Nothing Ives designs is going to look hideous as the mockup photo depicts.

Johnny Ives is a huge watch fan and owns several very high end time pieces. He will want something that can compete in the high end space, not some crappy Samsung looking piece of garbage.

You embarrass way too easily.

Once you stop being a nerd, you become aware of your social status and obligations, which is why you do things to avoid being embarrassed.

Things like wearing a smart watch as an adult in public.

Once you become an adult individual you can stop being embarrassed by trivialities, such as other peoples opinions, and concern yourself with the things that actually make a difference in your quality of life.

If you are wealthy enough to post on macrumors, the majority of any technology you buy would be considered by at least 10% to 20% of the world population to be an equally extravagant expenditure, hundreds to thousands of times more expensive than their daily income. Justify yourself.

Same applies to watch buyers.

sometimes i feel like i see things no one else can? am i like this kid that can see dead people from that movie or what?

there is a huge difference between a 100$ phone and a 700$ iphone
but most of the 1000$+++ watches have no difference from the ones that cost 200-300$ except for a brand name and some promise of precision hand crafting and a nice box.

About what? If someone can buy a $500 to $1000 phone they can just as easily take that same money and decide to buy a watch.

Price doesn't need justification. All it needs is someone willing to pay it. You are also missing perspective. For someone with the means, tens of thousands could be the equivalent of tens or hundreds to you.

yes maybe i do lack a certain perspective but if it was me i wouldnt pay for something like that only just because i wouldnt like to think of myself like the kind of person who is going to fill the pocket of someone who thought that if i can do it, i will do it.

and mind you im one of those who is willing to pay extra for something just and only because it looks better, but there is a price point where enough is enough 100-200 maybe but tens of thousands no thank you i wont be the reasons these people laugh on their way to the bank.

Not a chance, it has to be a consumer level product.

No way. iWatch won't have a touchscreen, it'll have a 3D beamy thing giving a hologram effect like off Star Wars, all which is fully interactive. This means if you need more real-estate or add new features, it's not a problem; one of the main advantages when the iPhone didn't come with a physical keyboard. Otherwise there's no advantage to a small touchscreen; it won't add any functionality to the ecosystem. It won't be as good as an iPhone/iPad for browsing, making calls, or anything else. It'll be redundant.

My money's firmly on Apple popping in some technology 5-10 years ahead of their competitors' pipelines. If they perfect it they could easily have it running in tandem with an iPhone to make calls (much like OS X 10.10 will), without the limitations of the Galaxy Gear (crappy sluggish interface and tiny screen).

Sounds cool but I doubt it..

.

You look like someone wise and versed in timepieces. It would be better for all of us to listen to your thoughts.

well this would certainly make more sense than having one size for men and women.

I still hope it will not be a device that looks like a watch.
Last thing I want is a cheap disposable watch from Apple.

Well it doesn't make sense to have a smart watch when you will still need a phone in your pocket for functionality . What a waste of money if you asked me except for the loyalists . :)

Oh man! I didn't realize product details had been released! What else is required for functionality?

tell me then what makes the difference between a watch that costs 2000$(look i picked something already expensive) and one that is 20000$ not counting any gemstones

I bought, and still have, a Rolex from 1984. It is in no way obscolete.

How do you bring a digital watch to market made of quality material knowing in one, definately two, years it will be a dinasaur. And how do you get someone to pay the premium for said watch over and over and over again.

can someone explain what justifies the price tag of tens of thousands of dollars for a watch and why would anyone buy it?

because all i can think of is that there are a few people in a few social circles who have too much money and the only way to stand out from their friends (or maybe fit in?) is to get something which costs 0.1% of the money they are paying, to make.

One of my prized possessions is a pocket watch manufactured in 1906. My great grandfather purchased it used as a young man and carried it his whole life. Most of the gold is worn off the case from rubbing against his cloth pockets. It still runs and keeps accurate time.

I suppose you think he was waisting the equivalent of more than $2,000 in today's dollars for a watch his great grandson can still use. Mechanical watches are unmatched by any other technology.

This is what children and freshmen libertarian nerds do: they live in their own, self-absorbed world.

Adults are more concerned with other people's opinions of themselves.

Your opinion about yourself is insignificant compared to others opinion about you.

Other people determine your quality of life, not you.

Do you think you would have a job if other people didn't think positively of you?

I thought you were the connoisseur, it would make more sense that you explain why are they the same, wouldn't it?

... and you start being a snob or having no personality ...

Are you implying people should stop being snobs?

Because I am implying people SHOULD be snobs.

The last thing YOU want is to be treated the same as a person of a lower class. You want to be treated better than a person of lower class.

This is the ultimate meaning of life: to get ahead of other people, not to be treated the same as other people.

Life is unfair, as it should be.

Being a snob implies that you think and imply that you're better when in fact you aren't. People should want to be better, not just want others to believe they are better being false.

Snob comes from ·sine nobilitate·, which means without nobility. Or what is the same, that you want to look like a noble when actually you are a pleb.

as far as i know watches were expensive back then and actually the equivalent of 2000$ us dollars back then was a worthy price for a nicer watch even if say there were cheaper versions because as you say it is a nice watch.

but we are in the 21st century no metal or any kind of manufacturing process can justify most luxury watches extortionate prices

I don't have a job, I'm retired. I had jobs before I retired because employers were looking for people who could think for themselves and not be overly concerned with life's trivialities, like what kind of watch they are wearing.
You have considerable maturing to do. You are exactly 180 degrees bass ackawards.

And everyone should live my your standards of what is 'extortionate'?

Yeah do the opposite of what you say, because you have everything wrong.

In life, people want to get ahead, not just get by.

That is why the entire fashion industry exists.

Also, I don't understand where your statement implies you were employed because your employers have no opinion of you. Like I said, you were employed because your employers have a positive opinion of you.

Therefore, your quality of life is decided by others, and their opinion of you.

And that's how you get ahead as a pleb: to cause everyone else to think you area ahead of them.

This is how marketing, and life, works.

I'm sorry to tell you this but if you want to get ahead as a pleb you should become rich and powerful, and that's possible because of your skills. Saying that you're rich and powerful does not make you rich and powerful.

Fantasy is for children. Being snob implies in fact that you are not a noble, or what is the same, rich and powerful.

None of the people, or organizations, I've worked for cared more about where you bought your clothes, or what type of watch you had on your wrist, than they cared about the quality of your work.

I'm just not "getting" the need for this product.

I haven't felt excitement about a new Apple product in years. Maybe I'm just getting old.
