I don’t care about the 3W difference, but I agree that MagSafe just isn’t appealing.this whole mag safe thing is getting less appealing by the day

In-app purchase.3W upgrade purchased separately
Any company that purports to care about the environment shouldn't support wireless charging on their devices - it's up to 50% less energy efficient than wired charging.
my interest level for it started at zerothis whole mag safe thing is getting less appealing by the day
Just stop with this trite nonsense. You can't demonstrate materially how that is bad for "the environment", just this vague concept that anything other than peak efficiency is somehow translated to "bad". Just stop. You have no idea what you're talking about, and neither does anyone else that belabors this empty talking point.Any company that purports to care about the environment shouldn't support wireless charging on their devices - it's up to 50% less energy efficient than wired charging.
wrong, wireless charing is ~75-80% efficient compared to wiredAny company that purports to care about the environment shouldn't support wireless charging on their devices - it's up to 50% less energy efficient than wired charging.
Which is why I'll be sticking with Lightning. What does it take, like a second more to plug in a Lighting cable versus attaching MagSafe? Plus it's cheaper and more widespread. Not worth the hassle.
Lucky for you, but for those of us with wired CarPlay (like my Audi A4), wireless charging is worthless in the car (unless you have wireless CarPlay like some newer cars). In spite of the almost daily stories about minor downsides to MagSafe, I'm loving mine. Stuck in place with double sided tape, it makes the perfect charging/storage solution in my car. I just tuck the phone under the arm rest, and rely on wireless CarPlay for the trip knowing my battery will be in a good state on arrival.View attachment 978096
Same. I charge overnight and if I need a quick charge I use an iPad charger and Lightning cable.I’ll stick to my Anker wireless charging pad. Sure it’s slow to charge my 12 Pro, but it charges it overnight, so no big deal.
It is prior to pre-sale, does that count? People can't be angry about it if they havent even had the chance to order it yet.Interesting how they didn't say anything about this prior.
Using both hands for a total of 2 seconds is just way too much effort. Can you plug in your phone with one hand? No? I can by laying it on the wireless charger, and I do this regularly. There is literally no hassle, it's a nice feature that comes at a cost for a different charger. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
So why not let it charge to full in less time?smaller battery needs less power, that makes sense.
and finally Apple spells out what a USBC PD brick needs to deliver in order to achieve 12 or 15W charging power
To be fair, this is probably the only useful purpose for the magsafe. I can imagine in time there will be a number of third parties car attachments putting this to good use.In spite of the almost daily stories about minor downsides to MagSafe, I'm loving mine. So you're saying millions of phones that require upwards of 50% more energy to charge is not materially bad for the environment?Just stop with this trite nonsense. Do you only have one hand? And unless your MagSafe charger is stationary, facing up, you're still going to have to pick it up or turn it over and attach it -- requiring two hands. And I said I wasn't buying it in my post, because it's isn't worth it to me. If you want to buy it, by all means do it. I'm not gonna stop you.Can you plug in your phone with one hand? No?
