Hey let’s give credit where it‘s due. Doubling down on ignorance and and conspiracy theories, common sense and medical experts be damned. They will not be stopped. Good to know so we can weed these people out. I’m sure the sports leagues, where money rules everything, love losing tens-of-millions every day they aren’t in action because of a “media hoax.”

Shocking we need to make higher education easier for all.
The other thing that makes the "media hoax" angle extra stupid is that "the media" are owned and controlled by billionaires and other assorted shareholders, who are watching their investments in the stock market drop like a rock due to this whole situation.

Not a big deal since most people shop online anyway.

Makes sense. The virus would spread faster than a fart smell.
I know everyone here is going to have a cow ....but working at the only AASP in my area that can actually turn a screwdriver instead just shipping everything, business will be gooooooooodddd....
What's an AASP?

That's not going to happen and the number of recoveries will be significantly higher than the fatality rate.

There are 330 million Americans. If 70% of the population becomes infected that's 231 million people. If the fatality rate is 1% that's 2.31 million people.

Of course, the 327.69 million Americans will be fine.

Out of 7,000,000,000+ people. A very, very small number.

That's 1 -3 million in American alone. Please see my math above.

That sounds great until you run out of hospital beds.

This country has roughly 925,000 hospital beds. If 1.5 million get very sick and require these beds? And the number will be higher. What happens? Lots of chaos and death. That’s the answer

Another thing to consider too is that hospitals aren't currently empty - 925,000 hospital beds doesn't necessarily mean a capacity to take in 925,000 persons with COVID-19.

It seems that everything goes in cycles. No system is perfect and ultimately doomed to fail. Back to "iron curtains" and being more self-reliant(at least manufacturing your own toilet paper). China seems to be in a very good position as they managed to combine the best of both worlds.

Yes they are nervous because this media fear will not let spouses, relatives see them in hospitals, rehabs and nursing homes!! Many more Elderly will die from the isolation rather than this ridiculous virus fear garbage. Don’t u question anything? Stop blindly following those in charge who like everyone else have their own interests and agendas...
[automerge]1584445405[/automerge]

Why because the media told u this?? What about the other dozens of other viruses that we have dealt with in just the past decade alone? This fear is causing more damage than any virus could
The difference between 5000 infections and 5,000,000 is 10 weeks. You really, really to read a book.

The precautions taken so far are perfectly reasonable, and if anything a bit late on the behalf of most governments.

Yesterday I tried to order an adapter online, the dongle to connect USB-C to HDMI. 7 to 10 days shipping time. Maybe in other countries is different, but even Amazon Prime that usually ships the next day gave me a Saturday delivery when I tried to order yesterday.
Hopefully I won't need anything to continue working from home. I was planning to use an external monitor I have at home, but I changed my mind after I turned it on and connected to an old PC, the quality is really too low I'd much rather use my retina 15 only and renounce to the second display.
I have a USB keyboard in case mine fails (I'm on a 2016 MBP, you never know...) but if something else happens to my laptop I'll need to take some days of vacation while waiting for another one to be shipped.

Say that with confidence if one of your friends or family with a pre-existing condition dies from this virus.
The strong survive, the weak die. Friend or not, that's life.

We need to thin the population anyway. Too many people on the planet.

Wow. Hope it doesn’t kill anyone close to you. You might realize how foolish you sound. I thought that same thing 2 weeks ago. Things have changed

ONE is even too high a number if it is someone you love.

Agree but not like this. People need to slow down the birth rates. Hear all this about a baby boom now in nine months. That's the LAST thing needed after a pandemic. Overpop is definitely one of the major factors for pandemics.
