No one wants yesterdays (2012 design) sloppy thirds. Bring us an all new four inch.
Ah, so you're a person that only cares about the look. God forbid, you'd be forced to carry a phone (SE) that looks the same as a phone released three and half years earlier (iPhone 5). People wouldn't be able to see that you have a brand-new phone.

I'm about design what's on the inside and the outside.

Ok, let's parse your original statement:
"The reason Apple did so poorly with iPhone sales is that they never introduced a brand new iPhone 6 in a 4-inch model back in 2014 and tried to pass off a four year old iPhone 5 for three generations."
So, the iPhone 5s, introduced in 2013, was a four-year old phone in 2014, 2015, and 2016? I know time can be relative, but how a phone introduced in 2013 suddenly was four-years old one year later is beyond me.
5S and SE are derivatives of 5.

Calling it: smoked glass so you can see "all the hard work our designers put into the inside of the phone". Maybe bring out Steve Wozniak to drive the point home about the beauty in electronic design.

OK fair, however the lack of a tactile button is a bad idea for functionality.

Does it look cooler to have no buttons? Yes, 100% but it's just bad for user experience.

Here's 2 quick examples:

  1. Imagine your laptop keys were all touchscreen, you'd have to always be looking at your hands when typing. This is backwards evolution in efficiency.
  2. Imagine all of your vehicle controls were touchscreen, you wanted to turn the defroster on, without the tactile buttons you'd have to take your eyes off the road. The more time your eyes are off the road, the more dangerous it is.

....

For a keyboard, I agree. For a remote control, I also generally agree.

For the rest, I respectfully disagree, based on my experience. Once I was used to having a non-physical Home button, it was hard for me to start clicking the Home button on the iPhone, or on the Galaxy S7 Edge. I much prefer the the non-physical buttons nowadays.

Think of it as having to press your track pad to select. Once you get used to just tapping, physically clicking suddenly becomes a chore (for me, at least).

What - only 3 different sizes? If you're going to further water down a formerly clear product portfolio, do it right and offer at least 3.5", 4", 4.3", 4,7", 5" and 5.5". Oh - and don't forget the 6" for bragging rights towards Android users.

Check out this almost bezel-less ceramic phone Xiaomi just unveiled:

Yep saw this yesterday. Absolutely stunning and the funny thing is the comments about it here on the macrumors write up was overall positive. Minus the fact it does not run iOS haha.

I will most definitely be skipping the iPhone 8, because Apple have a history of screwing up badly, when they release a redesigned phone. They don't do it every time, but about half the time a MAJOR mistake is made. The iPhone 4 had "attentagate" while the iPhone 6 had "bendgate" and Touch Disease. The "s" models have always been the best phones to get, when Apple has fixed the problems they created with the redesign. This is where the iPhone 7 is actually a good choice: it may not look like anything special, but it is effectively a 6s mark 2. Because of this, it's probably one of the most solid designs that Apple has ever brought out.

I heard the 2019 model isn't even going to have a screen. Just hologram projecting.

There will not be a 2019 iPhone.

Tim Cook is planning to revolutionize the way we use paper towels, so he is negotiating to acquire the Costco brand of paper towels and toilet paper for $110 Billion and rebrand Apple into "iToilet."

Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart will lead design for the new brand. Ive is cashing in and moving over to Walmart.

This rumor sounds bunk. Dual glass is a step backwards...why copy Samsung who is basically copying your own dual glass concept of the iPhone 4. Ceramics is the way to go. Look at the new Xiaomi Mix Mi, it has a polished mirrored finish from it's ceramic body. Do you like the Jet Black finish, but hate scratches? Ceramic practically won't scratch. Has anyone read this excellent Quora write up? It sounds like this Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology just wants to get their name out there.

Jony Ive voice: "wiping your bum is an intimate pro-cess. We have taken manufacturing to a new level with laser precise toilet paper. Every time you wipe, iToilet paper will send a notification to your phone to indicate the cleanliness of your butt-om".

Next's years iPhone will be the 10th anniv model and it will be iPhone 8, a lucky number for the HUGH Chinese market.
I'm willing to bet next years model will have the most features and cool stuffs.

Am I the only one who doesn't want edge to edge screen? I don't want to be holding the phone and inadvertently push buttons-which happens on the Galaxy Edge models.

You might feel exactly the opposite way when the 8 comes out. I bought my 5s 2 months before the 6 came out, knowing full well that the new phone would offer more, but not trusting that Apple would get the design right. I'm very glad now that I didn't wait, as the 6 was easily one of the worst designed iPhones of all time. First it was Bendgate, then it was Touch Disease.

Despite the negative views of the 7, it is a good solid design.

On the contrary, many have requested for the home button to removed or integrated into the screen. Which would allow for less hardware, further water resistance and more sleek appeal. I'm all for it. Time will tell.

For younger users it shouldn't be too much of an issue, for older users and users with accessibility needs it will be a problem.

On a personal opinion, I'd prefer a tactile button but that's what makes us unique and why interfaces have options for users to personalize

I could go for a 5". 4.7" screen is getting small but 5.5" is still too big for comfort for me so I stick w/ 4.7. But most importantly I hope the slightly bigger size is to accomodate dual camera and all the goodies of the 5.5" except maybe not as big of a battery.
