of several products expected in the near future, including updated MacBook Pros and Mac mini models.
The updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to feature the same design as the models announced in October 2021, with only updated performance thanks to the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. An updated Mac mini is also expected to benefit from the performance of new M2 chips, but rumors suggest it will feature the same design as the current model.
MacRumors has also learned Apple will hold briefings later this week with members of the press and media on the new devices ahead of review embargoes for the new products lifting next week.

I strongly anticipate this as well, but can always dream lolPrepare to be disappointed, then. It's just gonna be the 14-inch + 16-inch MBP refresh with M2 chips.
For someone that doesn’t have a Mac at all, I’m sure those folks would rather have the highest number M that’s available. What’s underwhelming to someone that’s not buying it is a wonderful new toy to those that willIt would be a big mistake, to launch MacBook Pro with an underwhelming M2 Pro & Max, mind u they did it with iPad Pro, can they be that stupid again? Ehm...don't think so.Hmmm, my 14" MacBook Pro says it won't ship until January 27, maybe it'll be upgraded to the new version if they announce them tomorrow?
RIP. I'm still using my mid-2012 15-inch non-Retina. This M2 Pro MBP is what I've been waiting for since I wanted to wait out the first gen in case of issues (although it seems there haven't been many). If they launch, I'm going to have to order. The only decision I have yet to make is whether I want to change to a 14" or go with the 16".My Mid-2012 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro recently died and I am holding a funeral service for it in the near future. Information on the venue and the viewing are forthcoming… <lol>
In the meantime, I am looking forward to learning more about the M2 Max 16-inch MBP and it’s release date, so I hope tomorrow’s announcement will bring us some knowledge about that
Tic Toc and it's 55 minutes to showtime. M2 or not M2, MBPro 14 and 16???? Mini?

I don't know if we can say that for certain anymore. Apple has been doing press release updates far more often recently than they used to. I'm thinking it's a trend where only big pertinent changes will be released during an event. I really don't think this update is going to be worthy of an event, or maybe they will have a pre-recorded video they release with it to cover the updates. But I'm hoping they do release it tomorrow. I've been waiting patiently for the next update. The US site www.apple.com shows that but sorry to say that it's not new. Even back in November you could still see that. Just go to web.archive.org and paste the URL https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro/16-inch-space-gray-10-core-cpu-16-core-gpu-512gb. It looked like that on Nov 10th.
There's no way they would release M2 Pro/Max without an event. The only Mac that would get a silent update would be Mac Mini/iMac M2 since there wouldn't be much to talk about.

This would just be a chip update with no design changes or significant feature changes. It is exactly the kind of change that Apple has typically announced with a product release. It is not novel or significant enough to warrant an event on its own. There's no way they would release M2 Pro/Max without an event. The only Mac that would get a silent update would be Mac Mini/iMac M2 since there wouldn't be much to talk about.
I'm putting my bets on that. Makes sense since they did the M2 iPad Pro with a press release as well. It would not make sense to do an event as they've already gone over the M2 chip and no redesigns are incoming it seems. They would do the M2 Pro/Max in an event since that would be the first mention of it. (eg the M2 Air, with the unveiling of the M2)every standard M1 machine will get an M2 (iMac MacMini)
It's also on the education and government order pages as well. Wouldn't be a mistake if they updated all (haven't got access to veterans page) of the order pages for the 14 & 16.They already have "new" up for both 14" and 16" when customizing the order. I thought it was just the 14" originally. So it for sure is happening.
