Meta/Bookface shows its true self as usual. If you build and maintain the market you should collect something for that, but this is outrageous.

Is it just me or are the only people who care about the “metaverse” are tech companies and tech reporters/bloggers?

If I was him I’d be distancing myself from the company and looking into founding something new.

Without using Oculus Link and connecting to computer you're missing out on some great VR content like Half Life Alyx. If they released a new headset without computer option it'd hurt them more than help.
Thank God Apple spoke up about the “Meta Hypocrisy” and all the other antitrust phonies Epic, Spotify etc…
This clearly is a win for Apple. The ridiculous hypocrisy just proves Apple’s point to the courts that Epic, Meta and the others are just wholly using the legal system clearly for 100% self interest.
EPIC has their own monopoly on their game engine. It's hypocrisy all around with every one of these tech giants. Every major player who makes billions from the 30% for software they sell, they either have a monopoly in some area or are part of a dominant duopoly.
So Apl and Fbk are going to compete in the VR arena - and while apl is facing lawsuit after lawsuit for excessive App Store fees - Fbk is raising its future fees to 50%.

Not really a fair comparison by Cook. This is like charging a fee for selling a skin in Fortnite, versus charging a fee for selling Fortnite itself.
Not everyone cares about privacy. They might not want their credit card numbers stolen but they don’t care if Zucky is tracking when and where they ?. Just look at how popular Android phones are. Either those people don’t care or they just don’t understand. I find it hard to believe so many people wouldn’t understand something so basic.
Interesting that Apple is so quick to respond to this, as Facebook’s ar software only takes a 17% cut without the hardware (with the hardware it is 47%). I wonder if this means Facebook will try to androidify their ar glasses with other hardware developers?
Raise your hand if you actually were dumb enough to believe Facebook was interested in being fair to developers and customers who use their platform!

Apple is right about Facebook, but I am not sure they are the ones to talk about hypocrisy since Apple appears to be much more hypocritical than other companies -- CSAM fiasco; secret deals with governments with human rights issues; handing over data to criminals pretending to be police, and not fully encrypting this data so it is possible to make such errors in the first place; recent allegations on how Apple exploited their own staff's privacy to gather data for FaceID, even though privacy is supposedly a basic human right; and many other violations over the recent years.
I don’t think they want software developers. They want a cut of the money from scammers selling stupid ape NFTS.
