I have a Mujjo leather case on my 16 Pro. Before that, I had a green fine woven case and it held up great. I get a new case when I get a new phone. I find it disturbing that people take Apple's choice to not make a leather case as a personal afront. Apple doesn't throw a flyer into the box of your new iPhone stating you're an eco-terrorist if you buy a leather case. Geez, people, lighten up.
It's just annoying because as far as leather cases go, Apple's one was probably the best one (albeit too expensive) without a weird logo slapped on it.

Just give people leather, jesus. The cows are dying for food regardless, so you may as well put the hide to use too. Sick of Apple's save the world BS.

Agree and another third party will sell it and make the money if Apple refuses to do so

This would be a lot easier and cheaper if they just ordered leather and stoped trying to appease the very small (but incredibly loud) minority.

Let me ask you this...whats so wrong with leather? as others have pointed out, the cows are still being slaughtered for food....AS THEY HAVE BEEN FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS...Leather products have been used for centuries as well. Same as wood and paper! What are we never going to eat beef again or cut down another tree to build a house? Also isnt there synthetic "Vegan" leather thats just as good? I know pleather tends to break down over time but idk much about various other forms of leather.

What about all the 3rd party case makers who use leather AND PLASTIC in all its various forms. What about Rubber like materials too? Those are used all the time in the armored cases like otterbox uses.

Why is apple so hell bent on this hippy dippy save the world nonsense? Im all for them reducing greenhouse and carbon footprints. Im all for them using recyclable material. These are good things but this stupid idea of fine woven cases over leather or fake leather cases is just stupid and is of lower quality at the same premium price!
Not sure why people think that leather is somehow "free" given the cow is raised for meat. The value of the cow to the farmer includes all the components, including the leather. If people stop buying leather, then either the farmer has to put up the price of the meat to compensate, or raise less cattle to increase the price per cow through scarcity. Either way, slightly fewer people can afford to eat as much beef and less cows are reared, leading to less land, food and water being used and less methane produced.

It is one of Apple's values to move away from animal products: whether you like that or not is up to you and you are free to either stop buying Apple products in protest, or just buy a 3rd party leather case.

How many years do we think until they drop this particular "environmental goal"?

i still rock the leather magsafe wallet. Although its finally starting to fall apart. Anyone know any alternative or even where i can get a genuine Apple magsafe leather wallet?

I rarely use a case except when traveling. When I do, this brand is best I have found for full-grain leather cases and wallets.

I don't use cases, so I don't care, but it's stupid as hell on their part. Just buy the leather and sell leather cases. How many failed attempts at making new cases will it take for them to take a hint?

I wonder if those square cube seats in Apple Stores near the back wall TV (at my local store kinda orangish brown) are real or fake leather?

I had a leather case on my iPhone 7 that started morphing after a year or two. In comparison, the Finewoven on my iPhone now is fine. Buttons work well. Magsafe wallet holds. Phone doesn't fall off its magsafe stand. I'm good. Is it weathered? Sure. But why is that an issue?

What i dont understand is why use man made materials? They are not green. Real leather would actually be the green material. They are not killing cows just for their skin. They are killing the cows so people eat. Using leather will produce something that will biodegrade over time, and something that was going to happen anyhow. Where plastics will take thousands of years. How did we get this so backwards.

If these guys actually ventured out of their bubble they'd realise that in, certain places, kangaroos are culled sustainably because they have to be. The leather is then used in a variety of products, such as football boots. Why are they not using this leather?

Now if Apple wants to lecture us on why its morally right or wrong to use leather, or perhaps even what animals it's 'okay' for, then by all means they can go ahead - but they're not fooling anyone with this virtue signalling. It's about as cringeworthy as their Mother Nature sketch.
Because Apple is crazy and would rather use man made plastics than something that biodegrades... Because you know... Green..

I'm confused by your reply – maybe you're unaware what toxic PFAS chemicals are and how they affect humans?
Yes, it’s the latest Internet craze. I’m not saying they’re not harmful but the level of harm is debatable.

If you’re someone that lives a healthy lifestyle then perhaps it’s something to consider.

If you’re like me, 100+ pounds overweight, bad cholesterol through the roof, shoving McDonald’s cheeseburgers and soda down my throat, it’s not a consideration.

My point is people are freaking out about plastic and afraid to touch paper receipts but eating toxic food every day. It doesn’t make sense.

It seems strange to me that Apple decided to stop selling leather goods and instead of just standing by their decision, they instead thought they needed to "replace" the leather with something else?

Why not use vegan leather? The FineWoven cases look remarkably cheap and i cannot see anyone choosing that case because of its "quality" or "luxury" in the same way people went for the Leather cases.

Using fabric as a leather replacement is never going to work, the two textiles are so different that it just makes people scrutinize the non-leather option that much more.

When I see the iPhone these days, I just get this image.

Also, the kind of leather they used for X-XS-11 series cases. They were cool! And more sustainable than any other option. They still look amazing with all the patina and tear and wear.
All the leather cases from iPhone 12 series were a joke, when 13 and 14 series’ cases were basically painted and discolored like ****.
Or at least they can license their patents on leather cases to other companies like Hermes, Nomad, Mujjo, Andar, etc., because so far every third party leather cases looks horrible for whatever reason.
