Those are good reasons, but it's typically described as the Plus iPhones' screen has gotten big enough to *substittue* for an iPad Mini! And, that's hardly the case. The uninitiated are likely to overlook just how much bigger, more readable, and more viewable the Mini's display is.

The Mini's added "utility" is enormous... and it's convenience under-appreciated. The iPhone is great for on the go, and the + better than it is for viewing (if one can fit it into one's shirt pocket!), but for at home?! For watching video, ebook reading, web browsing, etc., there is no comparison. The Mini's display is nearly 2 1/2 times bigger than that of the Plus! It's also more convenient for many to hold and use than the big iPads.

I think many people hear a big smartphone can substitute for the Mini and buy that instead, or convince themselves there's no reason for a 2nd device, but haven't experienced how great using a Mini is! And, how much qualitatively better the viewing, reading, browsing, emailing, and typing experience is on the Mini than on the "small" screens of the iPhones.

We have had both-- the Mini for home and the iPhone for out and about -- and it's a great combo. We now have the iPad and the iPhone, but miss the Mini, especially for photography-- and for browsing and reading in bed!

You have to remember that most people don' t have the money to buy either an iphone and ipad.
Apple has all the salesnr' s of their ipads.
And they made the decision of not updating it, and perhaps stop producing it. Why would they do that? Not because it is a huge sales succes....
