I had lots of apps closing on unexpectedly on my iPhone 6 or not opening at all. But nothing critical. Performance is good and battery life is good. Also update happened a bit smoother. Only had to update the iPad Mini using iTunes. Everything else was OTA and fast.

I never update to a new OS until at least version .02 or .03. There are always some sort of bugs with a brand new iOS. People at work who are always quick to upgrade keep saying they should have listened to me...

I USED to do the same, but my experiences with iOS vs. OS X were all good.

With MR all you have to do is wait a day and you'll know right away if something is not right.

iOS 9 has been solid for me thus far. I'm seeing better battery life on my iPhone 6 compared to 8.4.1 even without toggling low power mode on. Now, if the FCC will just approve AT&T for Wi-Fi calling, I'll be set.

Can you recommend an adblocker?

I have two: Peace and Crystal. However, Crystal offers NO customization. It's all or nothing deal with no exceptions. If some site stops working because of it you have to go to the settings and disable Crystal. too annoying. Peace is great and does offer some customization including the ability to turn it off on a site directly from safari. However, Marco Arment, its developer, had some ethical issues with his own app and pulled it from the App store.

There are plenty of other options for adblockers though but I have no first hand experience with any of them.

Updated two iPhone 6 Plus and two iPads, air and air 2 all to iOS 9. Did over the cloud first hour. All working fine. Am really loving content (ad) blockers. About time we users can retaliate for the tracking and overly obnostious pop up, page over, ads. Google and other trackers brought it apron themselves. The load speed is phenomenal now.

For the sites and companies that say I owe them for viewing their content. I will consider your argument after I receive my check for excessive use of my bandwidth cost of data I had to buy to download your extra trackers. Then after three years of reduced and non intrusive ads, I will consider turning off ad blockers on a site by site basis.
exactly. I have ZERO qualms about using adblockers for this very reason. I turn them off on sites that behave. besides, I love how these people all of a sudden found religion and decided to talk about ethics and morals. just how ethical is it to run huge amounts of arbitrary code without my permission that bogs down my browser, exposes me to security risks, tracks me all over the web and eats up my bandwidth?! It's like, here, have a free soda!... But now that you've accepted it I am entitled to go into your house, rifle through all your stuff and install a hidden camera in your bedroom. all without telling you. what, you have a problem with that? how dare you! I gave you a freaking free soda. I have to recoup my losses to make my living.
The hypocrisy here is staggering.

I have to wait till El Capitan is released on the 30th before I can update. I don't want to loose my notes syncing between my iOS devices and Mac's.

I gives you the option to stay with the older version of notes for the time being. It seems to be working fine...

Not updating. So many complaints of lagging for 6 & 6+ has put me off. Surprised older devices haven't complained about it also to be honest.
The 6 Plus lagged out of the box on iOS 8. iOS 9 has actually decreased that lag and noticeably improved the performance. This is how the 6 Plus should have been in the first place.

Laggy? ***** are you talking about? I've used iOS 9 beta on my iPhone 6 since beta 1 up too release there's no lag at all. Can you show proof of this? Instead of sprouting nonsense from your keyboard.
We are not allowed to have different experiences from yours?
How can and why should anyone have to show you proof of this? You want this member to go back and reinstall iOS8 make a video of how everything worked as before, THEN update to iOS9 and make ANOTHER video showing you the glitches they have run into? Perhaps on a new reinstall the glitches go away, perhaps they get worse... It's not worth the time to show a stranger on the internet. If APPLE wants to see it, then I would do all of the steps or better yet, just send my iPhone in to them.

People really need to relax about others having issues with a new OS.

As experience has shown, iPhones are only optimized with the OS version it came with.
iPhone 4S - optimized for iOS 5
iPhone 5 - optimized for iOS 6
iPhone 5S - optimized for iOS 7

I always stick to the iOS version the iPhone came with. Same is also true with iPad.

Plus it helps with resale value to stick with the OS version the iOS device came with because down the line they are harder to find and people that want that will pay extra for it.
My friend recently sold his 64GB iPhone 5 for $850 because it was factory unlocked, in good condition and running the latest version of iOS 6 (6.1.4), which is impossible to find now.

I had stopped home over the weekend and my father, of all people, had already updated to iOS 9 on his iPhone 5. I was shocked. Therefore, I'm not entirely surprised to read this.

This is great news if it's true. Now if Apple & Co. can put 1 and 1 together to make 2, hopefully they will see that people want bug fixes and performance updates as much or more than feature updates.

Which phone? Certainly not iPhone 6. My mom's running it on an iPhone 5 with no issues.

My wife's iPhone 5 (that I can't get her to upgrade!) has a lot more lag in the animations. Also seems to struggle more with web page loads. Works fine and she isn't complaining about it, but it would drive me bonkers it is so bad compared to the 6.

I wonder how many of them are stuck on the slide-to-upgrade screen

I lost an ipad to the ios9 upgrade. It got the "white screen of death" during the upgrade (i.e. slide-to-upgrade). I spent hours on the phone with Apple support and the best we could do is to rebuild it as new. Granted, i take partial blame for not having a backup before I started. However, it doesn't excuse Apple from putting out updates that don't follow hippocratic oath.

I wonder if these ever increasing adoption rates are a sign of better, newer features, or an indication that users are getting tired of their current versions of iOS and want an upgrade sooner?

Unfortunately this time it is likely a sign people are/were hoping that this upgrade would resolve a lot of the issues iOS 8 still has along with maybe a few new features. They will spin it as a good thing however I think the aforementioned is unfortunately driving many of the upgrades.

You will quickly change your stance when all the apps require iOS 9 to function.
Sounds like he's got a few years till then.

I'm still playing games just fine on my IpT5 running ios7.0.4. I'll have to revisit when this issue comes up in a year or so, but until then, happily gaming away on an older version of ios!

Installed iOS9 on my 4S and it works much more smoothly now. So far, so good. indeed, my phone seems to be more stable and 'snappier'. I wonder of some of the apparent lag issues that people are raising come form the flood of apps upgrading (more than 20 in a day in my case, including the huge MS Office apps).

iOS 9 has been GREAT... lots of fine tuning, including, when loading a safari link from mail you can easily go back to mail via top left hand corner arrow. Something so simple helps a lot.
