Let me get this straight. The new material will feel LESS premium than FineWoven?

LESS!?

And they’re still going to charge a premium price ?

Welp, I love your honesty. I’ve lost over 50 lbs and have 15 or so left and joined a gym. Granted, I was stuck in bed one day with a herniated disc that made me hope for a heart attack or stroke, so I’m pretty motivated to not go back to that. That said, my apple leather case I got on sale for $17 is my favorite thing I’ve ever purchased. I simply love it.
I’m pushing to lose weight and cut back on McDonald’s. I recently got a realization that I need to do something so I have a weight loss plan and have cut back on the Mcds.

I would buy a used leather case but it won’t fit the new iPhones lol

Just give people leather, jesus. The cows are dying for food regardless, so you may as well put the hide to use too. Sick of Apple's save the world BS.
I wholeheartedly agree, but the quality should be like iPhone 11 and prior leather cases! 👍

The last leather cases from Apple for the 12, 13 and 14 series were all but stellar... 🤮

Leather is not an environmental by-product of cows we happen to slaughter for meat anyways.

In many markets, leather is a significant co-product. The value of hides contributes to the overall profitability of cattle farming, so demand for leather helps sustain livestock production rather than simply using “waste.”

And even if hides are used, the environmental costs of raising cattle (deforestation, methane, water use) don’t disappear. Leather production adds further impacts through chemical tanning, energy use, and toxic waste and water pollution.

When leather demand rises, it will incentivize more cattle farming.

So moving away from “wrapping tech in dead animal skins” is definitely a good move from an environmental perspective.
Again, people are killing them for food regardless. So who cares.

Apple is planning to reintroduce a premium leather-alternative case for the iPhone 17 lineup, according to the leaker known as "Majin Bu."

Following the discontinuation of its controversial FineWoven cases, Apple is apparently planning to debut a new attempt at a leather-alternative fabric case this year alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. The new synthetic fabric will reportedly feature a more technical and less luxurious design.

Compared to FineWoven, the fabric is said to have a more rich, visible texture, as well as enhanced resistance to scratches and daily wear-and-tear. The material features a "rubbery, grippy texture," but feels less premium than its predecessor in favor of practicality, but questions still remain about its long-term durability.

The new fabric cases will purportedly be available in green, orange, blue, and purple. They will also adhere to Apple's environmental goals.

Moreover, there is also apparently the possibility of offering "Liquid Glass"-style cases, but Majin Bu provided no further information about what this could entail. It could be related to earlier rumors about a Liquid Glass color option for the iPhone 17 lineup itself, or perhaps be a new take on Apple's clear MagSafe case. The leaker also further reiterated rumors that the silicone cases for the iPhone 17 lineup will feature a lanyard loop.

Just bring leather back, seriously.
Leather is naturally, regrowing and more durable than any of these plastic and silicone “alternatives”.
I stopped getting cases from Apple after they discontinued leather.

What exactly for? 🤔

Why do I need an Apple logo on the back?
Today's iPhones as well as the rumored 17 design are so unique that everyone recognizes those phones as Apple iPhones...
It’s not about impressing anyone else or someone recognizing the brand I use. I think it just looks good. I like the Apple logo. If it was up to me MacBooks would have the light up logo.

Leather is durable, protects your phone , people like it and yet Apple refuses to give the customer what they want
Hate to say it but Apple starting to buckle. AI far behind. iPhone fold 6 years late. And what happened to the AR GLASSES Tim Cook once said were in the pipeline
Warren Buffet didn’t sell millions of shares of Apple for no reason
Not to mention the 4 or 5 people Meta poached from Apple

I didn't really have a problem with the worn case.

With this year's alleged orange phone, I am considering going naked (or using a clear wrap if I can find one) if I don't pull a 180 and get the Air.

It feels “less premium” than the fine-woven? So…even cheaper and less durable? I ordered one at launch and returned it after I I opened it and saw/felt how cheap it was in person. I didn’t even have to try it on my phone to see it was lower quality than cheap cases that cost half as much. I can’t imagine what this will end up like, and at what price premium Apple will sell it.
