Several people have remarked that they keep their iPads in a case, and that anyway the Apple logo is on the back so they wouldn't see it anyway. If apple were to repurpose the face unlock scanner they could spectrum shift it and project the apple logo onto the users forehead. The benefits are obvious, no more obscured logo and auto rotate as the iPad rotates. They could also colour shift to signal " do not disturb "

Steve Jobs rolling in his grave.

iPad was supposed to be a creative tool.....ended up as a glorified netflix/youtube/gaming tablet.
Oh puleeze. I'm not a particularly creative person but I still manage to find uses for my iPad. News and entertainment. That's pretty much it for me.

A little detail I noticed, that many others probably have as well, was that the back of the new Magic Keyboard already has the logo rotated to landscape mode. They do make changes, just very slowly.

Wow, the best innovative idea I’ve seen in years. I’ll bet the prices will rise at least by a couple of hundred for that 🤪

Apple tackling the important issues, I see.

This will come with a $300 convenience correction fee.

How about they replace the plastic "Apple" insert with an LCD screen so the logo can rotate with the device. ;)

Edit: Oops. Someone beat me to it.

They will probably waste a bunch of R&D money on trying to figure out some material/method that will always show you the logo upright no matter what angle you look at it from

Until TattoGate: Apple users get logo burned into forehead from spending excessive time in front of iPad.

Well, I would leave the a Apple logo as it is.

When used in landscape it is usually on a case/stand/MagicKeyboard. And when it’s on any of those accessories, the Apple logo isn’t visible.

However, when the Apple logo becomes visible is when you grab it with your hands. And when I grab it with my hands, at least half of the time (if not more) is in portrait. So, no, I would change it.

I am amazed at the number of people who are upset about this rumor.
That's a fair point but, for me, it's not just this one rumor. It's the effort put into areas other than the key one. Where are the priorities? What's the top one?

Why did the iPad logo finally rotate to landscape mode?

It got tired of everyone holding it wrong!

A tool for consuming the creativity of others is still a creative tool.

Steve Jobs created it to be a money making tool, too.

I've come to the realization that I'm old enough to remember when it was a big deal that Apple flipped the vertical orientation of the logo on the lid of their laptops. From Apple's very first laptops through the PowerBook G3 FireWire/Pismo (the first model with a light-up Apple logo) and original iBook models the logo was always oriented to be right-side up if you had it facing you with the lid closed, which meant it was upside down when the lid was open. It was flipped with the PowerBook G4 Titanium and iBook G4 going forward.

I'm sure that could happen.

As we all know by now, Tim Cook is down for changing everything about iPad.

..as long as it doesn't actually change anything.
