Still rocking a 15 Pro Max here, but this is interesting - Of all the 2026 iPhones, the Air is the only one I'm interested in.

I suppose what's stopping me is the camera system. If they could get the Pro cameras into the Air, then I'd be all over that.

Rocking a 15 Pro here for just under 2 years and happy so far with it but the Air is the only phone that has also intrigued me to upgrade this year otherwise I can probably ride out this cycle for another year with this phone.

The camera is also what's hesitating me, I can go down to 2 cameras but down to 1 is a bit of an adjustment from the 3 I've had the last few phones.

I appreciate everything about it, but most of us depend on our phones way too much, and shorter battery life is a non-starter.

For other things, like an iPad which is heavy enough already, and usually use indoors with a plug nearby, no big deal, make it as thin and light as possible and I am right there. But not for my phone.

Hopefully battery technology one day makes this tradeoff unnecessary.

The real question with the Air is:

A. Are people finding it intriguing for what it offers?

Or

B. Are people finding it intriguing simply because it's different?

The former has staying power for a product, the latter does not.

It’s not that the Air is a bad product. It's just a bad product, NOW. We're living in uncertain financial times and no one has the disposable cash to go for an early adopter luxury feeling item. The Pro and regular iPhones have a dependable track record, even if boring design.
No, it is not a bad product; period. Perhaps the initial price is too high for blockbuster sales, but that does not make it a bad product.

With the smaller battery, single camera and higher price, the Air might have had too many compromises for most people. Maybe this will dampen the craze for thinner devices.

It had other flaws, but fragility wasn't one of them.
Don’t forget the single speaker. Having said that it might drive more people to use headphones on public transport, so maybe single speakers are the way forward 😂

You know i miss the times where we just had the 1 iPhone launch each year. Those times were good. So you had the S year and the regular year iPhone and also just launch the 1 iPhone with the regular and plus size to keep everyone happy.

I guess it depends upon your definition of good or bad product?

I think "how it sells" and/or "does it sell enough" is a component of a product being good or bad or "good enough".

I don't know how we could argue otherwise.

A product has to sell successfully enough, otherwise it's at least somewhat of a bad product in that the right choices weren't made to make the product successful enough in the market.

For me it’s enough phone for my needs, while being a more elegant product than Pro and especially the Pro Max.

Because it was the best phone Apple ever made. It was the perfect size and weight, and only needed ProMotion and a telephoto lens to round it out.
I like the mini too, and I have one, but it didn't sell well. The majority of people didn't want it. It's like mourning the Touch Bar. There was a niche section of people who loved it... but most are glad to know it's gone. IDK what phone I will get once my 13 mini gets unsupported but I just find it comical how there's such a cult following it gets brought up in every single forum.

I might buy an iPhone air and just keep it in its box sealed and maybe in 30 years time it will be worth something at an auction.
