The phone would not display "Press any key to unlock" as shown. There are no keys. More likely, "Touch screen to unlock"
[doublepost=1477524498][/doublepost]As for size. 5" to 5.2" are the sweat spot with edge to edge.

"Hey Siri...unlock my effin' phone!" That's how it'll be done.
[doublepost=1477524903][/doublepost]So now instead of clingy glass screen protectors, there will be a market for clingy glass back protectors. I better patent that right away! :)

There are still likely to be physical volume and power buttons for a while longer, but eventually we are likely to see them go as well, making hard resetting even more challenging

not this already, i know its a rumors site but geez the 7 JUST came out.

Yeah that's assuming you are in the luck group to have them. Heaps are still waiting for their phones

It would make some sense for Apple to retain the old design alongside one the new 'all screen' one. It will let holdouts gently transition to a new concept of no home button and different usability and erganomics.

It's personally a shift I'm happy with and a lot of others are too, but I know it will be difficult for many. I think if Apple have learnt anything from the backlash against larger phones from a small but vocal community, it's that users have a mush stronger personal attachment to their habitual use than they would with - say a notebook.

And I wished for 4", 5" and 6".

Why is that, you are not going to buy 3 different sized phones so I can only conclude that you have chosen those numbers because they are integers, which makes no sense at all.
[doublepost=1477539211][/doublepost]I can't see apple making an edge to edge display with rounded corners, that would be plainly idiotic.

great. now we'll have a "way too big" size to go in the lineup between "too big" and "way, way too big"

Seems a bit much to have three models, especially if you start having 3 or more colour variants.

they have 3 models now: SE, 7, and 7+

I could really learn to like this, but not sure about the wrap around screen viewable from the side - I cant really seen a need, and as others have said having the sides of the phone to hold you don't want to press the screen accidentally just holding it. I would be happy with the screen stopping 0.5 to 1mm shy of the entire edge, and just enough shy of the top to fit in the camera and earpiece, with the bottom bezel sized to match the top, so maybe 2-3mm max. I guess you could extend the screen to the sides but not have touch sensors right at the outer edges, or at least ignore that section of the screen touch sensor.

Now if they could incorporate the front camera behind the screen, and have some sort of earpiece in the screen so it's like a proper earpiece not a hands free speaker turned down (I don't want everyone to be able to hear my conversations), then I can go for an all-screen front. To gain internal realestate they may have to make the phone a mm or so thicker - just enough to make the camera lenses flush again, and also this may give enough room for a larger battery lol

next year is the day the iphone has 5" edge to edge screen, no bezel means the screen is big but the phone size is smaller than the iphone 7. sweet

The 8 is in 2018, this noob analyst should know by now it's the 7s next year.

Because past behavior is always an indicator of future behavior? Because Apple's release schedule is already written in stone? Because it would be "unfair" to anyone who just purchased an iPhone 7/7 Plus with the intention to keep it a couple of years, amirite?

Apple is working on three new iPhone 8 models to be released in 2017, all of which will include glass-backed bodies, reports Japanese news site Nikkei. Previous rumors have also pointed towards three iPhone 8 models, but past information suggested that Apple would release one "premium" glass-backed model with an OLED display and two "standard" aluminum models rather than three models with a glass body.

Citing a supply chain source, Nikkei says Apple will release the three iPhones in the following sizes: 5.5 inches, 5 inches, and 4.7 inches. The site still believes one premium model with a curved edge-to-edge OLED display will be sold alongside two models that have standard LCD displays.

All three iPhone 8 models will use glass supplied by Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology in China for both the front and back, which will be held together with an aluminum frame. Foxconn has been working on glass backs, but Biel is said to have the technological edge.

Because it is early in the development cycle, Nikkei warns that Apple's plans could still change and it could decide to scrap plans to offer three devices. In 2016, early iPhone 7 rumors also pointed towards three devices, including one 4.7-inch iPhone and two 5.5-inch models, one with dual cameras and one with a single camera. The single camera model was reportedly scrapped six months ahead of the iPhone 7's launch.

Rumors suggest Apple is planning on introducing significant design changes in the iPhone set to be released in 2017. Along with an edge-to-edge display that includes built-in Touch ID and other sensors, the device is said to include no Home button, advanced biometric features, an improved Taptic engine, and wireless charging.

[doublepost=1477550107][/doublepost]Glass.. hmm Perhaps glass is too 'permanent' don't break easily enough..I think they should make them out of ICE !!!... .. and the power chargers should be made out of bio-degradable paper-mache !

It will be interesting to see how the new phones feel in the hand if they are all edge-to-edge and what aspect ratio Apple choose to use, as although the screens could be bigger the physical size might be the same size or smaller. Personally I'd be very pleased to see the current 3 sizes brought under one refresh cycle too so the people who love the smaller (currently 4") design also get the latest tech available. My final wish for it is that we don't have to buy the 5.5" version just to get the best features, I am on a 6s and was a bit frustrated at just how much better my colleagues Videos looked with the extra stabilisation on the 6S+.

It is not about the exact numbers but about the spacing in between.

The article states this spacing:
5.5 inches, 5 inches, and 4.7 inches.

Not so much of a difference. In particular 5 and 4.7

I don't think there is enough difference between the 5 inch and 4.7 inch models.

5'' may replace the 4.7'' and maybe 5.8 or 6'' may be the new Plus.
I think it is pointless to release three sizes, not counting the SE
