Thermal concerns and longevity... if you put more power in, battery life is impacted negativelySo why not let it charge to full in less time?
Textbook example of gatekeeping. It is pretty shocking to me the number of people who feel the need to tell everyone that they don't care about MagSafe in the comment section of MagSafe articles.
Can you plug in your phone with one hand? No? I can by laying it on the wireless charger, and I do this regularly. There is literally no hassle, it's a nice feature that comes at a cost for a different charger. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Yeah, exactly. Especially since the most useful thing about this gadget is just to have it on a nightstand and charge overnight. At least that's how I plan to use it.I couldn't care less about the magsafe charger, but what practical difference will 3 fewer watts make anyway?
The environment matters when it helps margins and makes them look good.Just stop with this trite nonsense. You can't demonstrate materially how that is bad for "the environment", just this vague concept that anything other than peak efficiency is somehow translated to "bad". Just stop. You have no idea what you're talking about, and neither does anyone else that belabors this empty talking point.

Do you only have one hand? And unless your MagSafe charger is stationary, facing up, you're still going to have to pick it up or turn it over and attach it -- requiring two hands. And I said I wasn't buying it in my post, because it's isn't worth it to me. If you want to buy it, by all means do it. I'm not gonna stop you.
Oh what a great idea! Imma gonna have to try that!In spite of the almost daily stories about minor downsides to MagSafe, I'm loving mine. Stuck in place with double sided tape, it makes the perfect charging/storage solution in my car. I just tuck the phone under the arm rest, and rely on wireless CarPlay for the trip knowing my battery will be in a good state on arrival.View attachment 978096
this whole mag safe thing is getting less appealing by the day
Well, unless the rating of the charger adapter magically changes during the powercut, what's the problem?I put my phone onto the charger that is already connected, all is well. Then there is a powercut... What then?

sh*tstorm incoming...
And the MagSafe disappointments keep coming
Absolutely unnacceptable, I'm cancelling my order! 🙄

Especially since MagSafe is still two hands to removeWhich is why I'll be sticking with Lightning. What does it take, like a second more to plug in a Lighting cable versus attaching MagSafe? Plus it's cheaper and more widespread. Not worth the hassle.

If I got a mini, I’d keep using Qi charging. It’s plenty fast for overnight charging, and I don’t have to bother with plugging it in - which is a tiny hassle every time - I just set it on the charging stand. And if I need to use it for some reason, I just pick it up and use it, no worry about “well, but I have to stay with X feet of where the phone was charging because it’s still plugged in” (and when I’m don’t I just set it back on the charging stand).Which is why I'll be sticking with Lightning.
