What the.... I went to bed last night being certain that iOS 8.0.2 would be waiting when I woke up! I'm on a holiday for 2 weeks and I don't have a computer with me. How am I going to use my phone? I need Google Maps here, I need to make phone calls for work, this is just idiotic. I can't wait a couple of days before I (hopefully) can use my phone again.

Life's tough at the top brah. sorry to hear you won't be able to make work calls while you're on holidays. But then again, sounds like a good situation to be in.

You sure you're really that upset? 0.2 will hopefully fix my first world issues? Srs man, you don't know how good you have it.

Stop being so immature. For many of us, our phones are a vital business tool. I can tolerate small bugs and certain apps having issues, but to lose cellular connectivity is totally unacceptable.

So that means we'll have to wait even longer for other essential fixes to iOS 8, such as the bug where the screen becomes unresponsive in landscape mode for many users? I'd have thought that kind of stuff would have taken priority over getting HealthKit apps up and running.

"It just works"....LOL.

I still love my imac, but so glad I switched my phone away.

I hope 8.0.2 fixes the weird UI glitches too, I find when using the YouTube app on my iPhone 6, the top search bar keeps overlapping the status bar!

Anyone else having this problem? even a restart won't help.

This is exactly what I was thinking

You're missing the fact that they would prefer to move forwards and let those who updated in the first 30 mins of the release use the workaround.

I'd like to see a formal apology from Apple.

So step 3 of the recovery support document states that "iCloud backups won't restore to earlier versions, including iOS 8.0." I never backup my iOS devices to iCloud, and this fiasco is another reason why.

Apple's QA of iOS and OS X is an ongoing joke.

This is quite a blunder. And to say people here mock some Android updates for being withheld until the carrier/network sees fit, it would have been a blessing for you all in this case.

Shape up Apple. You're turning into what Microsoft was in the 90s/early 2000s.

Fire Tim Cook

Apple should fire Tim Cook, he has so far only managed to fragment the universe that Steve Jobs struggle hard to build. iOS8 is not going to be any different than iOS7, he made **** then he's gonna make **** now, and seriously Swift? Objective-C is way better, I'd like Apple to hire a new CEO that would stand for the standards Apple was known for!

I have iPhone 5 and iPad 2, and after upgrading to iOS 8 (I never installed 8.0.1) I am getting "No Service" on both devices.

Brilliant idea to launch a new iOS version which breaks cellular network features. I guess it's like when Apple started to remove FireWire. Nobody uses it.

I'm stunned with how short the memory of most of the people is…There is always some problems with the newest gear, and same goes with updates - you shouldn't update until it's been confirmed safe. Instead, all this whining and complaining happens every single update and every single version of the phone, computer, etc. Amazing.

But if everyone followed the common sense of not updating for a couple weeks, then who would discover the bugs in 8.0.1? Yes, bugs are expected in the latest release of everything. Software won't always be bug free. However, there is the expectation that QA is up to the standard such that newly released software won't break core functionality, such as being able to call someone on a phone.

I did the restore last night around 6pm and it worked but the servers are so slammed that it's been syncing for 12 hours and is just spinning with no progress. Not sure what to do at this point..

Another tough break for early adopters and another big negative against auto-download - it's too tempting for users to just tap and install before checking what might go wrong.

It's easy to say just restore it with iTunes but not everyone has access to a computer and not all iPhone owners know how to regardless of the implied simplicity. It's a bit rich marketing the phone as working like magic and then falling at the first hurdle.

Sad to say it seems more and more Apple's output is leaving the end-user to beta test.

I can't see 8.0.2 being ready in a few days - they'll have to stringently test it or they'll take more of a beating.

Is it just me that thinks Sir Johnny Ive should be made the next CEO? He's got the mind of a designer and knows apple inside and out. Come on John, kill Tim and take his job already.

Wow. Redirecting your users to downgrade and having to install iTunes. I've done it already but this is just one big clusterf#ck. I HOPE heads rolled for this one. There's just no excuse.

Absolutely, its not looking good for them this morning, buggy iOS releases attract far more of the international medias interest, and when they are reporting on this under the same breath they mention the bendgate scandal. Apple has handed a bad story to the press on a silver platter....
This isn't the first time they released buggy software though, its one area they seriously need to investigate and fix. I see their share price took a knock cause of this.

We also have consumer law in the UK which states that a product has to be fit for purpose. If you are unhappy to wait or need a new phone you could always go down this route and get a refund. Its not ideal but an easy solution if you wish to move on and not wait.

so probably shouldn't expect iOS 8.0.2 till next week at the earliest?

Next Monday or Tuesday I'd of thought. Not sure why people were expecting it to be released already. I can assure you, after what's happened, they will take longer testing it this time around.
