Yea, some people just hate Apple. I have convinced 2-3 of them to just try the iPhone and all of them ended up loving it.
Yep had a cousin on mine who swore by Samsung, after a few years passed by he got fed up with all the glitches on his phone, recommend he get the iPhone 11, calls me a week later saying why didn’t you tell me how amazing iPhones are, he loves it, I was like what have I been trying to tell you for the last few years. 🤦‍♂️😂

Does Tim ask each person if they've switched?

It's not like a prerequisite to inform anyone if you've switched right?

My mom moved from her 6s+ to a 12 Ultra ProMax (or whatever it's called) and is loving it.

I moved from an SE to a 12 mini, and it's great.

My dad's still rocking his iPhone 7, though.

The 12 line is a nice, solid upgrade. Wish it had touchID, though - the faceid with a mask is gross.

Isn't that the usual lip service from Tim Cook every earnings? Can see people buying laptops, desktops or even tablets for work and study from home but who needs a new $1K+ phone on lockdown that doesn't add anything new? Still doesn't have Touch ID so you have to expose yourself to COVID-19 pulling down your mask to authenticate with Face ID.

Imagine the numbers if the notch was gone. ;)

Okay, maybe not a dealbreaker to many here and Apple users, but some and probably potential Android switchers where it matters.

The only people who care about the notch are those jonesing to give Apple a bash on tech forums and feeling a blip of power afterwards. A tiny insignificant number of people that don't even register on Apple's radar.

The rest of the world... "Notch, what notch?"

Then why is Apple making the notch smaller on the next model and probably even smaller or no notch on the one after if no one cares?

No, of course not. Technology and miniaturization move forward permitting that at a reasonable cost, and Apple moves forward.

I don't know about others, but I just type in a password where needed. No big deal, except on internet forums where at times hyperbole reigns supreme. I don't risk getting covid-19 to save a few seconds authenticating with face id.

This was the best quarter in corporate history.

The most switchers ever...very scary for competition. Apple isn’t losing its grip...it’s strengthening.
Apple has enough money at this point to give Google an offer for Android they can’t refuse. Buy it and shut it down. All of the manufactures that use the Android OS would be up a creek without a paddle. Apple could basically shut them all down. Imagine the kind of money Apple could make doing that? It would be unreal.

I didn’t hear anything specific about the iPhone 12 Mini sales numbers. I know rumors/reports have been saying that model had been underselling, but I didn’t hear Apple suggest that on the call — only that the Pro models were seeing particularly strong sales. Anyone hear anything about the 12 Mini?

I believe it has been underselling, but that might be a blessing in disguise. A company cannot charge as much for a small screen phone, but overall materials and manufacturing cost of a small screen phone isn’t that much less than a larger screen counterpart. Basically profit margin is better on larger screen phones. A poorer selling small phone might actually be a net gain if people are going for the phone with a higher profit margin.

I upgraded to a 2020 SE and I’m very happy. Only spent $200 on it brand new. I could have afforded any phone in the lineup, but this seemed to be the smartest decision for the money. I know most people look down on SE users in a place like MacRumors- and no, we’re not all your parents’ age or young kids (I’m 32) - but I believe this is the best bang for your buck besides the standard iPhone 12. I will stick with this for a few years until the next major redesign (probably once the notch goes).

True. Unless you're removing your mask in a crowd, the chances of covid exposure are minimum at best. You're 1,336,489,798,312,584.5487% right about hyperbole as well. Evidenced by the quote below. My man gets bonus for the hyperbole and fantasy mix. Sometimes forum life just makes us say crazy things.

Breathe, brother. It's just a generic quote from a CEO with no numbers for context. Numbers are coming soon. Then you can overreact. :D But I get your point. You're happy for Apple.

I'm seeing reports of 90.1 million iPhones shipped last quarter.

That's apparently the largest number of phones shipped by any phone manufacturer... ever...

I know, I know... shipped vs sold... but still.

Holy balls Batman!

The 12 is definitely a good phone and if I didn’t have one or lost mine I would get it.
But as a 11/XS/X user, the update isn’t very tempting in my opinion.

I upgraded from the XS Max to the 12 Pro Max and the Qualcomm modem has been like night and day as far as connectivity and the 5G has been awesome. I definitely made the right decision in upgrading.

1.) Driven by the cellular service providers, NOT by AAPL !

2.) Just think what might happen with the iPhone 12s family later this year, when 5G is closer to being ready for Prime Time, AND the iPhone's 5G circuitry is MUCH MORE power efficient !

I don't think so. Almost all the folks that I know on Android are firmly there no matter what. iPhones are too pricey to replace Android. They can only do it at the very top end.
Your argument is very dated. Some Android phones might be cheaper than iPhones, but with amount of promotions, trade-in values, iPhones aren’t nearly as expensive, when you can get them literally half off when consumers trade their phones in. There’s really no reason anymore to keep using this ‘iPhones are too expensive’, when there’s plenty of incentives to avoid full MSRP.
