If the tablet is only the core of a proper workplace with external keyboard, monitor and pointing device - why not? As others have said - it only boils down to Software.Yeah. I totally see me writing code and managing server farms with a tablet....
Several years ago Apple applied for a patent for using a tablet in a monitor acting as docking unit. So they are at least aware of the options.
This is more a reason of price and existing software. And the current trend towards (improved) mobility gains momentum even (or especially) in big companies. Most computers that are in use in offices are not going anywhere any time soon. When those PC's are end of life, they will be replaced with newer PC's.
It would even make sense, as the production numbers for the iPad are significantly lower than for the iPhone, so Apple could gather experience with big(ger) OLED on a smaller scale, before bringing it to their cash cow. It's not entirely impossible for the iPad to offer OLED over iPhone first.
To be honest - even an Air 2 is already screaming "Upgrade" here from the top of its lungs.I am still using a gen 4 ipad for most of my regular day-to-day needs. [...] I could probably get another year out of it, but I'd rather see a new release now that screams upgrade to push me to a new one.
