Probably all of the above. I would guess that the fact that we can actually update full versions with low free storage is great too. The fact that the OS takes up less space itself and promises longer battery life is a selling point as well. Over the air updates are definitely a boon for OS adoption. People just don't plug in anymore.
I do. I don't trust OTA updates ever since the incident with a beta of iOS 8 on my iPad... gave it the blue screen and refused to go into DFU.

Laggy? ***** are you talking about? I've used iOS 9 beta on my iPhone 6 since beta 1 up too release there's no lag at all. Can you show proof of this? Instead of sprouting nonsense from your keyboard.
My 5c (the 5c being known to have crappy specs, as you guys have said) has been running without lag through the seeds of iOS 9. I think it's the first world problems kicking in, or lack of patience.

So when I put iOS 9 on my iPhone 6, I can upgrade it to the new notes later? When does it give you the choice? Or is it in settings? I really don't want to mess it up and will gladly stay with the old notes app. On my new Mini 4, I don't see an option to switch back to the old notes app. Thx...

I updated my phone and iPad to iOS9 a few days ago and when you first open notes it gives you the choice. I declined to use the new notes and have stuck with the old notes until EL CAP is released as I use the notes app extensively and need them to all sync up across my 2 devices and 2 computers. Once you've chosen to stay withe the old version, you can find an "upgrade" button on the folders screen of notes and you'll be able to upgrade your notes at any time (as I mentioned I haven't done that yet).

Hope this helps.

I upgraded last night. When I opened notes it gave me the choice for 3 seconds, then continued to the new notes. I wasn't fast enough. Oh, well, El Capitan is only a few days away. I didn't loose anything. Except for the ability to sync for a few days.

Yeah, no. I'm staying with iOS 8 on my iPhone.
iOS 8 was described as the worst iOS ever, one year ago, on this same forum.
The same the year before for iOS 7 ...
Every year is the same on this forum, but in the real world people are happy.
I see no reason to stay on iOS 8.
Given how badly iOS 8 performs on older devices , people are upgrading and praying their devices run smoother . iOS 9 was about performance ....
I can't notice any performance difference, but iOS 9 has some interesting innovations

My iPad 3 is smoother, and my iPhone 5s has better battery.

Same here with Siri not understanding a thing.
Must be our German accents?
Mine is not very pronounced, but the things she answers or does when I say: Play Fear of the dark" are downright funny AND different each time.
Gave up on Siri long tim ago. Trying this toy on and off.

Hmm I tried and succeeded ...

That was weird I opened my settings app and it immediately jumped to software update with an iOS 9 update!
They better not AutoUpdate me to iOS 9 else they owe me a new computer.
I'm not upgrading my iPhone 6 until Apple changes their desktop requirements for iOS 9.

I went under storage usage and iOS 9 update was using 1.1 GB of my 64gb. Promptly deleted!

It's definately not our accent. I had a buddy try (US american native english speaker) and german Siri did not understand him any better. I probably try and switch Siri on my phone to english just for fun.

Was there initially and then after a few hours to a day, it then dropped off and fixed itself? I've heard that has happened.
That's probably Siri indexing....
Of course, as always, it's a halfway meaningless stat on older devices which don't get all the cool features.

I was excited until I found out that all my original iPad minis didn't get that feature in their iOS9 update. Neither did they get Siri enhancements, transit directions or multi-windows, apparently, among who knows what else.

But... Apple will brag that it's the "faster adopted update ever" anyway. Well, yeah, we were all figuring anythnig would be better than iOS 8. Unfortunately, it didn't even fix the Safari reload problem.
Maybe because your original Mini is an OLD DEVICE by any means ?

As I said , on this forums you'll always find someone complaining about lagging....

As experience has shown, iPhones are only optimized with the OS version it came with.
iPhone 4S - optimized for iOS 5
iPhone 5 - optimized for iOS 6
iPhone 5S - optimized for iOS 7

I always stick to the iOS version the iPhone came with. Same is also true with iPad.

Plus it helps with resale value to stick with the OS version the iOS device came with because down the line they are harder to find and people that want that will pay extra for it.
My friend recently sold his 64GB iPhone 5 for $850 because it was factory unlocked, in good condition and running the latest version of iOS 6 (6.1.4), which is impossible to find now.
I think the iPhone 5S is the best iPhone so far for many aspects.
It was fine with iOS 7, with iOS 8 and now is fine with iOS 9.
My iPad 3 is smoother, and my iPhone 5s has better battery.
ipad 3 smoother ? I'm surprised ....

I had been having a problem on my 5S with not receiving all app notifications. Even upgrading to 9.0 didn't fix them. They would work one day and then nothing for weeks. I had to do fresh install, setting up as a new iPhone to fix the problem.

Other than the large text problem I have in settings, I have no problems. I set the text to be larger due to it being so small in the email app.

I only use the iPad 3 to surf the net, and maybe it's psychological, though it feels smoother.

I'm really impressed with my 5S, it's very smooth , and seeing much improved battery life, the device was replaced by apple two weeks ago , though it's a much better experience than my 6 plus. I agree the 5S is one of the best iPhones made.

Important to note that they aren't calling it the fastest adoption rate, but most downloads. The number of iOS devices in the wild has increased (plus none were left behind this time) so presumably that means that the adoption rate is possibly not as fast, but the total number of users on the new iOS is higher at the same stage.
And considering the fact that they force the download onto the devices when it is connected to a power source and wi-fi, I call that BS...

Why? What am I missing? Maybe no groundbreaking new features, but its a nice and stable update with many little improvements. My daughters 5c battery life has improved by a lot (is now finally lasting all day again) and none of us (family of 4) has any issues with iOS 9.

I am staying on iOS 8.4 on my 6 because my phone is jailbroken partly to get rid of ALL the animations that slow iOS down. I installed iOS 9 on my iPad mini 2 and the difference in speed is night and day. I just do not understand why there must be animations. Please Apple allow us to turn them off completely. This is my biggest wish for future iOSs.

I promptly deleted the update when I found it under usage.
I bet they don't record that or if they do they're hiding that stat.

A combination of Adblocker 2 and Untrusted Hosts Blocker. I found that sometimes Adblocker wouldn't block ads at the beginning of videos so I installed Untrusted Hosts Blocker to catch those and it does. I've found both are needed.

Unfortunately I think the iPad 3 is the worst iPad ever, hardware wise. A gorgeous display, for the time, but limited hardware....

On the contrary the iPhone 5S was too good to be true, hardware wise.

Agree on both accounts.
