what's even worse than this is the blue halo the ipads have on fast motion, esp with low brightness. (try watching a black and white action scene)

"jelly scrolling" haha!! I love the term. Seems like a petty problem (if at all) to me personally, but hey some people may disagree

Yep. Pretty much. IMO apple brings it on themselves. There’s no reason the mini has to be such a lousy product. This is what happens when you cut costs and cheap out. It’s not the best iPad mini they can make but the cheapest. Oled or promotion would easily solve but apple uses low quality cheap screens for mini.
OLED would not solve this issue. OLED displays update in the same manner as LCDs.

Holding it wrong and gate comments are getting annoying.

People who can't come up with anything funny like to quote old jokes that weren't funny in the first place to feel part of a club and get a few likes from like minded bores - to the point where they do it even though it's already been done about 18 times in the thread already.

Can someone please compare the jelly between the Mini 5 and 6 to clear things up how different the jelly is between the two mini models.

I'm really hoping Apple does a silent update with a orientation change in the near future. It's just completely unuseable to me with the jelly thing going on. I'm happy for those that don't see it!

Mini 5; no jelly in portrait, a little jelly in landscape

Mini 6; a lot of jelly in portrait, no jelly in landscape
Looks like the refresh of the LCD panel is done top to bottom in landscape mode for the Mini 6 then.

I guess it makes sense. I use my iPad Air mostly in landscape mode when I can, unless apps renders only in portrait mode. I believe most iPad users would be doing the same, as I find the iPad screen too cramped when in portrait mode when reading contents.

It's especially true for me when I was using my Mini 2, until the screen went kaput.

Apple probably have data indicating iPad users' viewing preferences and decided to change the screen refresh design.

Its even more annoying because its not even an accurate quote. Jobs never said “You’re holding it wrong.” Its a statement people make because they think that’s what he said, but he never did.

Can anyone actually owning a Mini 6 confirm that when holding it upside down in portrait mode with the power button on the downside, the jelly scrolling effect is basically gone and opposed to the "regular" orientation with the power button up is not nearly as prominent. I can seriously say this for my Mini 6 for sure! Really strange!

i guess i have to sent it in for repair … 😄

I've started the return. Guys, how it happens? I've never had to send back any apple device... How much time does it take to be collected my unit? Will I get a tracking number? etc. Thx.

Personally, I wish there was a way I could scroll in portrait and *not* see this issue, but if I scroll slow, fast, etc , it’s always there for me.
Try to use it upside down in portrait mode (power button on the downside) and the jelly effect is nearly gone...!!
