Kinda of a mundane ad. Doesn't say too much about the iPhone other than it has a nice camera. Ok that's great, but we already knew that...

It's ok, but not great.

Very well made ad except the message just plain sucks

More work is done on PCs than any other computer. Guess that makes them better? No. Tell us why we should be one of those people taking pictures with the iPhone.

Meh...not sure you can really make that comparison. Smartphones are vastly more personal than PCs and taking pictures is a very important component of smartphone use. The fact that a lot of people take pictures with iPhones implies that it is widely acknowledged (word of mouth or otherwise) as a very good camera.

Thats how i took the ad anyway

Great advertisement. Agree, you can feel that emotion in iPhone camera, i could not stop smiling watching the ad. Cause I have iPhone 5, i like shooting by camera (by different cameras including iPhone 5), the process itself, I found the image of people in ad connect well with me, because i also stand and shoot pictures that way.. I don't use iPhone's built in software because i use Pixelmator for post processing and I didn't know (or cared) for iPhone's filters, but I will give a try

Have you been following their ad campaign? They take 30 seconds to highlight one or two aspects of the device.

One about iBook
One about iTunes
One about Face time
One about the App store
This one about the camera

and so on... You can't cram everything into 30 seconds.

This is not the best ad Apple has ever done by far but it is leaps and bounds better than anything they have put out in the past year... I enjoyed it but I was expecting them to say "the best camera is the one you always have with you" I guess that doesnt promote the iPhone over any other phone though..

All things considered I love my iPhone 5 camera... It's no DSLR but as far as a point and shoot goes it is fantastic. The only phone cameras I think can stand up to it in everyday usage come from Nokia's pureview lineup.

It goes beyond just "hey it has a nifty camera" in that the underlying message is that the majority of people who take photos with their phones choose iphone. This could be any number of reasons from the ease of being able to edit the photos, the services used to store the photos, the quality of the hardware, and more. There are plenty of other smartphone cameras with more mega pixels than the iPhone 5 but it's the whole package that makes it the most popular smartphone camera.

The commercial is subtle with a solid message that is classic Apple instead of the slap stick rumor or over the top scifi themes of other smartphone commercials.

Also does anyone else know the music in the background or is it proprietary?

I just stopped looking forward to WWDC...highly doubting anything interesting will come if they are still creating new iPhone 5 advertisements.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great camera. But they don't commonly advertise their products this close to a new placement.

Considering iPhone 4S had the same body as iPhone 4 I think it's safe to assume iPhone 5S(?) will have the same body as the iPhone 5. If true, the general audience wouldn't be able to tell if that was an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5S. The only notable difference may be that iOS 7 could be different compared to what was shown on the screens in the commercial. Even so, iPhone 5S isn't rumored to be available until Fall 2013 which IMO is more than enough time to run this commercial before the new iPhone is released.

Just Saiyan.

I don't give a rats ass about a better camera.

This close to the release of competitors new phones, the ad is Apple's smoke screen.

Yet I do get that the women will love it. They're the member of the family that takes the snapshots of the kids. Or if younger, it's pics of Girls Night Out.

Whatever Apple does to grab more attention is fine, even if it has nothing to do with the rest of the phone. After all in those demographics "Selfies" are the current fad.

Isn't it Sprints

Isn't the commercial sprints? At the end it showed the Sprint symbol then Apple's. Apple wouldn't put a provider in its commercial.

Stereotypical AND sexist all in one post.

I think you might be talking about a different commercial, no? I vaguely remember sprint having an iPhone 5 commercial similar to this too.

I wouldn't expect any iOS devices to be revealed at WWDC. Just iOS 7 and 10.9 previews. Maybe Haswell MacBooks if we're lucky.

I miss there old ads when they were really creative! This was just fair honestly.

This one digs into the heart, especially with the closing scene of that girl laughing (nothing is more powerful than seeing a child's true smile and laughter), and the simple words spoken at the end. Powerful.

This is a really good ad.

The best thing about it is how they're starting to use the iPhone brand.

Great branding is when you immediately recognise the product. You know like Windows XP - as soon as you glance that blue start menu or grassy fields wallpaper, you know it's Windows XP. Even if you just catch a glance of someone's screen from the corner of your eye; it's an immediate connection.

I saw this interesting branding talk from Microsoft around the Vista timeframe. They got this recognition suddenly from XP and wanted to develop it. In that case, they went haywire and tried too many things (Aero Glass, blue/green 'Aurora' effect, etc) and they failed to really develop the brand.

The iPhone is as iconic now as Windows XP was then. This ad - until the Apple logo - could have been for any smartphone on the planet. But as soon as you see the screen, a good 90%+ of people will recognise it as an iPhone.
