More predictable iDevice upgrades, why even bother with a "media event?"

Meanwhile, their entire computer lineup grows stale waiting for Broadwell... :(

Don't forget about the iPod touches! They upgrade with every new iPhone digit so every 2 years.

iPhone 4, iPhone 5, now iPhone 6

I am really excited to see what they come up with all the iPod lines to revive them. They are a dieing business.

I predict them making the iPod touch only a 4.7" config. So to make the iPhone have more leverage and who wants a 5.5" workout mp3 player?!

Also look at the iPod section for IOS upgrades, its so sad and alone :(

Dat iBooks icon... iOS 8 GM does not have it.

I want this...:

A MacBook Air in Gold :apple: - 12 Inch, with a magic bottom, so it can transform from Mac OS X to iOS 8

Buuuuttttt I don't think I'm gonna get it :D

Hmmm..

Apple should not make iCloud Drive work without Yosemite. There is going to be quite a lot upset people later today.

Late October seems appropriate for the release of Yosemite. It would be nice to see a beta of the Photos for OS X be announced, I can't stand using iPhoto anymore.

Mac Pro update seems likely...but I'd imagine Mac updates be a separate event? Not sure. But new iPad's seem likely.

headphones

I think that along with the new iPods will be new headphones. A bluetooth option for sure ("Beats Air"?), but also maybe a lightning option. I am curious how they will handle the possibility of Beats co-branding.

There wasn't an iPod touch refresh during the September 9 event, so here's hoping it'll come at this next one.

You guys who want mac minis.. What do you use it for? As your main desktop? Hook up to the tv?

iPad, schmipad ....
Are they gonna announce new iPods or is what's available now gonna be it for 2014?

I ask 'cause if they aren't gonna have new iPods, I'd rather order a Nano now,
rather than hang on waiting until October 21st to see if new ones are coming out or not,
only to be disappointed to have waited more than a month for nothing.

Because more eyes look at you, media attention, and it sells your devices.

Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. all have copied Apple with these meaningless media events all the time..... because it works. Pre 2010, it was pretty much only Apple that had these events except for something major.

Will be sticking with my Ipad Air but I can't wait for Yoesmite. Would also love to see that 27" UHD display.

I also hope they get there act together when it comes to streaming. Don't want to miss this event.

You can jump on the public beta. The version people are on now is super stable. Of course you should always be careful with betas, but really, I see no issues worth mentioning at this point.

I highly highly doubt they will update the iPod line at all. There is no reason to bring the 4.7 screen to the touch. If iPhone 6 doesn't get Android users to switch, offering a new iPod touch with a bigger screen won't either.

Yeah it's... Getting old. More proof that "tech" is out of ideas.

A world of limitless possibilities and all they've done for the past decade is produce various screen sizes to get me on the Internet. Wake me up when they do something worth having a media event for.

I shall be sticking with my iPad Air for the foreseeable future. TouchID on an iPad, whilst a logical update, seems totally useless to me and not worth the upgrade. I barely use the device as it is.

I'm sure they are going to introduce a version of apple pay for the iPad, most likely limited for online transactions.

Apple Said to Plan October 21 Media Event to Launch New iPads, OS X Yosemite

They're not breaking your bank - you're breaking your bank. They're breaking your will power.. which, let's face it.. happens to the best of us ;)

Well said my friend. That is true. Don't have the will power to hold out until they get sold out and then wait again until it ships. I'm far too weak :(
