After I had my issue and saw a few others appear online I contacted apple support and had them runs diagnostic remotely and they said all was fine.

Now the question becomes whether you buy it or not?
How many times you have the issue? I mean there is a record of these things in your history with calling apple. They be dumb to lie. Especially cause just like AirPods Pro’s they fixed only when people called in and complained. Then they issued a massive program after they saw it was wide spread

Had the issue 2-3 times tops as I tried to rereigster banking apps. First time I wasn’t sure what was happening so left it open a bit. Second/third time I insta closed.

Fingers crossed either way tbh.

AF seems fine etc.

Only issue is taking photos of ids/cards for various apps but they seems to be looking at a specific focal length and not adjusting so assume an app issue rather than HW

Yes the minimal focus distance of the main lens is less then the iphone 13 and earlier.
It should switch to the ultralens which some apps are not doing.
So yes I think it's an app issue.

I had this issue happen to me. It was shaking for about 5 secs. 🙃 trying to get a replacement but everywhere is out of stock!

I'm glad to hear Apple at least acknowledged this is as undesirable. I get my 14 Pro Max in a few days and I will absolutely NOT open the camera/camera apps until I take the temperature of the community to see if its fixed after the update. Maybe its just a coincidence, but maybe this update will help my 12 Pro Max which doesn't have the camera jiggle, but the camera in ALL the apps I use has been pretty much unusable for about 3 weeks. 🤞

Yes, yes—of course, we'll let everyone know that their devices need to be repaired because we love having to perform thousands of free repairs/device swaps and inflate our refurbished inventory.

While a repair may not be necessary, this is like buying a "new" car that has 50,000 miles on the engine already. If this issue has happened to you, your camera's IBIS system has been stressed far beyond what it would have been, and you should go in and try to get a replacement as soon as possible.
Nonsense

Geezus no its not.

And you don't know that at all.

I can bet most people who don’t frequent this forum think it’s an app bug and went about their day.

Also it’s strange it happened only once or twice on some and never again

A strange issue causing the rear camera to vibrate on some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models does not necessitate a repair, according to Apple.

When asked if customers who already experienced the issue on their new iPhone should visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, Apple said users simply need to update their iPhone once a software update with a fix is released next week, suggesting that the issue does not cause permanent hardware damage to the device.

"We're aware of the issue and a fix will be released next week," an Apple spokesperson informed MacRumors earlier today. Apple did not provide any further details, but it's likely that the fix will be included in an iOS 16.0.2 software update.

Following the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, some users have noticed that the rear camera's main/bottom lens vibrates uncontrollably when the camera is opened in apps such as Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram, resulting in the lens making a rattling sound and shaky video appearing within the viewfinder on the device.

YouTuber Luke Miani claimed that the issue resulted in the main lens on an iPhone 14 Pro Max that he was testing being unable to focus properly in subsequent usage, even in the Camera app. Miani said that he took the iPhone to an Apple Store and was able to exchange the device for a new one, but it's unclear if there was any permanent damage.

Apple has not revealed the underlying cause of the issue. The main lens on both iPhone 14 Pro models features new "second-generation" sensor-shift optical image stabilization, and it is possible that the stabilizer is acting up for reasons unclear, but this is only speculation. In any case, the problem should be fixed in a matter of days.

It's unclear if next week's update will address a few other camera and AirDrop bugs that have been uncovered on iPhone 14 models since they launched on Friday.

This is my opinion is something to do with app development of snapchat and tick-tock only been testing on iPhone 13 models combined with macro automation switching

Nah, that would be if the problem were getting new iPhones with, say, only 90% battery life and 500 cycles in the battery already!

This is much different. It's more akin to new cars that have a CPU-control module that needs updating.

If the camera issue truly is software and not hardware-related, then it's not even the equivalent of the occasional rattles on new cars where the dealer has to tighten some screws down. 😎

Didn’t hear about this till this morning. Tried it on both IG and Snapchat. Snapchat seemed just fine. IG I heard two audible clicks from the camera in the beginning, but no vibrations or grinding noises. Everything seemed ok and nothing out of the norm. Checked my apps’ update today and seems like IG and Snapchat had pushed out an update sometime yesterday, unsure if it had some involvement to address this issue though.

Meanwhile the crazies were out with pitchforks talking about how this was going to cost Apple BILLIONS and end Tim Cook's career. Yawn, as usual. Nice touch with the dime-a-dozen youtube video with the host making an exaggerated face, and some buzzword and an arrow on the title card. Way to contribute, MR.
they don't make money if they don't say this world is ending today.

How did you come to this conclusion ?

Is this really a software issue? I watched Luke Miani’s video and he mentioned the camera was only shaking on his friend’s phone and not his own. You’d expect a software issue to happen regardless of hardware.

Also don’t take Apple’s word for it, if your device has this problem, return it as soon as possible for a refund/exchange within the 14 day window. Doesn’t take an engineer to figure out that insane amount of the camera sensor shaking will have put unnecessary wear on the hardware and shorten it’s component lifespan.

Not necessarily.
Because not every camera assembly is exactly same.
there is normal variation between parts.
because it is impossible to make 2 parts exactly same.
So it is possible for software to affect only some phones.

What I noticed after the 3rd app thing happened.
Action Cam on 0,5 lens all works.
BUT
Action Cam on the main lens the stabilizing is bad. Seems like the OIS has to much play.
Is going all over the place.
Maybe to much play is caused by the issue

Does it prove that? Because my iPhone 14 Pro is totally fine, as are many (probably most) others. Meaning it doesn’t affect every phone and would be relatively easy to miss in any QA review.

Just another example of cynics being fooled by the massive numbers in which Apple ships these devices and the disproportionate amount of negative comments on the internet.
Every one is a manufacturing expert now, so they watch few youtube videos and think they can design and manufacture iPhone.

Not sure what you mean? Isn’t action mode only used by main camera.

No.
When you select action mode by default it will choose the 0.5 lens.
You can switch it to the main.
With the 0.5 lens all is superb.
With the main lens it's not good.

And it was the main lens which went hilarious with the procam app so I am worried
