Sure.
One thing wrong and everything he ever got right isn't worth jack anymore.
He's got a history of being very wrong in the last 24 months. The only things he's been right about have been long-standing, well vetted rumours. He's botched iPad sizes, keyboard changes, manufacturing locations, and more. He's notable for getting some things very right a while ago, but he's no more reputable than many other rumours.

I was against the notch. I thought it was hideous and greatly distracted from the user experience. But the legions of notch-loving fans convinced me otherwise... now, no notch, no sale.

For me, it’s if it HAS a notch = then NO sale.

Also, no headphone jack = no sale.

Also, rounded edges, or missing bezels = no sale.

Also, size and shape (and placement of buttons, switch, etc.) not identical to the 5S/SE = no sale. Pretty much if they don’t revive the SE, (or come out with an SE 2,) no sale.

My iPhone SE and its four potential replacements that I already own, (when and as replacing each becomes necessary,) should last me, if I’m careful with them, which I am, the rest of my life. (That was on purpose. I’m not paying even more money for LESS iPhone.)

As always, if and when the last one dies, and I have no more, and they don’t make them anymore, I’ll switch to something else. I categorically refuse to buy a crappier phone for more money just because Apple’s corporate vampires tell me I must.

I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record here, but it bears repeating. Screw the iPhone 6, 8, 8, 9, and 10 or whatever they’re on now. Every one of them, as far as I’m concerned, is defective by design. They’re designed to cost nearly (or over) a thousand dollars each, (which is ABSURD) and have fewer features, and be more fragile and easily broken with each successive generation, and I’m not paying ANY money for THAT, let alone MORE than my last one cost.

until now I'm upgrading my iPone every year, if it's true news about 2020- it's look like this year will be my last upgrade as I never like to use anything else than Face ID and notch never bothered me also from a beginning !

whoa, I hope you aren't this precise and picky about everything in your life, because living this rigid must be rough. I just buy whatever new phone is out and learn to embrace the new technology and design, if I hate it that much I look to another manufacturer, but I have yet to develop such distaste for an electronic device to be honest.

And people wonder why iPhones cost so much? All the R&D costs to engineer a fix for a "problem" that doesn't exist! Does the notch or pinhole really bother people that much? I still use my 7 Plus with (god forbid) A BEZEL, and I never even notice it!

How about just reducing the price of the phones so people won't hold on to their phones for 4+ years because iPhones cost >$1000!

Give us top-tier cameras, OLED displays and cut the price!

I have to say, I used to think like that, but my wife's Xs' glorious nearly full screen display blows my 8 out of the water. I prefer touchid to faceid, and I'd love for a device to be full screen but without even the notch, so this news is pretty welcome if accurate

Apple isn’t ditching face ID, that’s not even close to being a reality.
how do you know with such certainty?
As for touch ID under the display, I’m skeptical of Apple even bringing that as a possibility, especially being that Craig Federighi already commented that they experimented with this during the time Face ID was in the R&D phase, which obviously Apple chose the successor to be Face ID once it became optimal.
what Federighi said was almost 3 years ago,the technology wasn’t there at that point.things have changed and now we have fully functional, reliable and accurate under display finger print scanners that can get even better in next 1-2 years.
There are many advantages of under display FP sensor vs Face ID and no disadvantage.
Face ID isn’t going anywhere, it has everything to offer, as it still only has two years of being offered on devices, and just now being integrated into the iPad.
That’s you opinion,but many disagree.

I’ve been using Face ID since launch, initially liked it but the annoying issues never really resolved.

having too look directly at the phone to unlock to read a quick message, inability to quickly unlock the phone while it’s on a desk or when you are lying on the bed,it’s inability recognise face with certain sunglasses, or in different situations (when woke up in morning, when face and hair got wet when wearing certain head gear etc etc) are just few common and important real life examples that I personally experienced.

add to that the space it requires on top of display and as a result the notch that everyone hates.

with under display FP sensor you won’t need to deal with any of that nonsense.

it’s basically a superior tech.

The size difference between the 6S you are using and the current iPhone XS "phablet" is .21" in length and .25" in width... It will take your brain less than a day to get used to that, if you even notice it..... Notch will go away eventually....But again I've seen people who hated the notch and after using the new phones for a little bit it doesn't bother them at all, you get used to it.... And face ID is personal preference I guess, I love it and prefer it over touch ID, perhaps you should try it for a while and give it a chance.

You're absolutely right in the size difference but I find the 6S too big (and could've mentioned that in my OP). Always have, always will. I want an edge to edge 5S. That would satisfy my size requirements and pretty much be the same screen real estate as the 6S.

Better look after that 6s. I don't think you'll be upgrading any time soon.

I know, right? It's 16GB which drives me mental because 10GB is taken by 'System' which gives me 6GB to play with. Apps are constantly offloading to make room for more data and apps, photos. I'm thinking I'll just have to find a cheap 7 somewhere to hold me over (but then I lose the headphone jack haha).

Truly hope finger print unlock comes back

Face ID is very good but the sunglasses and other situations constantly present a problem

The notch delete is just icing on the cake

You're right

Now hide from fanboys

I still don’t understand why bezels are so offensive to people. Less complexity results in fewer problems in manufacturing and usage.
