It doesn't mean that there weren't fixes for the 2016 models... They don't list every single piece of code they've updated.

It clearly says that this update applies to 2018 TB MBPs. When Apple (and MacRumors for that matter) don't mention other models, it means they don't apply to other models.

"Do these brakes that say 2018 Ford Fusion also work for my 1968 Mercedes?"

While I was reading this thread, responding to an iMessage in the quick reply feature, that reply hung and the computer shut off. I was finally able to get it to reboot and see the below log.

This is on a 2018 13 in MacBook Pro and is the second Bridge OS crash I've experienced in the last 8 hours. I posted details on that one in another thread, but seemed to be related to the sleep/wake. Both have occurred after installing yesterday's supplemental update. I don't recall a crash before that supplemental.

Today is 15 days since purchase, so I'm one day past my return window.

SMH. Boggles the mind with all that cash pouring in and this is the user experience for Mac users.

How’s about updating your software so it doesn’t pi$$ing stutter? I recently copped one of these and even Safari stutters when scrolling simple sites, I was shocked given the hardware and high price. Straight up embarrassing from Apple and goes to show it’s the software that really matters. Don’t care about pointless benchmarks. Will be returning mine as it doesn’t feel it’s worth £2,699 at all.

Edit: Running the latest Mojave beta which is supposed to be smoother but it isn’t? I guess you people had a different definition of ‘smooth’ to me. I can’t straight from a late 2013 MacBook Pro running Mavericks and it’s shocking the difference in smoothness (and design too which is hideous looking in comparison to Mavericks in my opinion).

Haha, Everyday I'm amazed that Safari manages to get my '15 MBP fans blazing like I'm rendering something in Fusion360.

How is it possible that my older MBP on Mavericks manages to run it fine and smooth while their supposed latest and greatest which costs 1k more with 5+ more years of hardware improvements struggles to? It’s straight up embarrassing. They really need to fire their software engineers and have another major shake up or something. Don’t care about the hardware when their software, the heart and soul, is no longer roaring like it used to.

Unbelievable with this patch i got the crack hiss problem it has not been resolved im pretty sure it is hardware related and for £3300 i cant even play audio without problems

So it's a hardware problem when you said you didn't have that crackling sound before but after updating you do, guess what, that's not hardware.
I know you're not native English so you might have problems explaining it, no worries though.

That’s quite worrying. It didn’t fix anything for me. Still get mad DAW crashes with loads of core audio problems.

Well, since my 2018 MBP hasn't had any of these issues then there must be no issues! /s

It's always fascinating to me how when a small subset of uses experience issues and crashes, then those issues and crashes must equate a major failure across the board. But! when other users report no issues... Well they don't count

Problems like these will make me seriously hesitate to buy the so-called MacBook Air replacement if it also has that T2 chip. That, and the butterfly keyboard.

At this point I guess I should be looking for an 8GB/128GB 11" Macbook Air instead...

Does it address the issue whereby these keyboards are worse in every way to the non-butterfly keyboards. But, but, butterfly = thinner. Your point, Jony?

How about if you’re running yesterday’s Mojave PB8 and can’t get back to HS to do the supplemental update?

FWIW -

Yesterday - Bridge OS 3.0 KP crash on PB6 waking from sleep with a Caldigit TS3 Plus attached driving two 27” Dells.

Today - same Bridge OS 3.0 KP crash again but on PB8 with no Caldigit Dock or external devices attached.

Submitted the new crash file to Apple this morning.

Painful.

Right - that explains why Samsung recalled the Note 7 when most owners never experienced the exploding battery problem. Samsung just paid too much attention to a small subset of users who experienced the problem. To be sure, kernel panics aren't as potentially life-threatening as exploding batteries, but beyond a certain level of statistical significance, the chances for product failure aren't acceptable - especially for expensive products.

Dude lol.. not to burst your bubble, but look around you.. it's Apple, they've been bloating OSes forcing people to upgrade since like forever, not only them by the way, almost the entire tech industry sadly. Get a, say, Iphone 6 or 5s on iOS11 and run it side by side with a, say, Galaxy S4, or Nexus 5 or whatever older Android device, observe app loading times, animations lag, letters stuttering on simple messages typing, etc.

The difference in performance is abysmal. Older iphones on iOS 10 outperform iOS 11 ("supported" according apple). The apple consumer will call this "support". Don't get me wrong, Android is far from perfect with it's "support (older device not so much)", but bloating the OS as to make it unusable is not one of them. Some old Android devices will even outperform Apple's still selling line (6, 6s, 7) and then you have the people posting iphone X benchmarks here as if in a couple of upgrades they ain't gonna be bloated as well.

They do it with their star product, imagine the Mac line, these latest ones scream cash grab all over.

I wasn't aware of this panic issue until yesterday, AFTER installing the update. It had never happened before, oddly enough. But later last night I was in a conference using Discus, and halfway thru the whole system froze. Absolutely nothing worked. Then the computer restarted.

Its only a couple of weeks old. It was a corporate purchase, so tech support would have to get involved if it was to be returned, I imagine.

Anyway, I hope it was a once off, but I'm a bit alarmed that a problem I've never had with should happen only after an update which was supposed to fix the problem I didn't know I had!

Gone are the days when all you had to worry about with the MacBook Pros was whether you got a Samsung or LG display.

...

Or too much space between the latch and the top case
Or a SLIGHTLY uneven top case alignment
Or a slight very quiet squeaky sound when it gets tilted just so
Or getting the right SuperDrive brand to flash it to region free
Or ...

People have been playing that game a long time!

After the update Mine still has a "Pop" when you stop YouTube videos or something playing on VLC Player.

This fix has not i repeat has not fixed the pop cracking issue apple what you doing???? £3300 machine
