This is nothing more than a securities firm attempting to manipulate stock value. They’re publishing information that means nothing given the complexities of production and inventory across a global market, not to mention the scale that Apple operates on. I showed my iPhone Air to a business friend yesterday and he was blown away by it. The lightness and yet robustness of it. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, including multiple business trips and battery was never an issue, which I can’t say was true of my former 15 Pro Max.

Interesting, I see. On paper it should last longer than 15 Pro. Do you often “stress test” the device with non-trivial or pro apps like for example games or video editing? I.e. exactly the things that can activate throttling.

I’ve heard various reports on the web but had not used it for enough time to understand battery life, but by the magsafe charging powerbank I assumed battery life is not ideal
Those are all jobs for an iPad (for me) 😄. I use my phone mostly like a phone (web browsing, camera, music, podcasts, navigation, social media).

It seems like when most people say the Air has bad battery life, they mean “the 17 Pro and Pro Max get better battery life”. But no one is upgrading from those phones. There’s a good chance the Air gets better battery than the phone you have.

Wait wait wait, but it was “selling out” in China! I have read this news article just today🙂

Don’t wanna sound toxic but they could have put a better battery inside and made a smaller size. Too gigantic for my hands, despite the nice weight
What's more impressive...

1) Selling out when you make 10 pcs of something
2) Selling half your stock when you make 1000

I don’t mind if they don’t update the Air every year but it would be hard to go back to carrying a brick by comparison.

Hope they keep the line and give it an update at least every 18-24 months.

Add one camera and figure out increasing the battery 20% and it’ll be perfect.

But in the mean time the battery life is good enough and I’m a pretty heavy user.

Can go all day from waking up to going to sleep without running out and without topping off. Gets down to 15% by then. But a bit more buffer would be nice.

Well, I have just been to the Apple Store. On their front glass doors one side had a massive “PRO” text and the other one “AIR”. In the Store itself, they had special shelves dedicated to each line, showing all the colours (for Pro, Air and Regular). What I am trying to say is that in a physical shop all three models were well presented, with more accent on Pro and Air, but not the regular 17.
Not my experience at all at my Apple Store in a major US city. The Pro was advertised in multiple inside and outside the store. Air was nowhere to be seen outside of its designated table in the store.

It was a nice try but they really need to just cut that line. Mini, plus, now this. All sales bombs? Just do regular and pro max. That’s all that is needed.
What they really need to do is rotate on a three year basis. Meaning 1 year you get a mini, next year you get a plus and so on. I understand that from a supply and production point of view this is hard to optimize, but at this point they are playing this game anyways so might as well bake it in. Or just abandon all together as you say, but that might eat into their revenue.

I was at the Apple Store in Geneva.

The iPhone Air truly is a beautiful piece of engineering and it feels so fresh.. but it has too many compromises, even for the casual user. I think it could work if they add a second lens and maybe increase the size of the phone to accommodate a bigger battery while maintaining the thinness.

Apple priced it too high. Customers aren’t as naïve as they think. People today are far more knowledgeable about features and value. Just look at how well the standard iPhone 17 is selling compared to the 16 from last year.
Correct. The problem is that when pricing a new product you really are setting a ceiling price for the device. If they set it too low and it was much more popular than expected they would be leaving money on the table for the life of the product. So managers set initial price high. It is usually easier to reduce prices [or in this case reduce production] to balance supply/demand.

Note that this does not mean that the iPhone Air is some kind of fail or a bad product. We do not know where Apple puts break-even sales at, but I would bet that they easily met that metric.

It’s not that the Air is a bad product. It's just a bad product, NOW. We're living in uncertain financial times and no one has the disposable cash to go for an early adopter luxury feeling item. The Pro and regular iPhones have a dependable track record, even if boring design.

Technology isn't magic, the Air is already using a fairly cutting edge battery design, so how on earth will they make an even better (more capacity, ergo bigger) battery while making the phone smaller?

When I went to the Apple Store to pick up my orange 17PM, I saw and held the Air for the first time--honestly, I was smitten, I absolutely loved how it looked, and felt. But the compromises related to the camera are why I didn't go for it. I hope they don't abandon it--I really liked the design.

I said it on another report on here and I'll say it again. No one wanted this, no one asked for this. Fix what we have, work on the OS and refine it to near perfection, across the entire line up xOS26 is a hot mess atm. Increase battery and get rid of Tim Cook. Sorted!
